It's Chili by George!!

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2008
This was my first time making chili, and I was lucky to find the perfect recipe. My boyfriend and I love spicy food (being southerners and all), so I put in Louisiana hot sauce and hot cherry peppers along with the chili powder. The result was a hot, thick chili that was devoured almost immediately. We're hurting now, but it was worth it! Thanks, George!

This couldn't have been easier or more delicious. I followed the recipe exactly for just one pie, using strawberry-banana gelatin. Came out perfect.

I made this recipe into triangles, and it still worked perfectly. It was my first time using phyllo, but after a few, I got the hang of it. Also, I added a few chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, and Heath bits to the filling for variety. They were sinfully delicious!

Oatmeal Butterscotch Cookies

Reviewed: Aug. 11, 2008
This is the exact recipe from Hershey's, but it really is the best one I've tried. I found that if I roll the dough into little balls, it holds together better and doesn't run. Sometimes I add a little nutmeg with the cinnamon. My boyfriend is always asking me to make these for him, and he's not even big on sweets.

Candied Chicken Breasts

Reviewed: Jul. 17, 2008
I was looking for a recipe that used ingredients I already had at home so I didn't have to go to the grocery store. I found this recipe and followed it pretty exact, only left out the pineapple and I cut my chicken breasts in thirds because they were pretty big. I was very pleased with the results. The whole family loved it, even my 6 year old and 1 year old. I will definitely make this again.

Chicken Cordon Bleu I

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2008
Just delicious !! Not very time consuming, and makes a wonderful meal. Instead of salt and pepper, I used a cajun seasoning ('cause I'm from Louisiana) and I used provolone, because that's what I had ... great flavor !! Also, I heated a can of cream of chicken soup, 1/2 cup sour cream, mushrooms, garlic, couple of splashes of white wine and s&p as a dipping sauce (or when dish is done, pour over all). And/or serve as "gravy" over pasta and chicken. So good !

Burgundy Pork Tenderloin

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2008
This was great! I followed the recipe exactly except I omitted the celery. Next time I will add more onion, they were delicious. The pork was tender and the gravy had a great flavor. It didn't say if you cooked it covered so I covered it the first25 minutes and then uncovered for the remainder of the time. A simple, delicious way to cook a pork tenderloin!

Acapulco Chicken

This is a great base recipe to add to to suit your tastes. I used canned diced tomatoes because I didn't have any fresh. I also added a can of black beans and a can of corn. I used a half of a cup of chicken broth to give me a little more sauce and let it all simmer for a few minutes. It was great over rice, but even better as quesadillas next day for lunch!

Cake Mix Cookies IV

Reviewed: Jun. 19, 2008
I LOVE this recipe! I love it's versatility and how quickly it can be prepared. I've tried several variations so far...yellow cake mix, with a chocolate drizzle...this were ok. Then I tried chocolate cookies, rolling some of the balls in powdered sugar, and some in cocoa powder. The cocoa powder disappeared, both in flavor and appearance. But the powdered sugar comes out really nicely and tastes great. However, my favorite variation so far was the one I just tried. I followed the recipe exactly...choosing a BC Butter Pecan Cake mix. Then I rolled the balls in a mixture of powdered sugar and cinnamon. When I put them on the cookie sheet, I flattened them into little patties with my fingertips. I let them bake just until they had risen a little. I pulled them out before they had a chance to brown really (the cinnamon gives that appearance) and they were still very chewy in the middle when they were all cool. I think it was about 7-8 minutes. They were DIVINE! I think they're my favorite cookie of all time, even better than chocolate chip cookies. So try this variation, I think you'll like it.

S'mores Crumb Bars

I'm not sure what happened but my "crust" never did set so mine couldn't really be considered bars. I followed the directions exactly. They tasted great and filled my craving for S'mores! Next time I will try prebaking the crust before topping with the marshmallows and chocolate chips.

Porcupines

Love this recipe with mashed potatoes and green beans!! I use leftover rice for this dish, because it just didn't get done if cooked in the lean meatballs. And you have to cover the dish with foil or the rice that's sticking out will get crispy !! I don't brown the meatballs before baking them, they will fully cook in the oven, and not fall apart. I pour the tomato sauce over it during the last part of baking. Just season these like you would a meatloaf or hamburgers. Really good !!

Savory Crescent Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 20, 2008
This is a good base recipe. The first time I made it, I followed the recipe as submitted. The 2nd time I made them, I wanted to spice them up a little, so I added sliced mushrooms, diced jalapeno peppers, garlic and red pepper flakes. I omitted the pimentos and croutons. Worth trying, and adding your own touch to it.

Heavenly Chocolate Mousse

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2008
I made this as a dessert to follow my 1 year anniversary dinner. It is amazing! It is also very rich. I've got a sweet tooth, so I didn't mind. My husband, on the other hand isn't normally a dessert person. He'd take a bite and say how rich and filling it was, but he never put his spoon down! He scraped the insides of the glass with it, in fact. I take that as a compliment coming from him. For someone else who asked, I did make it with milk chocolate. I used plain old Hershey's bars actually. It turned out really good and you could really tell it was Hershey's. I followed the rest of the recipe exactly. I spooned it into martini glasses, piped whipped cream on top using the star tip, and I used a little more melted chocolate to make little xoxo's to stick down in the cream. It was beautiful and elegant.

I just have to say that I was seriously disappointed in this recipe. It was so very bland, that my family doesn't want me to fix it again. I'm sure that doctoring it up would probably help, but I won't try this recipe again, since my family was so unimpressed with the dish.
