Spiced Pumpkin Seeds

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2009
Well, I am sure they would have been great, however, I fell asleep while they were in the oven, so they ended up cooking about 1.5 hours and were def burnt. Oh well. I will try again next year.

Portobello Penne Pasta Casserole

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2009
Very interesting and different recipe. I love pasta, so I thought it was worth a shot. I halved the butter, used whole wheat penne, skim milk and olive oil instead of vegetable....just to make it a little healthier. I also added a can of tomatoes because I wanted more veg. I was skeptical of the soy sauce, but it made the dish. The only thing was it was a little bland. I think next time I will spice up the sauce a little with some crushed red pepper and maybe even garlic salt. Thanks for a recipe I can build on.

Just took these out of the oven and they are amazing! I added a dash of cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla, but other than that, followed the recipe. Such a great recipe to use again and again.

Garlic Angel Hair Pasta

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2009
This was a nice hot meal and so quick and easy to fix. I used minced garlic from the jar and spiral pasta. I thought this needed some kick though and could have used a healthy dose of cayenne or crushed red pepper as well. Not bad, but I thought it was too bland for me.

Kendra's Maid-Rite Sandwiches

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2009
This was a great little sandwich. It was similar to a sloppy joe without all the tomato saucey taste and spices. My husband said he liked this better than a sloppy joe sandwich and even went back for seconds. It was a bit dry though starting out so I added some beef broth and let it simmer until the liquid was gone, twenty minutes. No other changes. I'd eat this again, it was pretty good.

Sesame Beef Bites

Pretty tasty, and easy as well. I used a top sirloin steak because it was on sale... added some soy sauce to the marinade. It would have been better if I marinaded for longer, but I only had about 20 minutes.

Pumpkin Cake II

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2009
While this turned out very pretty we all thought it rather bland tasting. I made this several days ago and had to toss the rest of the cake (over half) since it didn't get eaten, a rarity at this house. I left the nuts out, but that didn't affect the cake enough to alter my rating. Sorry this just didn't work for us.

I had to add quite a bit more milk to get the desired texture. I also adapted by adding a few more ingredients. Your recipe was good though. I love anything with peanut butter in it! Thanks for sharing.

I was really skeptical. It doesn't seem like these ingredients would "bake" but they did! The best key lime pie I have ever made at home. Thanks for a great recipe!

Slow Cooker Pulled Pork

This was yummy! I am not sure what the root beer does, because I couldnt really taste it, and I am sure the recipe is completely different depending on what bbq sauce you use, but I will be making pulled pork this way again. We used head country original sauce.

Broccoli Cheese Soup V

Amazing soup! I never thought it would be so easy to make broccoli cheese soup that taste like it came from a restaurant. I used half cheddar and half velveeta, I also halved the whole recipe.... it still made about 6 servings of soupd.

Gourmet Mushroom Risotto

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2009
I love risotto, and this was one of my best attempts at recreating a risotto I had in Los Angeles on my first really nice date (hahaha). I had to cook mine for much longer, as the broth wouldn't soak up and the rice was still a bit hard. It also took me about 30 minutes just to cut all those mushrooms (I cut mine into smaller pieces and started with whole ones, not pre-sliced). I plan on making this again fairly soon (this time with pre-sliced 'shrooms, though)!

Chicken Pot Pie I

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2009
This was insanely simple to do. My husband said it was perfect and gave this 10 stars. The Hungry Teen had seconds. I thought it was rather bland and needed more seasoning. I did use 2 cans of soup 1 cream of celery and 1 cream of chicken with herbs. Instead of two cans of veggies I used 1 large can of large cut mixed veggies. So easy this is one I'll give to the kids as they move out it's a great starter recipe.

This was ok. My glaze wasn't really a glaze. I think next time I'll add less vinegar and add more ginger. I couldn't taste it. But it's a good starter recipe.

Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies I

This is a keeper! Tastes like a cookie version of a brownie. I used crisco instead of butter, because I always do in cookies, and I used 1/2 C brown sugar, and 1 cup white sugar, just because it seemed like a good idea. I will be making these again. Thanks for the recipe!
