Southern Style Honey Butter

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2009
This was my first time making honey butter and it was excellent! It was smooth and creamy and the perfect sweetness for our cornbread. The only thing I would add is if you use a stick of butter that you cut it into chunks when putting it in the food processor. We will be adding this to our menu when ever we have cornbread. We can't wait to try it on biscuits. Thank you for sharing.

Bolognese Stuffed Bell Peppers

Reviewed: Aug. 14, 2009
Great Grilling recipe! My husband and I stuffed as instructed, wrapped in foil and grilled for about 15-20 minutes. I added minced garlic to cook with the celery and carrots, along with onion soup mix and Worcester sauce to the beef while it was cooking. I had about 2 servings worth left over after all peppers were stuffed. We both did not feel it necessary for the finishing touch of Parmesan cheese. I will make this again!

This has easily become one of our favorite slow cooker meals. The cream cheese is a great touch. Don't be afraid to use hamburger meat in a pinch!

Anna's Amazing Easy Pleasy Meatballs over Buttered Noodles

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2009
Being the scatterbrained person that I am, I forgot to put this recipe in the Crockpot before leaving for work. This recipe worked just as well on the stove top. I heated the sauce while the meatballs were cooking away in the oven. I did add a bit of dill to the sauce.

Banana Bread II

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2008
Really good! I added a SMALL amount of nutmeg, 1/2 tsp cinnamon and 1/2 tsp of vanilla to the mixture. I also used bananas that were a little overripe, which makes the banana flavor a bit more intense. YUM!

Bean 'N' Beef Crescent Pie

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2008
This recipe is simple and a nice change from soft taco night. I used Mama Renfro's Roasted Chipotle hot sauce for a great smokey flavor. The 1 can of cresent rolls didn't exactly cover the entire dish, so I had to use two. (Granted I didn't try too hard to make 1 can work) Next time I might attempt to use a deep dish pie pan.

Three Cheese Manicotti II

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2008
Awesome! I thawed frozen chopped spinach and added that to the stuffing along with a little bit of garlic. I soaked the shells in hot water for about 15 minutes instead of boiling them. That made it easier to handle. I stuffed the shells with a plastic pastry bag & large tip, because it was handy...(small circles while squeezing filled it faster than just stuffing it in the shell and squeezing btw). I did not use 2 jars of sauce. I used one jar of chunky pasta sauce & 1 8 oz can of tomato sauce w/ a little bit of seasonings mixed in. Next time I'm going to add ground italian sausage to the sauce.

Broccoli Chicken Divan

Reviewed: Sep. 6, 2008
I made this more into a casserole. I shredded the seasoned chicken (with pepper and seasoning salt) after it was cooked with onion, garlic. After reading some of the other reviews, I added Worchester sauce, 1/2 cup milk to the soup. I steamed 2 10 oz pkgs of frozen chopped broccolli instead of using fresh. I started the layering with egg noodles, just to make it an "all-in-one" meal. I'll make this again, but probably do the following: Add extra seasonings between the 'layers' of items. Use condensed cheddar soup instead of broccoli soup. (Just to see what happens)

Lentil and Sausage Soup

I made this is the crockpot and I would probably make it on the stove next time. Everything was delicious, except the sausage came out tasting watery. I also omitted the carrots and the pasta.

Italian Pork Tenderloin

This is one of my new favorites. I did add garlic and omitted the prosciutto, cause I was out. I used rubbed sage instead of fresh. Next time I will make sure I have both. I served it with bow tie pasta and lots of fresh parsley.

Aunt Blanche's Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2007
This is a great recipe. I followed the original recipe and added a teaspoon of vanilla extract and extra blueberries (I used frozen and they worked just fine). I also topped the muffins with a streusel: 1/4 c butter, 1/4 c sugar, 1/4 c brown sugar, 1/3 c flour, 1 tsp cinnamon. I filled the muffin tins about 80% full and this made 15 muffins which didn't run over. They were light and fluffy (make sure your baking powder is not expired or old). Excellent!
