About me:
Well, there's not really much to tell. I love going to social gatherings with family and friends. My first love is science! I earned my B.S. degree in Biology and I plan to have a career in reproductive medicine. My second love is baking and throwing together quick and easy desserts. I love social gatherings b/c then I have an excuse to bake until my heart's content! I like to bake for family and friends b/c it's just me and my husband at home and we rarely ever finish an entire confection between the two of us.

Scotch Eggs

Reviewed on Dec. 22, 2009 by Mallinda
We tried this Scotch Eggs recipe because it doesn't require frying. The eggs tasted great, but the cooking directions required some modifications. At 20 minutes the sausage wasn't yet cooked, so we turned the oven up to 375, but after another 10 minutes they still weren't browning. We sprayed some non-stick cooking spray on them, baked them a while longer, and when the sausage tested as done, we put them under the broiler for a short while to brown them. They're not something you'd make all the time, but they do have a fun presentation, and these are probably a bit healthier than the traditional recipe since they're not fried.

Swedish Nuts II

Reviewed on Dec. 17, 2009 by Mallinda
Wow, are these sweet! I made the recipe as written, but I think they need some cinnamon or other spice, and maybe also some cayenne to temper the sweetness. They're easy enough to make and bake up nicely, although a lot of my coating fell off the nuts as I stirred them.

Pecan Sandies

Reviewed on Dec. 10, 2009 by Mallinda
I substituted butter for the margarine. While the texture of these was light and crispy, I didn't care for the taste as you could taste the undertone of oil. Not what I want for a Christmas cookie!
