Caramel Frosting VI

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2009
Very yummy! I wanted to use it as a glaze for spice cookies, so I added a little more milk than it called for to ensure that it was thin enough to drizzle. It's delicious! It tastes like the inside of a pecan pie, and it goes wonderfully with my cookies. I only gave it 4 stars because it never hardened, but maybe that was because of the extra milk?

Baked Zucchini Squares

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2009
My mother wanted an interesting alternative for Thanksgiving Dinner for use of Zucchini. She sliced the zucchini instead of chopping. They turned out ok but I'd be willing to give one more try slicing the zucchini differently. All in all it was very easy to do, no hassle extra for a busy dinner.

Corn Fritters

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2009
I usually like to make a recipe as its written, but I didn't have any flour. I followed the recipe exactly, but I used a cup of corn muffin mix instead of the flour. It was very tasty. I cooked it on the stove in some oil instead of the deep fryer(only cause I didn't want to clean it..lol). They were very good. Next time I will try it with the flour, but the corn muffin mix gave it a nice crunch and nice taste.

Vanilla Milkshake I

Reviewed: Aug. 31, 2009
I halved the recipe because I was only making it for me. I mixed it for a long time, but it never thickened like a milkshake is supposed to..the taste was good, but the consistency of a milkshake was not present. I don't know how long you are supposed to mix it, but I did it for almost 5 minutes, and it didn't change the thickness.

Pork Fried Rice for Two

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2009
My husband and I love this dish! I have made it many times. I always marinate the meat in soy sauce, brown sugar, and 5 spice for as long as possible before cooking, and I always skip the fennel seed. I have used various cuts of pork, chicken and beef, many different vegetables, and sometimes sesame, vegetable, or olive oil, but always this same basic recipe.

I would never think to eat tomatoes like this. Someone gave me a bunch of them right out of the garden, and other than salad, I didn't know what else to do with them. These were amazing!!!!!Thanks for such a simple and good recipe, def a keeper.

Daddy's Fried Corn and Onions

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2009
I needed a side dish, and this sounded simple enough. I didn't have fresh corn so I used can. This was awesome. Next time,I'll make sure I have fresh. I did add some cherry tomatoes to it like another viewer did. Goes to show, you don't need a lot to make something taste so good.

Buffalo Chicken Wings I

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2009
My rating is based on my cooking abilities and experience. I baked instead of deep fried, added some honey to the sauce, and then baked the sauce in. Was a hit with my family... although personally, I will probably dome something a little different next time, want a little more flavor...

Meatloaf Muffins

Reviewed: May 19, 2009
I didn't change the recipe at all, I just changed the way I cooked it. I know they are muffins, but I didn't want it soaking in grease, so instead of muffins, I made meatballs. I put in a pan on a grate with a little water on the bottom..I baked them at 350 for 30 minutes,I got about 60 meatballs, and no grease at all.

Tangy Slow Cooker Pork Roast

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2008
How could anyone say this was bland? That is beyond me. I made this today, using a 3 pound bone-in pork roast. The meat fell right off the bone. Cooked it in the crockpot for 8 hours on low..wow! It almost tastes like a saurbraten gravy, the onions are awesome. I thickened the gravy with flour/water, and place the meat back in the gravy. Going to serve it with mashed potatoes. I figured after seeing 513 reviews, most of them being positive this was the one to make. Definatly going to make again. Now, I'm going to pass this one on to my brother, he loves to cook, and will appreciate this recipe.

Beer Batter

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2008
It was easy to make, and I had all ingredients on hand. It needed some salt though, and if you didn't eat the food right away, it got soggy. Other than that it was just alright. I added extra garlic powder and pepper, but it was still bland. I think I'll stick to the one I buy in the box.
