Beef Barley Vegetable Soup

This soup was a real hit with my family. I sent a batch home with my daughter when she went back to college and she and all three of her roommates loved it, too.

This was super easy & really good. I got requests for the recipe. I think next time I'll do without the beer. I like beer, just didn't care for it in this recipe.

I only cooked this for 8 hrs & it should have been cooked alot longer. The taste was okay, but it was easy & good for what it was.

Texas Slaw

This was really good, and different. I'm not a big cole slaw fan but this is not like cole slaw. My boyfriend wasn't as crazy about it though. I made barbecue beef to go with it and he was to busy eating that.

Reuben Hot Dish

I kept asking myself why I didn't just make a reuben sandwich. This was pretty messy & we ended up slopping it on rye bread and eating like a sandwich. Doubt I'll make this again.

This was really good! I used plum tomatoes & followed the recipe exactly. Serve warm so the cheese is melty & yummy.

Sauteed the mushrooms, peppers and celery (and I added onion to the sautee) before adding to the soup mixture. Easy recipe, a really tender and flavorful dish! Thanks!

I just made these and they are so delicious. I used a heaping cup of berries & they just squirted in my mouth. YUM!! I didn't give this 5 stars because I'm very discriminating when food is involved.

Banana Bread V

Reviewed: Jun. 7, 2004
I've been using the old-fashioned Betty Crocker recipe for yours. NEVER AGAIN! This is the best banana bread recipe I've ever come across! One thing: I poured batter into two small loaf pans in lieu of one big one - shortens cooking time so bread doesn't burn or dry out. Thanks for this wonderful recipe.

This is so easy! Make sure and keep mixing small amounts of butter into your cake mix until its all moistened (you'll definately use more than called for) - it should be crumbly, but not wet. This is so easy! Delicious w/ vanilla ice cream!

Picnic Fried Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2004
I'm no good at frying chicken, but this recipe was error-proof. I loved the way the chicken came out & its very very good served at room temperature - I think the previous reviewer was right, its something about the combo of frying in crisco and salting while the chicken's still warm. I also added paprika to the flour mixture - every respectable southerner should!

This dish was simple and very sophisticated. A great entertaining dish. Colorful, flavorful - everybody loves it! I don't use as much pesto as the recipe calls for, nor do I use the capers. I put the olives on the side for folks to use as a garnish. FABULOUS RECIPE - thanks for sharing!!
