Sandy's Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 6, 2008
i have baked this cake twice in 2 weeks with rave reviews. I altered it slightly: 1) I used special dark cocoa 2) after baking it the first time and having the overflow problem like so many others, I spread it over 4 pan which made perfect layers and no mess 3) I used maybe half the amount of hot water 4)I added a "secret" ingredient to both the cake and frosting: a few dashes of cinnamon; it's not enough to register in the flavor, but adds a nice complexity and depth.

Sausage and Bow-tie Pasta Florentine

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2008
Fantastic! I made it for a pot luck and got great reviews! I will definitely make it again and will try it with chicken. I wish I would have added some Romano cheese on top. Thanks for a great recipe!

Absolutely Fabulous Greek/House Dressing

Reviewed: Aug. 31, 2008
Fabulous!! I will keep this on hand always. The second time I made it I used part red wine vinegar and part balsamic and it was very tasty!

Favorite Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Aug. 8, 2008
Cook the cookies for 10 minutes. Dip a fork in water then in white sugar to flatten slightly. This method works much better than flour on the fork. Sprinkle white sugar on top of the cookies as soon as they are taken out of the oven.

Easy Peach Crisp II

Reviewed: Aug. 3, 2008
The word "crisp" is very misleading. I was hoping the crust would have a crunch to it, instead it's a very chewy breading. The warm peaches are a delicious treat when paired with ice cream. But overall disapointing:(

Pork Roast with Sauerkraut and Kielbasa

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2008
AWESOME! The pork was VERY moist and everyone loved this at my work and also at my wife's work. The kielbasa was pink inside but well cooked. I added caraway seeds on top and a large potato cut in 1 in cubes with a little onion between the layers of sauerkraut. For prepping the pork, I generously spread extra virgin olive oil over the top and sides of the roast. I used more than two sprigs of thyme . . . I actually did a light dusting of thyme. A very tasty and easy meal to prepare. Thanks!

Ultimate Turtle Cheesecake

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2008
This was a hit! I changed it up a bit by not using the chocolate crust and I added walnuts and caramel along with the pecans and chocolate. Loved it!

Stuffed Strawberries

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2008
Yummy! Next time I'll try it with some 'nilla extract instead of orange liquer, and I'll add a touch more sugar to lessen the taste of the cream cheese. I'm thinking these might be good with a touch of kahlua added in in place of the orange liquer. I garnished with some chocolate icing made from the One Minute Chocolate Icing recipe found on this site.

Best Ever Cheese Bread

The name says it all! This is the BEST EVER. I also halved the mayo. Make a double batch because this will disappear before you know it.

Jamaica Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2008
Super easy and perfectly yummy. My changes were half brown sugar/half white, reduced oil to one cup, I used three bananas (just because :0), added 1 1/2 tsp of cinnamon, and I topped it with cocounut prior to baking. Tent the cake after 30-40 minutes to prevent it getting too dark. This was perfect! No frosting or powdered sugar needed!

Amazing Italian Lemon Butter Chicken

Reviewed: Jun. 13, 2008
I really had high hopes for this dish, but 3 stars is about the best I can do. The sauce was SO lemony, that's all I could taste, so I had to do a lot of tweaking to get it to a point I'd feel comfortable serving. I added some chicken broth, milk, a little flour, and about a teaspoon of sugar to the wine/lemon juice and butter mixture. I did like the combination of bacon, capers, artichokes and mushrooms over the chicken, and after all my adjustments to the sauce, my husband really liked it. Bottom line, it was entirely edible, but not something I'd make again. Thanks for submitting the recipe.
