Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2008
I didn't have 2 cans of cream of chicken, so I used 1 can cream of chicken, 1 can cream of mushroom. I sauted my onions and added a tablespoon of garlic, then sauted the chicken before adding to the crockpot. I used boneless, skinless breasts, and added a can of milk in addition to the water. I also added a dash of celery seed and black pepper. WONDERFUL dish.. will be making this alot.

I omitted the mushrooms. I added a can of Rotel and doubled the chips and left them whole as the bottom crust. I also used an entire can of cream of chicken. YUMMY!

Norwegian Waffles

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2008
This is a fantastic recipe for those who, like me, don't have time to make the traditional belgian waffle recipe. Those recipes always call for yeast and sitting for an hour. Who has time for that?? So this morning when my twin 2 year olds were asking for "wapples" for breakfast, I mixed this up in a flash and made delicious waffles for the whole family. I have a Waring Professional waffle maker (the kind that you fill and turn) and this recipe made 4 giant waffles. Plenty enough to freeze for another day. I used the recipe exactly as written and it was perfect.

Well,so far it doesn't look too good. I'll update if this changes, but with 25 minutes left the bread has sunk, and I've never had that happen. Not sure what is going on, but will update, either way!

Parmesan Herb Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2008
I took a chance too cause this sounded so good. It is really good. I didn't have the dill so left it out, and used the grated cheese from the cannister and will definetly use fresh and grate it myself next time. But very good bread, and really easy to do this. Can't wait for my family to devour it! Thanks!

Healthy Banana Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2008
4 stars is fair. These cookies were a nice change for me. I took a few to work and offered them to coworkers that I new would appreciate "sugar-free", and they seemed to like them enough to ask for the recipe. I used raisins instead of dates and added apples like previous reviews did, and can see how Walnuts would add another texture and flavor that would make them even better. I will probably make again, because I have so many diabetic relatives that would love them.

Five-Veggie Stir-Fry

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2008
Pretty good recipe, glad I cut the sugar in 1/2,as suggested by other reviews. I didn't care for the orange part of this. Guess I'm not into sweet stir fry as much as I thought. I might try this without the orange juice and ginger and sub broth and crushed pepper, and increase soy sauce a bit.

Slow Cooker Chicken Taco Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2008
Made this for book club this week. I had some bone in chicken breast so I boiled them the day before and deboned the chicken. I used the broth for my base added Rotel w/green chilis, black, pinto & chili beans (can of each) and a can of Ranch Style w/jalapenos. I seasoned with Taco seasoning we buy the large containers and I probably used about 3 tablespoons. I also added finely chopped onion and simmered for a couple of hours the first day then heated for 30 minutes or so the next day before serving. I also added a package of Ranch dressing mix the second day. I used mozzarella in stead of cheddar, and the ladies loved it! I usually use the sour cream and chips, but no time to pick them up and make it to the meeting on time. But it is better w/sour cream & chips. Will make this a lot in the future. I really think letting it refrigerate overnight made it more flavorful.

Spicy Garlic and Pepper Shrimp

This is great! I fixed it without cabbage the first time and added celery, carrots, yellow, green & red bell peppers & brocolli. Also added a little cornstarch to thicken for a gravy for the rice I served it with. My family was impressed, will fix this again & again!

Good base recipe for me. I did add pepper flakes, and ginger as previous reviews recommended, and increased the amounts for more sauce. We loved the dish and plan on making again. I also added mushrooms, yellow, red, orange, green peppers and celery. Oh, and also added shrimp at the end, and they were awesome!! Thanks!

Buttermilk Honey Wheat Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2007
I followed the recipe as far as the ingredients, but used the "manual" instructions listed by another reviewer, since I don't have a bread machine. This bread is wonderful!! I look forward to making this again, and hopefully will have a new mixer by that time, that will help with the dough!

Buttermilk Cinnamon Rolls

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2007
My first cinnamon rolls ever and I was pleased. They ate them so fast at work, it was amusing. I followed the recipe exactly and found an icing recipe on here with cream cheese, butter and powdered sugar & vanilla extract. Also, I refrigerated them overnight and didn't have time for them to get to "room temperature" so after 20 minutes or so on the counter I put them in the oven anyway. They were fine. Will make again, really easier that I had ever thought they would be.

Turkey Pot Pie I

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2007
I followed pretty much everything except I went with the gravy mix in place of the boullion cubes, and added water because of the previous reviews and it seemed to need it. It turned out awesome! I'm going to try it next time with portobellos in place of turkey for my daughter, can't wait to fix again. My husband absolutely loved it, and it was great the next day for lunch! Thanks!!
