Barbecue Ribs

Reviewed: Aug. 3, 2008
I did not care for this recipe. I am concerned my dislike had something to do with my choice of ribs. I tried the same type ribs on another recipe and they were much better. So that being said, these were tough and the rum flavor was not good. It was a ton of work for what I got in the end. I will not be making these again.

Chicken Pot Pie II

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2008
Excellent recipe! I used poultry seasoning instead of the parsley an thyme. I also added about an extra cup of broth. I like my pot pie to bubble out of the crust, which this one did. I used a store bought deep dish crust. It made it pretty sweet. I will try some other crust next time.

Frosted Banana Bars

Reviewed: Jul. 20, 2008
I hope this is better after it sits for a while. I just made these and without the frosting, I don't think I would be able to eat them. I don't know what I was expecting, since I have never had banana bars before. Maybe they are supposed to taste like this!

Chocolate Ganache

Reviewed: Jul. 14, 2008
I used this between layers of a beautiful 4 layer cake. It was thin enough to soak into the cake then I covered it with icing. It gave the cake that little something extra I was looking for! It has a wonderful dark flavor and just the right amount of sweetness when combined with everything else.

New Wife Tuna Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 14, 2008
I am basing my review off the reaction this recipe created. I took this and "summer chicken salad" to work. I thought everyone would ooh and aah over the chicken. It was the tuna that had everyone going! I got compliments all day. I don't like tuna salad but of course I tried it. I thought it was spicy and not even a hint of sweet. Everyone else loved it, so that's fine with me!

Rich Chocolate Frosting

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2008
I am trying many different chocolate frosting recipes for a cake I am making for work. So far, this one is my favorite. It is rich and creamy, not too sweet, has just the right amount of chocolate flavor, and the butter flavor is fantastic. The only thing I don't like is the color. It is just too light. The flavor more than makes up for that though!

Honey Mustard Grilled Chicken

Reviewed: Jul. 2, 2008
Not my favorite recipe. Too much mustard taste and too sweet. I let the chicken marinade for about 3 hours, maybe it was too much. I prefer the honey mustard for the Aussie Chicken MUCH, MUCH more.

Summer Chicken Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 30, 2008
I JUST made this and even with canned chicken (I used 2 cans) and not sitting, this is so delicious!!! I added about 20 grapes cut in half and walnuts instead of pecans. My sample was on a mini croissant. I can't wait to try it again later after it has a chance to sit for a while. What a wonderful summer treat!

Grandpa's Classic Coney Sauce

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2008
This was pretty tasty, just not exactly like any coney sauce I have tried before. It was a little sweet. If I make this again, I will invest in a small hand held chopper to get the meat ground up to the correct coney consistency!

Chocolate Banana Cream Pie

Reviewed: Jun. 20, 2008
I would give this 3.5 stars; the (single) men I served it to gave it a 4.5. I have found they think anything they didn't have to cook delicious. I think this tasted like cool whip, vanilla pudding, bananas, and chocolate. There was no marriage of the flavors. I think it would have been much better with something added to the pudding. Maybe the coconut brings it all together. I didn't use any because none of us like it. I think I would put a little sweetened condensed milk into the pudding - or SOMETHING!

BBQ Pork for Sandwiches

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2008
This was excellent even without the bbq sauce. It was simple to make and for that it deserves 10 stars! I used "Big Al's" sauce. Next time I will probably use a bottled sauce, just to keep it extra simple.

Big Al's K.C. Bar-B-Q Sauce

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2008
I used this on "barbecue pork for sandwiches". It was really good. At first you taste the sweet, then the hot sneaks up on you. Neither is overwhelming. It makes a ton of sauce. I didn't think it would be too much but I still have enough for about 4 more recipes in my refrigerator.

Grilled Cabbage I

Reviewed: Jun. 14, 2008
I'm giving this 4 stars because I think I did something wrong. I have recently bought a new grill and I'm not used to it yet. My cabbage was slightly burned on the outside and just not done enough for my taste. It was fun to make and an excellent idea, I just don't know if I would try it again. I'd rather have mine steamed. The flavors didn't get fully into the cabbage.

Apple Enchilada Dessert

Reviewed: May 20, 2008
I should give this 5 stars but it was just too sweet (and I LOVE sweet). It was very good and so easy to make. I prepared it while I was cooking the rest of my dinner. I let it sit for a couple of hours then cooked it. I served it with vanilla ice cream. I will be making this again and again. I am going to experiment with the sugar. Oh, and I would add extra cinnamon.

Enchilada Casserole III

Reviewed: May 20, 2008
I really enjoyed this dish! I will never make regular enchiladas again. It was easy and very tasty. I used taco seasoning in the ground beef. I think it would have been way too bland had I not done that. I think the cheese was a bit strong. I don't really care for cheese, so maybe it was just me. I will cut down on the amount next time. All in all this was a fantastic dinner and something I could make any night of the week.

Grandma's Lemon Meringue Pie

Not like my grandma used to make! It was too sweet and the lemon flavor was faint. The filling tasted "eggy" to me.
