Southern Chicken Fried Steak

Reviewed: Aug. 17, 2008
Very good recipe. I used another reviewers idea of using an electric skillet set at 350. Fried for 10 minutes on each side and turned out great. I thought the color was very nice. I served this with homemade mashed potatos, packaged country gravy, and steamed veggies. Thanks so much! Oh yeah, I forgot to mention I used cube steak instead of veal.

Tender Barbecued Chicken

Reviewed: Aug. 13, 2008
I was so impressed with this recipe. I used 2 lbs of chicken legs and put them on low for 7 hours, then on high for the last hour. The meat was falling off the bone and it was so delicious. I didn't have any lemon, but next time I will be sure to add it as I think it would be a nice addition. I served this with broccoli rice casserole (it was an O.K. combo - probably not the best). I would recommend this recipe to anyone.

I made this for company and was pleased to serve it. I left out the green chiles only because I didn't have them but I think they would have been good. This is a very simple and satisfying recipe.

I followed the recipe exactly and it came out perfectly! I did have to take it out at 40 minutes instead of 45, but that may just be my oven.

This was great! I used a 16 oz. bag of shredded cheddar cheese instead of the processed cheese spread and it turned out wonderfully!

German Sweet Chocolate Pie

this was good and SO easy to make. but i'm not sure the graham cracker crust is the best for it. other reviewers may have stated this as well: an oreo crust would work better. or maybe even a regular pie crust? don't know how well that would freeze, though. might be too hard to cut through? i loved how you don't have to bake it either. after putting it in the freezer i kept waiting to go check on it in the oven! :) thanks for a great and easy recipe!

these are great! after making them one evening, my husband and i each brought one to work. he sent me a text message saying "you are the bran muffin champ!" i did omit raisins b/c hubby doesn't like them. however, next time i will add them for my portion. :) i actually made 6 large muffins with this recipe. makes a great breakfast.

Chicken Salad Sandwiches

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2008
this is GOOD!!! i make it weekly just about! like another reviewer i also just use toasted bread, not muffins. the recipe does make a lot. because i don't want a LOT of crunchy in my chicken salad, i omit celery, green pepper, and onion. and i use extra olives, b/c that is the best part, second to the almonds! i also do not even use lettuce and tomatoes. just the chicken salad and the bread. thanks for an AWESOME recipe!

this is really good. however, maybe i'm just an amateur cook, but the quantity of broccoli and mushroom to me was very vague. what kind of mushroom, etc.? but i've since tweekeed it my own way. :)

To Die For Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: Jul. 15, 2008
I have no idea why these are so highly rated. I'm not a baker by any means, but I know how to follow a recipe. I followed this one exactly as written and it produced muffins that were bland and had way too much crumb topping on top. I had to add lots of butter to the muffin to make it taste good. Sorry - I won't be making these again.

Smooth Sweet Tea

Well I didn't know that there were different sized tea bags - so I used 6 family sized bags and wow was my tea unnecessarily strong. But still it wasn't bitter and I don't have to throw it out. Next time I'll use 3 family sized bags though. I thought the amount of sugar was perfect. Thanks so much!

Broccoli Cheese Soup

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2008
Oh So Yummy! I'm SO GLAD I read the reviews first. I used two cans of chicken broth, 1 lb. frozen broccoli, 3/4 lb. velveeta, and a cup of shredded mild cheddar. Also, I mixed chicken broth with the cornstarch instead of water. My husband loved it too but said I could go a little easier on the cheese next time. Thanks so much!

Macaroni Salad II

Reviewed: Jul. 4, 2008
Years ago, Safeway Stores sold a similar salad in their deli section, called Tropical Pasta Salad - and I have been searching for the recipe. They used shell macaroni, and I suspect they used mayonnaise instead of the cooked sauce. It was a refreshing change from the usual macaroni salad.

White Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 2, 2008
This is a really great recipe. The two reviews at the top of the list with the tips on how to make this cake turn out well were spot on. I used this recipe in conjunction with a dark chocolate cake recipe to make a white chocolate/dark chocolate layer cake. My coworkers devoured the cake and couldn't stop talking about it. I was able to get the icing to whip beautifully (room temp butter). It was very light and fluffy. It only became runny/melted during transport because my car was very hot and I have no A/C :D. When heating the milk/flour/chocolate mixture on the stove I spent about 20-30 minutes stirring it constantly on medium heat. When it cooled it was gelatinous like one solid lump. The cake itself was interesting. Like everyone says it is very heavy, but mine did NOT turn out greasy. (I don't think some people know how to follow directions >.<) To lighten the cake I'm going to use a little less flour next time and try to get more air in the cake mix. It took me a very long time to complete this cake since this was my first complicated bake. It is time consuming but WELL worth the effort. Oh I didn't have any white baking chocolate but I found some white chocolate morsels from tollhouse. It probably saved me time from having to chop baker's chocolate. I only gave 4 stars because it is a very heavy cake and the white chocolate flavor didn't really come out in the cake. Perhaps more white chocolate next time for me?

These were very good. My only complaint would be the texture of the flour tortilla after baking. Flavor was good. I made this for my friend and I and she loved it. She even took the recipe and made it for her husband not long after. Thank!

Kat's Alfredo Potatoes

Reviewed: Jun. 24, 2008
Didn't have time to bake this dish so I used this same recipe only I precooked the potatoes and made a mashed potatoes version! I also left out milk, precooked the onion in a bit of butter and added some garlic, then beat until smooth with electric mixer. Went well with italian herb grilled chicken breasts. My whole family including the picky ones loved this. Thanks for sharing!
