Chicken Pot Pie IX

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2009
An awesome recipe! The only thing I did different was bake the chicken in the oven with about 1 1/2 cups of water. I made the rest of the broth with bouillon cubes. I did use about 2 1/4 cups of broth and 1 full cup of milk in the filling. This turned out so wonderful. Best chicken pot pie ever. Becasue I changed the recipe to make more sauce Im going to put it in an oven safe dish and cover it with refridgerated dough next time I make this recipe. (The pie shell I bought could not hold alot of filling)

Fast and Delicious Black Bean Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2009
I really enjoyed this recipe; it’s fast and fairly nutritious. I used another member’s advice and used my emersion blender so I could get just the right texture between the beans and the veggies. I mostly made it to take to work by my boyfriend couldn’t resist trying it and he loves it! The only reason why I rated it a four versus a five is there was just too much ham for me. I did use a red bell pepper instead of green. Overall a great easy recipe!! Leftovers are great, one pot can make a several lunches!

Awesome. Used saurkraut. Next time I will remember to warm the milk before adding yeast. Probably will be more fluffy. I loved them. Kids did, too.

Awesome, easy. Made beef gravy from a packet mix and added to soup. It made a superior topping for mashed potatoes.

Very easy and good. Un used portion used again later on any noodles. Kid favorite. I splurged and got expensive fresh ground parmesian. Dont know if it made a difference, but it was eaten up fast!

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Aug. 23, 2009
I think I will be making this every week maybe even twice. This is the absoulute BEST potato soup ever. Very easy to make. I tried to follow the recipe exactly, but ended up having to add a tsp of flour and a tbs. of butter. I thought it was never going to thicken up, but then I turned the heat up, and it didnt take long at all. I wish I could add more stars as this recipe definitley deserves it. : )

Cabbage Rolls II

Reviewed: Aug. 21, 2009
A GREAT recipe for bachelors who drink while cooking. This Polish / Ukrainian dish went well with a bottle of Riesling (didn’t the Germans conquer Eastern Europe?). I, also conquered, was very, very liberal with all ingredients. I quadrupled sauce, added diced tomatoes, added chopped carrots and bell pepper. Lebanese friends suggested allspice, too. What the heck, it’s almost Ramadan. Cabbage head was boiled 8 minutes, cored side down first 4 minutes, cored side up for the last 4, as per advice from another cook's comments, so as not to scald myself when dumping in strainer for draining. Good idea. But I should have boiled about 5 minutes longer. I also baked at 350 for 1 hour rather than slow cook. I didn’t eat until the next day, so it was really tasty, like everything that spends the night in the fridge. Men, you can't screw this up unless you drink an entire bottle of Riesling and add way too much pepper, salt, lemon juice or Worcester sauce. So take it easy. Or you can screw it up if your woman cooked it and you offer up no compliments or refuse to eat it "cause it aint meat ‘n taters". Again, take it easy. Don’t be a total pig. PS: my kids balked (nay, gagged) at the very description. And it looked even worse. But tasted GREAT! My advice: consider this an NC17 rated dinner. But by all means, use this recipe as a skeleton and then go wild and crazy with your spices, sauces, wine and intuition. Note: the total pig side of me is objecting to my last sentence

Curry Chicken Salad

It was just ok. Better the next day. In mine: grapes, celery, walnuts, garlic powder, lots of curry. Red leaf lettuce and whole wheat tortilla made a great wrap. Sriracha hot chili sauce as a condiment was great, but its really hot - be careful!

This is the most beautiful and delicious cakes!! It received rave reviews from EVERYONE who had a bite. I toasted the nuts and added extra toasted nuts to the iced sides of the cake for added taste and decoration. This is going to be the standard for which I judge all carrot cakes!

Tuna Salad With Fresh Dill

I very much enjoyed this recipe. It is very light tasting and perfect! I really liked adding yogurt, not only did it cut the fat, it also added a delightful tang. This is going to be my tuna salad recipe from now on! Note... I didn't have fresh dill s I had to sub with dried, still wonderful though.

I can't imagine how good this must be if you have all the ingredients. Used Merlot as I am a heart patient and keep a lot of Merlot on hand. Had to blend garlic powder with the broth as I was out of fresh garlic. But all that aside it was delicious.

IMO, not enough sauce to go with the amount of pasta that the recipe called for. It was also a bit bland. Next time I'm going to use some garlic, 2 cans of cream of mushroom soup and a cup of milk. It was good - just needs some tweeking. Thanks.

My Country Style Steak

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2009
This was excellent! I have never been good with cube steak, but his turned out great! I cut mine in finger sized pieces and it was tender and the gravy was just right. I did deglaze my pan with a little wine and added a bit of beef broth as it cooked to make more gravy, but that's all. Next time I'll remember to add mushrooms. This is definitely a keeper for us. Thanks for a great recipe!!!
