Easy Vegetarian Stroganoff

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2009
Argh, really? I was excited about this, especially with the good reviews. Mine ended up being nearly flavorless TVP and Oats, with mushrooms hiding in the midst. Dry (even after I added more water and then milk) and to me, stroganoff is creamy. the TVP just soaked up the cream of mushroom. If I try again I'll SERIOUSLY cut back TVP and ratchet up the creamy and the flavor. Only 2 stars (instead of 1) because this was my first attempt at this recipe (kept checking to be sure I hadn't missed something).

Quinoa with Chickpeas and Tomatoes

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2009
LOVE the flavors! This is so light and flavored that you could totally eat the whole thing in one sitting. I added some [fake] grilled chicken (seasoned it with a bit of extra olive oil, garlic powder, and cumin), because of other reviews. Stellar. Usually I don't rate until after a repeat attempt, but this was solidly good.

Super-Delicious Zuppa Toscana

Reviewed: Sep. 28, 2009
This is absolutely delicious!! Leftovers won't last long when you make this soup! I forgot to get bacon so I had to do without. It was still delicious, not as heavy with it. Also I used a couple cups of frozen spinach instead of kale. My husband devoured it, it's his new favorite soup. My 6 year old ate her entire bowl and wanted seconds. I love this! Best of all it's so easy to throw together, from start to finish it took maybe 30 40 minutes to make. It tasted like I had been cooking all day.

Simple Turkey Chili

Reviewed: Sep. 28, 2009
Really good stuff! I made this on a whim I had a lb. of turkey I needed to use. I used one can of kidney beans and one can of black beans. I seasoned the turkey with Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder and a dash of my favorite hot sauce. Also, added a good bit of italian seasoning, extra cumin and a touch of cinnamon. This was different from your everyday chili, richer not as tomato based. I loved it!!

Different Chicken Divan

Reviewed: Sep. 18, 2009
This is my favorite meal! I first had a chicken divan casserole nearly identical to this one, when eating dinner at my mother in-laws. It became an instant favorite. To me it's just not chicken divan without the curry. I follow this recipe, except I use two teaspoons of curry and also I make a cup of white instant rice. I layer the rice in the bottom. It soaks up all the sauce and makes it more filling. Also I usually top with French's fried onions the last 5 minutes of cooking. Everyone always loves this!

Hamburger Stew

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2009
This turned out delicious!! I made it on a whim because I had some carrots and potatoes I needed to use. I used a can of petite diced tomatoes in place of the tomato soup and also added a can of corn and a can of black beans drained, instead of the pork and beans. It was so fast and easy to throw together. I seasoned the hamburger with a little garlic powder and some worcestershire sauce. Then I just threw everything in the pot, and let it simmer. It was ready in under an hour and tasted like I had taken all day to make it. It would also be a great slow-cooker recipe. Everyone in my family enjoyed it. My six very old devoured a bowl and my husband went back for seconds and said it was a definite keeper. Next time I might add another lb of hamburger to stretch it a little further.

Classy Chicken

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2009
this is a very good recipe, once you make it a few times. i use chicken breast tenders, add pepper and johnny's seasoning while frying, use two zucchini, and use fresh chopped up tomato instead of sundried. i also use a little less mustard than called for and a little more sour cream. i add the sour cream into the pan with the chicken, instead of serving separately. i then add a little garlic salt, which i think makes everything better! my husband and i really enjoy this meal over rice.

The Best Chicken Soup Ever

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2009
I'm a huge soup lover but this was my first experience making homemade chicken soup. It won't be my last this was perfect! Everyone in my family was sick with a bad cold. So, despite being August and 90 degrees outside I decided a batch of chicken soup is just what we needed! This was also my first try at boiling a whole chicken I boiled mine on low for nearly two hours and it was so yummy! The meat was literally falling off the bone. I also boiled my chicken with a few stalks of celery and an onion. I then used my homemade chicken stock instead of using canned broth. It was delicious! I also added garlic, a chopped onion and a package of cream of spinach. Added a bit of color and nutrients. It was wonderful! Just what we needed. Even my picky three year old enjoyed it. It made enough to feed an army. We ate leftovers for 3 days! I will definitely make this again. Next time I might use egg noodles instead of the bow tie. There were a little large and hard for my kids to spoon. Otherwise perfect!!

Salmon with Brown Sugar Glaze

Reviewed: Jul. 9, 2009
This is so quick and easy. To help remove fishy taste I thaw or soak it first in buttermilk. Then we like citrus on fish so I put orange slices on top while baking. It gives the smallest hint of orange with all the sweetness. I serve with rice and sugar snap peas.

Award Winning Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Jun. 29, 2009
I have a small baking business. A lady at work wanted a soft chocolate chip cookie for her little girls school party and I made these. She loved them. They told me they stayed soft for days. Since then I have made them numerous times and always get the same response. The last time I used chocolate pudding, chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, mini Reese's cups(frozen and cut in 1/4's), chopped pecans and coconut. They were fantastic!!! Thanks for a great recipe.

Hamburger Pie

Reviewed: Apr. 3, 2009
I thought this was a pretty good recipe. Nothing special, but pretty tasty if you add some extra spices. I added garlic salt and pepper to my meat mixture. Only used three potatoes, then mashed them with some butter, salt and pepper. I put the potatoes on top of the meat mixture and covered the top with about twice the amount of cheese called for. I wish I would have put some cheese between the meat and potato mixture as well. In the end, this recipe just seemed to me and my husband to be another version of Sheperd's Pie. Not bad though.

Two Tier Strawberry Pie

Awesome strawberry pie! I've made it several times now and everyone loves it! I do make one change however. I use about twice the cream cheese called for and half the whipped topping...I think this makes it better.

Meat Loaf Pie

My husband and I were not crazy about this one. I thought there were too many mashed potatoes and just nothing special about it. Reminds me of sheperd's pie, but I prefer the sheperd's pie.
