Yummy Quiche

Reviewed: Jun. 25, 2006
This is pretty good, but unfortunately, I had tried the Crab Quiche on the site first, and everyone likes that one better. I personally prefer this one, but it's one against four!!!! Thank you!

This was the quick and easy side I was looking for to accompany my oven-baked chicken! Turned out great! Thank you!

Four Layer Hamburger and Macaroni Casserole

Reviewed: Jun. 25, 2006
This is pretty good, although I've made a few changes. I never did try it with frozen mac and cheese--I've always used Kraft mac and cheese in the box--and I always use leftover taco meat for the meat layers. It's a quick and easy meal, and the kids like it! Thanks!

Garlic Cheddar Chicken

Reviewed: Jun. 25, 2006
This is very good! I had doubts at first--I didn't think the chicken would be moist. Boy, was I wrong! Everyone gobbled it up! As a shortcut, I used seasoned dry bread crumbs instead of adding spice. Yummy!!!

Spicy Crispy Beef

Reviewed: Jun. 25, 2006
This is fabulous! It's a lot of work, though, to prepare the meat. I have a hard time keeping the steak slices from clumping together. However, the family raves about the meat, so it's worth it! I had to cut down on the sugar--I used 2 TBSP of white sugar, and substituted brown sugar for the honey. I used sherry in place of the rice wine. I've made this using julianned carrots and celery, and also with broccoli and green onions. Delicious both ways! Thank you!

Grandma's Dried Beef Casserole

Reviewed: Jun. 25, 2006
My mother-in-law warned me about the flavor of dried beef, but I wanted to try this anyway. I know what she meant now--either you like the taste of dried beef, or you don't! It was a bit too salty for our tastes. Thanks anyway!

Brown Sugar Meatloaf

Reviewed: Jun. 25, 2006
Unfortunately, my entire family thought this was a bit too sweet. I like sweet, but this just didn't do it for me. I'm thinking that we just don't like meatloaf, because I've had lukewarm reviews about other meatloaf recipes we've tried! Thanks anyway!!!

Crab Quiche

I had my doubts (I'm not a 'crab' person), but my entire family loved this! That includes my 10, 14 and 16 year old boys! I didn't change much of anything...I just used real crab instead of imitation. I can't count how many times my husband said how good it was! Thanks for a change of pace!

Angel Chicken Pasta

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2006
This was very good! I didn't change much of the recipe--I just used neufchatel cheese instead of cream cheese...that's it! Good flavor--even the kids liked it (I was actually worried that the kids would not care for the "wine" flavor, which I thought was pretty strong. Maybe I'll try a different wine next time!). Next time I might cut the chicken into smaller pieces. Thanks for a winner!

Smoked Salmon and Dill Vegetable Bites

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2005
My family and I LOVED this dip. I used Neufchatel, since it's a bit lower in fat than regular cream cheese. It's so wonderful. My family had it with whole wheat crackers as a snack on Thanksgiving. Everyone wanted the recipe. My cousin ate half a bowl in one sitting, and I had doubled the recipe. I also tried it with fat free cream cheese--big mistake.

Sweet Candied Orange and Lemon Peel

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2005
I was making a fruit cake and the recipe called for candied orange peel. I'd never heard of that before and they didn't have it at the grocery store. So, I found this recipe. I only made orange peels. They weren't my cup of tea because I don't like candy that sweet. They reminded me of those gummy things that are shaped like orange slices. Everyone else liked them, and I'm giving it five stars because whether I liked it or not, it's a good recipe. My fruitcake might not have been so delicious without them! Thanks!

Apple Butter Pork Loin

I liked this recipe just fine, but the rest of my family wasn't too crazy about it. I guess they just don't like sweet stuff! I haven't eaten the leftovers yet, but I bet the cold pork would taste excellent on a sandwich! Thanks!

Yakatori

Mmmmmmmmmmmm! I just got through eating this with my family and it was a HUGE hit! The only thing I changed was that I used fresh grated ginger in the marinade and I sliced the meat into thin strips and threaded it onto the skewers. I can't wait to try this with chicken and pork! THANK YOU!

Charley's Slow Cooker Mexican Style Meat

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2005
I halved this recipe because it was so plentiful! I thought it was great, but had a slight "vinegar-like" taste to it. Perhaps it was the pepper sauce that I used. Next time I will salt and pepper the meat better, and I may also add some fajita seasoning to the crock pot. I was very surprised that my 10 year old loved it! It was pretty spicy, but he ate 4 tacos! A definite repeat at my house.

Mongolian Beef II

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2005
Wow! This was fantastic!!! I used 2 bunches of green onions and 1/2 a wedged sweet yellow onion. I also used 1" of grated ginger and 3 cloves of pressed garlic. I added a sprinkle of Adolph's to the meat while it was cooking. I also added fresh broccoli when the onions were returned to the meat mixture. The only thing I will do differently next time is that instead of using crushed red pepper from a bottle, I will crush my own. We like it HOT! Great dish!

Super Easy Slow Cooker Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2005
I thought this was yummy. After reading the other reviews, I added 1/4 cup white wine, instead of Marsala, and added a can of cream of mushroom soup. I also added some cayenne pepper, some black pepper and some salt, but there was something still missing. Maybe some garlic would help. Next time I may add half a cup of chicken boullion to help bring out the flavor more, instead of the cream of mushroom soup. Thanks for another winner in our house!!!

Beef Potato House Pie Casserole

Reviewed: Sep. 12, 2005
This was wonderful. What a great cold weather dish this will be!!! Comfort food....I took another reviewer's advice and changed the following: I only used 1 lb of ground beef, and I added a package of brown gravy mix, the water called for on the gravy packet, and 1 can of cream of 98% fat free chicken soup to the beef. I saved time by making a huge amount of mashed potatoes on another night, and used the leftovers here. Might use cream of mushroom next time instead of chicken, and I might substitute a little red cooking wine for some of the water. Another favorite at our house!!! [Made this again 10/13/05--used 98% fat free cream of mushroom soup, HOMESTYLE gravy mix, 1/4 cup red wine, 3/4 cup water. Liked it even more!!!!!!!]

Chicken Enchiladas II

Reviewed: Sep. 12, 2005
This was excellent! I was afraid my family wouldn't like it because they are used to red, tomato-based sauce on their enchiladas, but they loved this! I made the following changes: Only used 1/4 cup minced green onion. Used 98% fat free soup and fat free sour cream. Added 1/2 tsp chicken fajita seasoning. Also added 8 minced chilipiquin peppers that grow in my yard instead of green chilies. Used nine 6" tortillas. Topped with cheddar and monterey jack cheese. Used foil to keep tort edges from getting crunchy about halfway through baking time. Thanks for a new favorite to add to our menu!!!!
