This was the best pie crust recipe I have ever used. It was not the easiest to work with but the end result was definitely worth the minimal trouble. I used butter flavored shortening and used my hands to mix it with the flour/salt. The mixture was a bit sticky when I added the ice cold water. I just wrapped in the plastic and chilled it. When rolling out it was a bit difficult to keep it together but not impossible.
My husband and son told me they enjoyed eating the crust of the pie just as much as the rest of it – I have to agree! Unless I find another pie crust better than this one, doubtful, I will forever be using this recipe.
