Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies I

Reviewed: Mar. 29, 2009
I was really hoping these would turn out better. I followed the recipe exactly and now I wish I had taken some of the other suggestions. The cookies didn't turn out pretty. They looked flat and greasy (they didn't taste greasy, by the way). I think maybe the addition of some vanilla might help. The flavor was really lacking.

Awesome Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Reviewed: Mar. 24, 2009
I made this recipe as is and I didn't have any issues with gravy or cut of meat. I used a 3.5 lb. chuck roast (trimmed it of course) and yes there was a bunch of gravy left but we love that extra gravy (it's great the next day after shredding the beef in it for roast beef sandwiches). I did season the roast with cajun seasoning, garlic powder, and McCormick's Natures Seasoning. This came out phenomenal and we loved it! Thanks!

Taco Seasoning I

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2009
I am not usually so disappointed with allrecipes recipes. I didn't like this at all. I am a die hard seasoning packet fan so I'm sure that had something to do with it. Actually, there is only one kind of seasoning I like or use so I guess that's the problem. Anyway, it was way too hot and it didn't taste anywhere near the seasoning packet I usually use. I was happy to use all of my own ingredients and know exactly what was in the combination. I used three tablespoons (which was all the recipe made) for about a pound and a half of ground beef. WAY too hot and not what I was looking for at all!

Potato Salad II

I love that someone, besides me, eats potato salad like this. I add egg and a little mustard to mine. I think I may add a dash of celery seed when I make it today! Thanks for the recipe!

Corn Dog Muffins

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2009
I'm going to have to give these just an "ok". I will eat what I made but I won't be making them again. They did remind me of a corndog, sort of. My biggest problem was they fell apart. Maybe that was something I did wrong. The batter seemed a little runny, to me. The flavor wasn't bad and I didn't think they were too sweet. Just nothing to write home about!

Best Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2009
I followed the recipe, except no walnuts. I can't believe how much I DO NOT like these. Very little flavor and very cake-like. I guess if you like them like that, this is the perfect recipe. I am so disappointed!

Pork Sausage Gravy

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2009
I'll admit, I changed the recipe a little but even as written I'm sure it is very good. I used 1 pound of sausage, 2 cups of milk, and about 1/3 cup of flour. I browned the sausage, added the flour and mixed it until I couldn't see the white of the flour anymore. I then added the milk 1/2 cup at a time. I stirred until it was thick and boiling, turned it down and added some pepper. I didn't add any salt; it didn't need any. I used mild sausage. I think it would have been better had I used a flavored sausage or maybe hot. Anyway, it was very good and I will be making it again.

Slow Cooker Pulled Pork

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2009
I have tried many pulled pork recipes. This one is my favorite but it's still not the best pulled pork I have ever eaten. I think it would be pretty close if it had a little more flavor. I think next time I will follow some other reviews and start with a dry rub. I would definitely recommend this one!

Broccoli Cheese Soup VIII

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2009
I used 3 bunches of fresh broccoli and I added bacon. I thought it was pretty good although not good enough to eat again the next day. The recipe made more than I thought it would. I might make this again but I will probably try a different recipe first.

Cajun Chicken and Sausage Gumbo

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2009
Hi everyone, I am the author of this recipe and from reading the reviews I thought I would add...the roux color is really dependent on how you would like it. I used milk chocolate as a reference as that's our family preference. If you would like it darker then you would just keep a stirrin until it's a color you would desire-it also intensifies the flavor. Also, if you do not like it thick then reduce the flour/oil ratio to maybe 1/2 c. flour to 1/2 c. oil. Thanks to everyone for trying the gumbo!! Jodi

Chicken and Stuffing Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2009
Very good and so easy. I think it took longer to open the soup than put the whole thing together. I used left over turkey. Other than that, I didn't change a thing. I think it was a little salty. I was fine for me but I will probably try the low sodium soups next time.

Sauteed Portobellos and Spinach

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2008
What a fantastic dish! The flavor was a perfect compliment to my Garlic Prime Rib. I used 16oz of fresh spinach, 3 mushrooms, and I accidentally forgot the parmesian. I bet when I make it again (very, very soon) and add the parmesian it will be the best spinach dish ever! Well, it already is, so it will just be even better.

Simple Baked Beans

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2008
I made these for a Christmas dinner at work. I bought a 72 oz can of beans. I didn't have any molasses so I used honey. I used about half the amount of bacon and onion. I can't count how many compliments I got. Everyone LOVED them! I am always looking for a good baked bean recipe. I will look no further!

Tiramisu II

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2008
WOW!!! This was delicious. It should be against the law to eat something this decadent. I could only find 3oz packages of lady fingers. I bought 5 packs and only used 2. I was extra generous so I can only think I used different ones than the recipe intended. I'm glad I had some left over. I can't wait to make this again!

Cream Cheese Frosting II

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2008
I used this to frost a 3 layer red velvet cake. I ran out of frosting and had to make an extra 1/2 recipe. I didn't care for the end result. It was nice looking there was just something about the taste I didn't like. I can't put my finger on it. I thought it was a pretty standard recipe. I used premium ingredients, it just didn't taste right.

Garlic Prime Rib

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2008
Much, much more than 5 stars!!! It was so delicious and tender. I can't wait until next Christmas to make it again. I did have a little problem. I bought a 6 lb rib roast. I cooked it for 15 minutes at 450 and then I turned it down to 325. I can't remember exactly how long it took but I think it was at least 1 1/2 hours. My dinner ended up being about 2 hours late. It was done to perfection and everyone raved about how good it was so I won't complain too much about eating at 8 on Christmas nigt!

Cola Pot Roast II

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2008
This turned out about 1/2 a step from perfect. The gravy was excellent and so flavorful. My vegetables were tasty and perfectly cooked (I had carrots and red potatoes cut in half). The only problem was the meat was dry. Luckily the gravy was so good, it really didn't matter. I just hate to have such a nice roast turn out so dry!

Hot Cranberry Citrus Drink

This hot drink is great, especially if you are a big fan of cranberries like I am. (I always stock my freezer with bags of cranberries in the fall.) My family loves it and I like the fact that I can control how much sugar is used.

Famous Pork Chops

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2008
The breading was good. The good stops there. I followed the recipe and mine turned out soggy, tough, and almost flavorless. I used boneless chops. That could have been the problem. I don't know but because of the soggy result, I will not be making this again.

Slow Cooker Chicken Stroganoff

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2008
I followed the recipe, EXACTLY. I, too, was concerned about the lack of liquid in the chicken. It was not a problem at all. The end result was a little dry and my chicken was definately overcooked. Maybe I made my cubes too small? Overall it had a wonderful taste and this is something I will make again and again. I will adjust the cooking time next time.
