Best Spanish Rice

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2008
My husband and son really liked this. I thought it was so-so. Next time, I'll scale down the recipe, b/c 3 cups is a lot of rice. I also didn't use the right pot, b/c it burned the bottom of it. Yuck. That was my fault.

Oven Brown Rice

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2008
So, I've made this twice. The first time I made it exactly, EXCEPT I forgot to add the butter. My husband found it in the micro. We thought it was ok, but the season salt overpowered it. The second time, YUMMY. I made it like the recipe stated, but just put a few dashes of the season salt. Then I added about a half of cup of onions and some dashes of worcestershire sauce. Next time, I might add some mushrooms. I recomend covering the rice for 60 minutes, and then taking it off and baking until the liquid is absorbed. That's how I cooked it the first time, and it took about 75 minutes to cook. The second time, I didn't cover it and it took way WAY longer.

Baked Asian-Style Honey Chicken

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2008
This made a jucy chicken breast, which I never can make happen. Since using breast, I cooked for about a total of 35 minutes. I also doubled the sauce, and then added one more batch when I turned them over. I don't know, I think it lacks a flavor but I don't know what it'd be.

Chess Pie III

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2008
this pie is awesome, my dad loves pie, my husband hates pie, and custard. but they both went raving mad over this one. i did it with homemade crust. i had to cook it a little longer than the recipe said, and covered it with foil so the top didn't get too dark, but otherwise i followed the recipe. it was perfect. i don't even like chess pie, but i love this one. making it again today as a matter of fact.

Penne with Spicy Vodka Tomato Cream Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2008
OH. MY. GOODNESS!!!! I think this was the most yummiest thing I've ever made. I used diced tomatoes, the kind with added basil, garlic and onion. I also used half and half, but next time I'll use cream. I also used the hot italian sausage, and that made it very spicy. I'll use sweet next time. Also, I have to say that I kinda liked the sauce before I added the half and half. Will for sure be making this again!!

Kielbasa Stew

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2008
Smelled like my great-grandma's stuffed cabbages. I love that cabbage/kielbasa smell. I used tomato sauce, and added a can of white beans and one diced potato. Hubby asked that next time, I up the cabbage, more potato and lots of carrot. I will make this a lot.

Broiled Tilapia Parmesan

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2008
Don't send a mob after me, but I didn't care for this. I think my husband put to much parm in it, b/c it tasted salty. Hubby pulled off the topping half way of eating it. But my mom-in-law liked it.

Broccoli Chicken Casserole I

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2008
I made this tonight for the first time and my family loved it! I did get tips from the other reviews and made it my own special way. Sauteed mushrooms and onions, cooked broccoli, used 1/2 c. milk, whole bag of cheese, mixed the stuffing in with the chicken, cream soups, onions, mushrooms, broccoli, sprinkled top with italian bread crumbs. It was GREAT!! Will have again.

Sausage con Queso Dip

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2008
Let's just say this, I made Hamburger Helper for my husband (which is his all-time fav. thing to eat, gross out) and he ate a big bowl of this dip before he touched the H.H. THAT'S a good dip. I used salsa and it was so yummy!

Amber's Sesame Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2008
5 stars all the way!! I had to use Bisquick, b/c I discovered bugs in my flour (probably haven't used it in 5 months) and it turned out fine. I tripled the sauce, and next time will make more. Also, my husband and I decided to add carrots and snow-peas. He likes veggies, and even though it won't really be "sesame chicken" I think it will still be good. The sauce we all liked. I think this recipe will be made often.

Slow Cooker Beef Stroganoff I

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2008
This just didn't taste like the stroganoff I'm used too. My cream cheese didn't blend, and the taste was not tangy. I wish I'd have skipped the cheese and just put in sour cream. I ended up adding a splash of white vinegar for some added tang. We ate it, but I won't make again.

Sweet Corn Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 23, 2008
I didn't have enough sour cream, so I had to add more milk. This was good, but I can't wait to try it with all the sour cream, and I will add 1/2 cup sugar, and I'd like to try it with some cream corn. A nice recipe.

Crab Delights

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2008
YUMMY YUMMY!! I used shredded cheddar, b/c I didn't have the other, and it was WONDERFUL! The whole family loved them! I think it's a good idea to toast the muffins before you put the crab on. It makes it crunchier.

Ultimate Twice Baked Potatoes

I love eating these! I don't cook the bacon, but if I have the packaged "bacon bit" kind, I put those in. If I want to get fancy, I'll pipe the potato mixture back in with a piping tip. Makes it look fancy.

Cocktail Meatballs I

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2007
I'm just reviewing the sauce, b/c I used lil' smokies instead of making meatballs. I used an asian hot chili sauce (the kind with the rooster on the front) and it gave it a nice kick. My husband who usually doesn't like ketchup based sauces really gobbled them up! I can't wait to try the meatball recipe. Good sauce recipe!
