Basic Flaky Pie Crust

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2007
This was the best pie crust recipe I have ever used. It was not the easiest to work with but the end result was definitely worth the minimal trouble. I used butter flavored shortening and used my hands to mix it with the flour/salt. The mixture was a bit sticky when I added the ice cold water. I just wrapped in the plastic and chilled it. When rolling out it was a bit difficult to keep it together but not impossible. My husband and son told me they enjoyed eating the crust of the pie just as much as the rest of it – I have to agree! Unless I find another pie crust better than this one, doubtful, I will forever be using this recipe.

This was very easy and I loved that the fresh zucchini taste wasn't overpowered by the other ingredients. It was a great side dish!

I made this last night with Zippy Zucchini and Gourmet Mushroom Risotto. My 15 year old only liked the chicken but my husband loved the whole dinner. It was very easy to make also.

I don't have a double boiler so I used a med pot and put a glass bowl on top and melted the chocolate in that. It worked perfect!

Chicken and Dumplings III

I used the really cheap kind of packaged biscuts, the ones that come 10 in a can. Before dropping them in the pot I coat them in flour with seasonings so they don't stick together and it also gives them a nice texture.

Baked Apples

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2002
I baked a bit longer than the 15 minutes yet the apple was only baked half way. I used green Granny Smith apples as suggested - these were just to tart at the bottom. I made these in Camp Fire Girls with brown sugar, peanut butter, raisins & butter - I'll stick to my recipe.

Chicken Fried Chicken

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2002
I'm new to the cooking thing and tried this recipe - I coarsely chopped the saltines but next time I will crush them completely. I noticed that the finely chopped saltines stayed on the chicken where as the coarse fell off. My store did not have boneless chicken so I had to use with bone - it took forever to cook. Definitely go with boneless!

Cola Pot Roast II

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2002
I am a horrible cook - no joke. Everytime I try something new - it usually bombs. I had a 7 1/2 pound roast in the freezer, located this recipe and decided to give it a try for Sunday dinner. I added red potatoes, cut up and served with rice and potatoe rolls. My husband loved it and couldn't stop telling me what a great job I did on this one. That is now 2 meals (married 11 years) he's given his YUMMY to. Both from Allrecipes.com - one on Saturday and this one on Sunday - Definite keeper! THANK you for making my husband happy!
