Whole Wheat Pasta

Very delicious pasta. My wife was a little nervous of me making pasta but decided it was very tasty. The only thing I did was add a few teaspoons of water to get it to come together.

Mom's Sushi Rice

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2011
I was looking for something to make with hawaiian pulled pork and found this recipe. It's amazing! I didn't have sushi rice, so I made it with another short grain starchy rice and it turned out perfectly. I also didn't make it with the konbu, but it turned out just like the sticky rice I've had in so many hawaiian restaurants. Thanks for the great recipe!

Corn on the Grill

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2011
Don't think I could ever eat grilled corn any other way again...This was awesome! I too brushed the butter concoction on the corn & kept the husks on while grilling. Wonderful smokey flavor! The black kernels aren't burnt...they're delish!! You won't be sorry!

Cheesy Brat Stew for the Slow Cooker

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2011
OK, lol...so I reallllly went out on a limb here...I had the brats but not potatoes but had some Walmart potato soup in the can. Yes, I did the unthinkable! I took the brats out of their casings in big chucks, fried it up & added 1 c chicken broth scraping up the bits. Then added the can of soup, some dried onion, then some angel hair pasta. OMGosh! Amazing flavor! Topped it with some shredded cheddar & voila! Enough for a family of 6...have fun & experiment...that's what it's all about, right?

Vegan Pancakes

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2011
I made these yesterday for breakfast and they were amazing! I realized I didn't have eggs after I had already promised pancakes to the family. I made them with fat free milk, and I substituted 1/2 cup of all purpose flower with whole wheat flower. And just to try it out I added cinnamon, nutmeg, Ginger, and cardamom. They turned out fantastic! A great base recipe for egg free pancakes!

Creamy Lemon Squares

I made these the other day and oh my goodness! We couldn't stop eating them! Though I did make the crust with graham cracker since I don't like nilla wafers. They were so good, even though they were a little undercooked. I'm making them again tomorrow =]

Ooey-Gooey Cinnamon Buns

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2011
I just made these and they're alright. I did what other reviewers suggested and didn't melt the butter for the inside of the rolls, but did for the caramel sauce and they wound up being soggy on the bottom and crunchy on the top. Next time I won't melt any of the butter and hopefully they turn out better. Still delicious, just the wrong texture. Also, I'm contemplating making these in the style of cinnamon rolls.

Quick Jambalaya

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2011
I made this for dinner for my southern husband and he LOVES it! If he hadn't been home when I made it he would've been convinced it took me all day. It comes close to real Jambalaya, and is a great substitute when time is an issue.

Special Buttercream Frosting

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2011
This is an amazing recipe! The only thing I changed is used 1 cup shortening and 1 cup butter, and since I didn't have any clear vanilla extract I used Almond extract and it made all the difference! I used this to frost cupcakes that I took to work and EVERYONE went nuts over the frosting!

Strawberry Oatmeal Breakfast Smoothie

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2011
I did what a couple other reviewers have done and put the oatmeal in the blender first and ground it into almost a powder and then added the ingredients. I didn't use as many strawberries, and instead used frozen raspberries. I also used frozen banana and added 1.5 heaping tablespoons of soy protein powder. It's good, just VERY thick and I think next time I'm going to cut the oatmeal in half. Great recipe!

Aunt Jewel's Chicken Dressing Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2011
After making a few changes this turned out very good. Like the others, I used half the soup because using all would be way too much. Also, while the chicken was boiling I added about a quarter cup of diced onion, 2 Tbl. of butter and 1 tsp sage to the boiling chicken. Using that broth to add to the dry dressing. I will be making this again because it's a great winter comfort dish. We had mixed veggies on the side and I think next time I will just add them and make this like a chicken pot pie since they went so well together.

Burrito Pie

This burrito pie is exceptional! I cut it in half since it's just my husband and I and the only thing I changed was using corn tortillas instead of flour and it was perfect! Just like Kathi said, be sure you like spicy because it's just that but, if you like spicy then this recipe is for you. I will definitly be making this one again! Thanks for posting!

Banana Cranberry Muffins

I really love this recipe! It's a great base muffin recipe. When I made them I couldn't tell if I liked the cranberry's or not. I think they were just too sweet for me. I love the banana though! Greatest banana muffin recipe ever!

Gnocchi in Fontina Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2010
I followed the sauce recipe to a T, and I wound up with sauce, with a giant cheese ball in the middle. The only reason I'm even upset about it is that the cheese I used was VERY expensive, and just wish it had at least turned out. Thankfully the sauce that the cheese ball was in was still pretty tasty. Needless to say I won't be making any more cheese sauces in the near future.

French Apple Bread Pudding

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2010
I'm not rating this fairly because I don't know what went wrong with mine. I made it a few weeks ago and couldn't figure out what went wrong. The bottom was basically soup, and the top was burnt bread. Anyone have any ideas to what went wrong??

Peanut Butter and Pumpkin Dog Treats

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2010
I made this a while ago for my dog, my mom's dog, and my brother-in-law's two dogs. (3 of them weigh less than 15 lbs and the other is a BIG lab) I doubled the recipe, and while it looked like a lot of treats, it was just the right amount. I made them in the shape of little gingerbread men and the dogs loved them! And I loved that they didn't make my house smell funky! =]
