Tulsa, Oklahoma

The second largest city in Oklahoma, Tulsa is set on historic Route 66, making it a popular spot for weary travelers to rest their heads. Practically smack dab in the middle of the country, Tulsa shares both Midwestern and Southern sensibilities, which is especially evident in the city's food scene. Scattered throughout town, diners serve up home-style favorites like chicken-fried steak, biscuits and sausage gravy, fried okra, and sweet tea. Barbeque is another popular meal. Barbequed bologna, a regional specialty, is commonly offered on menus. For a true artery-clogging treat, head to Elmer's to order a Badwich. The venerated sandwich is piled high with ribs, chopped beef, smoked bologna, and a choice of hot links or smoked sausage.

I'm a happy "barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen" sort of wife! I've been married since October 2007, and just recently found out I am pregnant. My husband is from Mexico, I am from Tennessee, and we have a great time blending our backgrounds...especially in the kitchen!

These are so fast and easy. My son loves these. We used to make them at Girl Scout Camp so this is an old favorite recipe. Thanks for posting this.

Middle Eastern Cumin Meatballs

Reviewed on Dec. 4, 2009 by ~TxCin~ILove2Ck
Great garlicky flavor in these. I didn't have tomato paste so I just used beef stock for the water and some mexican tomato sauce (Del Fuerte brand) that I had opened in the fridge. The sauce all simmered away though during cooking and there was none to spoon over the meatballs or rice, so next time I will double it. I did add a little flour/water slurry right at the beginning to help thicken the sauce up a little. Really good, I enjoyed this quite a bit. I served this with Jeera (cumin) rice. Thanks for the great recipe, I'm making this again.

Jeera (Cumin) Rice

Lots of nice flavor in this dish. I used Basmati rice and it turned out perfectly. I served this with Middle Eastern Cumin Meatballs and it was a great pairing. I'll definitely fix this again. Thanks for the wonderful recipe!
