Neiman Marcus Cake II

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2009
This was very good! I used about 2 1/2 cups sugar since other reviews said it had been a bit too sweet. I don't think the cake was any worse because of this change! I think next time I will use 2 packages of cream cheese though for more of a cheese cakey taste and less sugary taste. May also layer coconut between the cake mix & the topping and then add some chocolate chips on the very top. Mmmmm!

Cowboy Stew II

This stew is quick, easy, delicious and filling! I added garlic and a half jar of jalapeños because it was cold out and a spicy stew was just what I wanted.

No Beans About It - Chili

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2009
Was very happy to find a chili recipe that my boyfriend (who won't eat beans) and I (who loves beans) could both agree we liked! This was very easy and tasty. We'll be making this again with the cold, winter months approaching!

Bacon Wrapped Duck Breasts

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2009
This recipe is wonderful!! I have made it a couple of times now. Letting it soak the dressing keeps the flavor locked inside as well. Also, cooking time is key when cooking duck. If you over cook it you will end up with more of a "liver flavor". I'm not crazy about that. Its great when you go for more of a med/rare instead of a med/well. Great recipe!!! A keeper!

Holiday Cranberry Yeast Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2008
I rarely try a recipe without of lot of reviews, but I gave this a try. Our bread didn't rise. My husband thinks it was the age of the yeast, but I have my doubts. It was also a very sticky dough when I was kneeding it. As if there wasn't enough flour, or too much moisture, but I didn't know how to control the issue, so I stopped adding flour and let the bread to what it would, and it didn't do much. I will try to make this again, and re-review. Other suggestions are appreciated.

These turned out great. I made the change of using a few drops of lorann gourmet pina colada flavoring oil, instead of the vanilla and almond extract to just have a change from the traditional and my family loved them.

Pumpkin Pancakes

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2008
This recipe is wonderful, I love this time of year because of all the pumpkin goodies. I decided to make pumpkin pancakes today instead of going to Village Inn for them! LOL I did make a couple of slight changes for my family, I added 1/2 cup finely chopped pecans and 1 finely chopped apple to the batter. I used only fresh grated nutmeg and cinn. instead of the pumpkin pie spice. I didn't use walnuts in the syrup due to allergies and I just added the pecans to the batter. Yum, Yum, Yumm! Thanks for the wonderful recipe!

Quick Chick!

Reviewed: Oct. 7, 2008
May have solved the "needs something" comment from some previous reviewers. I added McCormicks Herb Chicken Seasoning and some onions! (I'm sure any poultry seasoning would work.) The sauce was pretty runny but nothing a little cornstarch couldn't fix. Overall, this is a quick, easy meal with almost no prep and all kinds of possible variations. This one is a keeper!

Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies I

These are absolutely delicious!! The only thing I changed was lowering the amount of white sugar to one cup, and adding a half cup of brown sugar. The cookies came out perfectly after eight minutes. Very chocolate, moist, sweet, and brownie-like. My kids and I love them.

Best Ever Banana Bread

Reviewed: Jul. 1, 2008
This recipe is certainly terrific. Like others, I added about a teaspoon of cinnamon and freshly-grated nutmeg, and that gave it just the right hint of spice. The bread was easy to make, but the best part is that it's moist and delicious.

Smoky Four Cheese Macaroni Bake

Reviewed: Jul. 1, 2008
This was SOOO good!!! I followed the recipe pretty much except that I didn't have Swiss, so I used a "fiesta" mix of shredded cheese (Monterey Jack, Asiago, etc.), and I didn't top it with breadcrumbs. I've never had mac and cheese with liquid smoke, but it was absolutely delicious, and I love the flavor it added. I'll definitely be making this again!

Chocolate Yeast Bread

Reviewed: Jun. 24, 2008
This bread (I made rolls) turned out pretty well, but only with a lot of modifications. I followed Terry137's ingredient recommendations, except I used 4 and 1/2 cups of flour, omitted the oats, and added a teaspoon of chocolate extract to my milk. I let the dough rise until doubled, then punched it down and divided it into 2-inch rolls. No second rise-- just baked them for 30 minutes at 375 degrees. I also drizzled a sugar glaze on top while they were still warm. For a sweeter roll (because these *smell* a lot sweeter than they are), next time I might try adding some unmelted chocolate chips to the dough.
