Chicken Flautas

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2009
Rather better then I was expecting, was only able to do half a batch. They didn't ever crisp in the oven so ended up with more like enchaladas then flautas but was still very good. My son had 5 and thats saying something seeing as he is 3 years old and very picky. Was kinda hard to do the totillas in oil I see why its stated should have help with it. If you make the full recipe make sure you have prob about double the cheese or else you won't have enough.

Healthy Banana Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2009
These were extreamly tasty and easy as well as versitile. I couldn't fine dates in my grocery store so i replaced them with dried, chopped apricots. Had abit of trouble making them into cookies (they just fell apart on pan) so i pressed them into bars. Add abit of mini chocolate chips and this is perfect. Next time I will be trying apple sauce instead of oil but the oil version is good if not so good for you. Husband (who wouldn't eat right if he had to) loved them and son just doesn't want to stop eating them, haha. Thanks for a great and easy recipe.

These were great. I used mini muffin tins, so baking time was decreased to approx 14 minutes. Light & yummy.

Strawberry Oatmeal Breakfast Smoothie

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2009
Fabulous! I used skim milk since I can't have soy, but I would think any kind of milk would do. I made it again with frozen blackberries instead of strawberries. I will never make a smoothie without oatmeal again! Thanks for submitting this wonderful recipe.

Braised Flank Steak with Lemon and Garlic

Reviewed: Sep. 14, 2009
Fantabulous! I've made this twice, the 2nd time with a flat iron steak since the flank steaks didn't look so good at the store. Both turned out wonderful. I did thicken the sauce the 2nd time around to make it more "gravy-like", otherwise followed the recipe exactly as written. Even "Mr. Picky" likes this one and that is a MAJOR compliment! Thanks for submitting this wonderful recipe!

Cake Mixes from Scratch and Variations

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2009
I have used this recipe for about a year now and even substitute Splenda for the sugar for my Mother-In-Law which is diabetic. (FYI: If you use Splenda, add about 1/4C more of milk) We just love it. We do use butter instead of oil as others have suggested. All out, a great recipe.

Gravy Baked Pork Chops

This recipe is simple to follow, and I made it with 6 thin cut pork chops and it turned out wonderful! I cooked this for my parents with green beans and red potatoes, and they rated it 5 stars --- and my dad is picky, so this says a lot! Very tasty.

Zesty Porcupine Meatballs

Reviewed: Aug. 3, 2009
I have made this 2 different ways. First was with the canned tomato soup. The second was with tomato sauce and it was so much better in my opinion. I doubled the instant rice and my meatballs stayed together nicely in the skillet. I added garlic powder, italian seasoning, and more salt and pepper than called for. I served this over rice, with broccoli and corn. I definately recommend making more sauce than the recipe calls for. All in all, a very good recipe. Thanks for sharing!

Cheesy Chicken Meatballs

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2009
This recipe was pretty good. I substituted shredded cheddar cheese for the parmesan cheese and added some green onion that I was looking to get rid of. They weren't the best, but there weren't any left either, so I think it's safe to say everyone enjoyed them.

Sugar Cookie Icing

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2009
This recipe is easy to make and easy to adjust according to what you wanna do - pipe or flood fill inside the piping. And it's yummy, especially on cookie cutter cookies that need an extra bit of sweetness! It spreads evenly and dries smooth and glossy, like professional cookies, I will definitely be using this when I want this type of cookie/icing pairing again!

Italian Spaghetti Sauce with Meatballs

Reviewed: Jul. 18, 2009
This recipe is one of the favorites I have found so far for pasta sauces, and I have tried quite a few in the past few months. I did make some adjustments (as does everyone on this site). I used 2 28 oz cans of crushed tomatoes (not whole tomatoes) - mostly personal preference. When making the meatballs, I used 1/2 cup of crushed Club crackers because I ran out of breadcrumbs (had like 1/8 of a cup or something... so useless!) I then added 1/4 cup of milk to the meatballs. Oh, and I also used 1/2 lb ground pork and 1/2 lb ground beef as well as fresh parsley (didn't have any dried on hand, and fresh is so cheap anyway). I cooked the meatballs in the sauce, which I agree was a great method of cooking. This recipe is fantastic, and I will use it again. Thanks!!
