Too Much Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2009
I normally don't like chocolate cake because it is spongy and doesn't taste like rich chocolate. This cake was incredible. Definitely on my list to make a lot!

These were good but not "the best". My son who loves Thai and Lo Mein did not like these.

Slow Cooker Mashed Potatoes

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2009
These were the best! I boiled the red potatoes whole until tender, then removed the skin. (very easy this way) I did not have sour cream on hand so I added whole milk to taste. I also melted the butter and warmed the milk while mashing potatoes. These had a wonderful creamy consistency. Will never use another recipe for mashed potatoes again. This is it!

Carrie's Southern Queso

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2009
The easiest queso ever! It's a staple. A couple of tips: Don't drain the RoTel - you're supposed to add the juice. To give it a head start, melt the cheese (dice it) and tomatoes in the microwave, one minute at a time. Stir between zaps. For a heartier dip, add some ground beef that's been browned and drained. Keep a bottle of beer handy to thin the queso if it starts drying out in the slow cooker. Enjoy!

Grilled Stuffed Red Snapper

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2009
This was so delicious! I had to cut the green onions (tummy doesn't like them), but made no difference, I'm sure. Light and flaky! Added cream cheese to the mixture to make it moist. That was a hit.

Lemon Poppy Seed Amish Friendship Bread

Hsd to eliminate the poppy seeds, but addred lemon zest instead. Also floured the pans with lemon sugar found in a liquor store to rim a martini glass. Made it yummy with a sweet and sour crust.

Amish Friendship Chocolate Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2009
I made this substituting 1 tsp of Raspberry Extract. Also found sugar for the rim of a martini glass and used that to "flour" to pan. It was called Chocolate Candy. It gave it the traditional sugared coating we love on Amish Bread. I added a third egg, like most of the other recipes call for, too. Quite good and different.

Home Style Macaroni and Cheese

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2009
I am looking for a good homestyle mac and cheese recipe, and I thought that with some tweaking, this was pretty good. I used only half of the cream cheese as others did, and I put some sour cream as one reviewer suggested. I wouldn't do that again. The cream cheese is a good addition, but it does make this really bland. So I added nutmeg (which I add to all my bechemel sauces, which is basically what this is)garlic, white and black pepper, onion powder and salt and almost doubled the cheese. My husband and I both agreed that while the flavor was fine, I could have doubled the amount of noodles that I used. There was way too much sauce in my opinion. While this recipe turned out fine after my changes, I think I'll keep looking for the perfect mac and cheese recipe!

Super Easy Slow Cooker Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2009
This is one of those recipes that my husband looks at me like I am crazy while I am throwing it all together, then while he is eating all he can say is "MMMM! This is awesome!" I use my crock pot alot, and this is one of the easiest, best dishes that I have done in a while-it always amazes me how just 4 ingredients thrown in a pot can make such a yummy dinner! I did make a few changes, as usual. I used 2 cans of soup because when I put the cream of chicken& herbs it just didn't look like alot, so I also threw in a cream of chicken & mushroom as well; but to be honest you would probably be fine with just the one can. I would have also seasoned and browned the chicken breasts first but I was pressed for time to get it in the crock pot, but next time I will definately do that. I used bone in chicken breasts, white onion and fresh sliced baby portabella mushrooms;and I also threw in some garlic and additional herbs. My 3 year old is a huge mushroom fan (the kid won't eat a piece of pizza without mushrooms!), so she loved this but everyone else did too! I am always looking for recipes that I can add to my slow cooker meal rotation and this is definately a keeper!!Thanks for the recipe!!

Croutons

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2009
VERY YUMMY!! I attempted to make homeade bread for the first time in my new KitchenAid mixer...for my first time making bread it wasn't bad...but very bland!! So I didn't wanna waste a whole loaf of bread... I made Delicious Ham and Potato soup (from this site) for dinner and I topped it with these homeade croutons... I melted some butter in a pan and used garlic powder, parsley, salt and pepper.....i tossed the butter with the bread in a bowl then dumped onto a baking tray! we put the croutons right on top of our soup :) SOOOO good and I cant wait to make them again!!

Italian Rice Balls

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2008
YOU MUST USE SAUCE. I have been making these all of my life with my mother and grandmother. You need to use a homeade tomato sauce (or store bought...whatever) to hold it all together. Just add enough to get the consistency right and the rice easy to roll up. In my family we put ground sauage in the mix and add a cube of fresh mozzerella cheese to the center. we roll the mixture in cheese and bread crumbs and fry...SO WORTH THE EFFORT. They will become a family tradition

Cream Cheese Frosting II

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2008
Very good :) I made it in my Kitchen Aid mixer and the more you beat it the fluffier and yummier it becomes.....so if you like a thicker frosting dont whip it very long... Ours was to go on top of the Buttermilk Pound Cake rom this site so we whipped it really really well and just dolloped a spoonful on top of the cake as if it were cool whip..YUUMMMMMM YUM! Perfect.

White Chocolate Covered Pretzels

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2008
I put these inside my christmas goody bags...they were good too!! Next year I think I will use small regular pretzels instead of the rods. The rods were too long to fit inside of my bags standing up, and The rod seemed a it dry and crumbly once you bit into it :( I think a small pretzel completely dipped would be yummier and more practical as you can pop a whole one in your mouth and have no crumblies all over... Cant wait to make it again!! maybe I'll do some coated in white chocolate, some in milk chocolate and some in butterscotch chips yummmm!!!

Grilled Bacon Jalapeno Wraps

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2008
very, very good! they got rave reviews. to cut the heat i removed the seeds and membranes then boiled the halves for 5 minutes. all that lowered the heat TOO much. i blended Ranch dressing mix into onion and chive flavored cream cheese and that worked well. i forgot to chill them so the cheese wouldn't melt and run out but the cheese was straight from the fridge so it wasn't too bad. they're a pain to make but worth the effort.
