Awesome Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2009
I tried this because my husband loves pot roast and I usually don't like it at all - this recipe sounded interesting. I LOVED it! My husband liked it, too, and it will be made again. We had it with mashed potatoes the first night and served the leftovers over rice - wonderful!

Royal Icing III

Works wonderfully! It can be thinned out a little with water to paint cookies with, too. Taste isn't great, but royal icing isn't necessarily for tasting...

Strawberry Cake from Scratch

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2009
I made this for my daughter's birthday party and everyone loved it! I separated the eggs and added the beaten whites at the end and I also cut the sugar back to 1 1/2 cups. One more thing I did was add about 1/2 cup of Polaner's strawberry All Fruit. Fabulous! I'll make this again.

Heather's Cilantro, Black Bean, and Corn Salsa

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2009
I'm a huge fan of all the ingredients in this salsa, so it should have been great. Right? It's good, but it's not likely I'll make it again.

The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2009
Fabulous recipe! My trick for "clean" cookie shapes is to press the cookie dough into a jelly roll pan (I put a silpat on the bottom) and bake it until lightly browned. After it has cooled, I cut out the cookies. You get a much better looking cookie that way - no spreading!

Vinegar Based BBQ Sauce

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2009
What a great recipe. I was looking for something close to "Parkers" in North Carolina. This was it. I do agree with one of the other people that rated this recipe that adding additional brown sugar helps. I added about 3 times the amount of brown sugar. For a true Eastern North Carolina taste, put it on a hamburger bun along with cole slaw (cole slaw on the bun, not as a side dish).

Kansas City Steak Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 5, 2009
This is very good, although I did make a few substitutions. Instead of water I used a couple cans of beef consume and the rest beef boullion. I used a can of regular diced tomatoes as it's what I had, which probably doesn't make much of a difference. I used tenderized round steak prepared according to the recipe. For the veggies I used only fresh chopped carrots, celery, green beans and potato. Can't really say how much, just till it looked hearty. I used a little thyme, and towards the end sprinkled a bit of beef boullion granules in to add a little more flavor. The consistency is more like stew. And it is hearty. It's a keeper. Thanks!

Lamb Chops with Balsamic Reduction

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2009
This is my very first experience cooking, or eating lamb chops, but I really enjoyed it. Being such a newbie, I obviously can't compare the taste to other lamb recipes I've had, but I'll definitely make this again. It's easy and tasty.

Guacamole

Reviewed: Sep. 20, 2009
This is one nice guacamole recipe! It didn't taste very good immediately after mixing things up, but was transformed to wonderful after spending a night in the fridge. BTW: To me, a pinch of cayenne equals about 1/4 tsp.

Devil's Steak Sauce

Reviewed: Sep. 20, 2009
Very Good!! The only changes I made, based on a few of the reviews, was to add five shakes of Habanero Tabasco instead of five drops. It was hot and spicy and great! It didn't make much sauce after reducing, so next time I'll try doubling the recipe. I may also experiment with using tomato paste instead of sauce to aid in thickening and trying other jams. It's a great recipe. Thanks for sharing Bernard.
