Super Easy Doughnuts

Reviewed: Aug. 11, 2009
We liked these. The dough was a little sticky, but we just turned the dough out on to a flour-dusted surface, and kneaded in a little more flour to make a soft dough. I think too much flour might have made the final product dry; the soft dough was perfect. We fried in batches, and it only took a few minutes per batch. My 6 year old made the dough, and my 14 year old fried them up.

Good flavor, but the cornstarch lends a chalkiness.

A little fudgy, I prefer chewy but not fudge in a brownie. The taste was lovely. I have been trying a lot of chocolate variations. The chili pepper and chocolate is not only traditional (think Mayan, but also very tasty.

I finaly made this recipe after looking at it for years. It is a good base recipe to which you can add ingredients to make it your own. I added a mixture of cinnamon, coconut, granola, and walnuts that I chopped in the food proccessor to a large crumb.

This is great! I used 1 c. oat flour (processed in blender from oatmeal) and 1 c. spelt flour - delicious and my family doesn't know it is healthy! Thanks for this good recipe.

This is a simple and tasty recipe. The quality of the olive oil can really make a difference - buy the slightly more expensive bottle.

Birthday Bones

These keep well. I have been testing to see how long they will last (I am planning on giving them to doggie friends during the holidays), and so far they are still good at three weeks - crunchy, no signs of mold, and the dog is still eating these. I did leave them in the oven a little longer than stated in the recipe. My dog is a chewer, and I thought she might like the resistence of a harder cookie.

Aunt Betty's Banana Pudding

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2007
I've made this recipe so many times now and have made a few changes here and there. I mostly us banana creme and french vanilla pudding, I do not let it set as the recipe calls for. I buy one extra creamy whip cream and one regular. I mix the regular one in with my pudding mixture and use the extra creamy one for the top layer. Also, I started using mini wafers instead of the larger ones because the mixture preads easier. So, I lay down a thick layer of mini wafers. Pile on half the pudding mixture, spread out bananas, pile on the rest of mixture and spread a thin layer of extra creamy whip cream over the top. Sprinkle with left over crushed wafers. I find that this way calls for more bananas and a slighlty deeper pan than the regular 8x11. Not sure if my way is better or worse, everyone devours it either way I make it. Thanks again for a great recipe! ~Tamara

I made this for my lodge, so I made 28 servings. I followed the recipe, used the recipe multiplier function on allrecipes.com, and cooked in a 20qt. roaster. I had to increase cooking time. The guys loved it; I will definitely make it again.

Cinnamon Honey Butter

I found this recipe to be too sweet and its appearance was not that appetizing. I started over and gradually adjusted the amount of confectioner’s sugar and honey until it suited my fancy. I ended up only using a few drops of honey and a few teaspoons of confectioner’s sugar.

Choco-coconut Bars

Reviewed: May 9, 2006
This is incredible - these taste amazingly like a mounds bar. I scaled this down to 4 servings, and it made 15 good size pieces. Very easy to make. I did make one change: instead of pressing into a pan and cutting the chilled slab into bars, I rolled the coconut mixture into a log, and then cut into pieces. When dipping, I turned the bar over to coat completely, and this made a beautiful swirl over the top of each candy. Note: I did use my hands to mix in the coconut. I amy have used a bit more confectioners' sugar than called for. The mixture was very stiff, and this may have made it easier to dip the pieces in chocolate.
