BBQ Pork for Sandwiches

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2009
I didn't have the beef broth so I just used water and my ribs had the bone in. I didn't even need 2 forks to shred, it was so tender it fell apart! Followed the rest of the recipe and all I can say is, I thought my way of doing this was good...but your version has replaced mine in the recipe box! Thank you for sharing!

Slow Cooker Beef Stroganoff I

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2009
Always looking for something new to make cause the simpler it is the better my husband likes it. We both enjoyed this meal, I had a package of beef ribs in the freezer I used for the meat. I almost forget the cream cheese and because it wasn't thick at that point, I added about a tablespoon of cornstarch to thicken the gravy, then I remembered the cream chesse. I like mushrooms, he doesn't so I sauteed them and put them on my portion only. Both of us were happy! I'll be adding this to my recipes. Thank you for sharing!

Pumpkin Cake II

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2009
This was like a cake version of pumpkin pie and I loved it! As someone else suggested, I used 15 oz. can of pumpkin instead of 1 cup. I added: 1 tsp. pumpkin pie spice, 1 tsp. nutmeg and 1/2 tsp. cloves and I baked in a bundt pan for 45 minutes. I would suggest making it a day ahead cause it's much tastier after it sits a while and although I tried a caramel glaze that I failed, this morning I'm having it with Cool Whip and that is all you need on this cake along with a cup of coffee. I'm making it again for Thanksgiving, putting it in my recipe gift books and THANK YOU FOR SHARING!

Cut-Out Cookies in a Flower Pot

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2009
Thank you Laura for giving me the sugar cookie cut out recipe I have been searching for! After leaving the dough in the fridge overnight, it was hard. Left it out a while and worked with it and it was just fine. These are not to sweet and don't have that flour taste so many cookies do. Used another reviewer's suggestion and used JBS BOX's recipe on here for sugar cookie icing. I have Halloween cookies that are bakery quality and everyone who tasted them said the same thing. If you want a crisper cookie, cut them thinner. Once they start browning around the edges, they are done. BUT, even my overbaked ones tasted good. I used parchment paper to bake them on. Didn't change the recipe at all. I can't wait to make Christmas cookies in all different shapes this year with this recipe!

Sugar Cookie Icing

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2009
Used this icing to decorate Halloween cookies with my 4 and 8 year old great nieces and it is the best I've tried! I used orange extract for pumpkins, almond for bats and vanilla for ghosts and all were tasty. Put this icing with the Cut Out Cookies In a Flower Pot recipe on this web site and you have a perfect "bakery quality" cookie. I'm anxious to make Christmas cookies with this recipe and decorate gingerbread boys! Thank you for sharing!

Daddy's Whisker Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 1, 2009
Thank you for sharing this recipe! I put too much milk so I added some instant potatoes to thicken, a bit of garlic powder and my husband requested some bacon bits to put on top. I didn't have any dill, but if I missed anything, I sure didn't taste it! First cold day after Summer and yummy hot soup for dinner. I'll make this again and pass it along as well!

Amaretto

Reviewed: Oct. 1, 2009
To me, this tastes just as good as the kind from the store. I even used cheap vodka and it turned out amazing. It makes great drinks. My favorite is an amaretto sour with ice, cold water, and lime juice. Yummy!

Slow Cooker Venison Roast

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2009
The only thing I did different is 1) I used 3lbs of vennison tenderloin and 2) I added about 2 tablespoons of minced fresh garlic. You couldn't even tell it was venison, it tasted more like a beef roast.

Rosemary Ranch Chicken Kabobs

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2009
WOW! My husband said this was the best chicken he's ever eaten. It was really good! I didn't have any rosemary, so I used dried Basil instead, and I marinated it for probably 2-3 hours. It turned out awesome! I will be making this again and again. Next time I might marinate some mushrooms in this marinade and make some kabobs with peppers and onions! YUM!

Asian Salmon Wrap

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2009
This recipe rocks! I had to make a couple changes to suit my family, so here's what I did -- The cucumber I bought at the store had a really bitter flavor (??? it looked fine!) so I substituted slices of avocado, instead. Instead of tossing the dressing with the avocado, I just put it in a squirt bottle and drizzled it over the wrap once I had it assembled. It was DELISH! My picky family loved it, and I love that this dish can be customized any way you want. I put out some of our favorite sushi condiments as well (pickled ginger, wasabi for the brave...) and everyone loved it. I can totally see turning this into a fun party appetizer, by making pinwheels with the ingredients. Sort of like sushi for those too chicken to try sushi! I had no problem with canned salmon. If you get a good quality salmon, it works just fine. It would be fine with grilled salmon, as well. Thanks for this recipe! This is definitely going into frequent rotation at my house!

Pudding No-Bake Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Jul. 25, 2009
This recipe is a new staple for us! I love it! I did adjust the portions based on a few reviews and wanted to cut down on fat - I used 1 stick of butter (1/2 cup), 2/3 cup of sugar. They turned out so yummy, and not sure if the reduction in butter made them less gooey but mine sat fine. Not sure where they get 48 servings though, I made 24 rounded tablespoons and they turned out great! Thanks for sharing!

REJECT - Crescents Turkey Cranberry Pinwheels

Reviewed: Jul. 10, 2009
I really like the idea of it, but the cranberry sauce causes everything to slide around, so you can't really roll it up nicely in order to slice it into pinwheels. What was salvaged was just kind of blah for flavor.

Chicken Meatball Soup

Reviewed: Jul. 10, 2009
I loved this soup! I used ground turkey rather than chicken for an even lighter meal and skipped the baking of the meatballs. It's unnecessary. You can just drop the meatballs into the boiling soup. I served it over egg noodles. Delicious, flavorful, and comforting.

Thick Chocolate Shake

Reviewed: Jul. 10, 2009
Very good milkshake. Powered egg whites were $11/can at my local Kroger, plus $3 for the Nesquick, and $3 for the ice cream. That equals a pretty expensive milkshake. I hope I can find something else to do with those egg whites. If you're trying to save money and don't already have the egg whites in your pantry, skip them. I think the shake would be just as tasty.

Italian Meatball Sandwich Casserole

Reviewed: Jun. 1, 2009
Excellent. Just some small changes based on other reviewers. I added oregano, italian seasoning and garlic to the meatballs. I swapped ricotta cheese for the mayo and did not use the water for the sauce. I did toast the bread before hand and just spread the cheese mixture on each slice. Turned out super gooey and yummy! Thanks so much for sharing!

Tuna Noodle Casserole II

Reviewed: May 25, 2009
Excellent! Made it as stated (ingredients listed), only didn't add the chips on the top and only had colby jack cheese so I used that instead. One thing I didn't realize it til was too late was mixing them separately. I threw everything in the pot with the after I drained the pasta and it turned out great. Added peas too - kids loved it!

Banana Banana Bread

Reviewed: May 25, 2009
This is a great staple banana bread recipe. I am playing around with different recipes and find that the ones that include sour cream are more moist and seems to taste more "bananany" - Adding chocolate chips or nuts helps this recipes add more taste.
