Hot Cocoa Mix in a Jar

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2008
This is a great recipe, as well as great for gift-giving! I ended up giving out individual servings instead of doing it in a jar. Went to Michael's and got those cellophane candy bags, cut the tops off, filled each bag with a heaping 1/3 cup. Also added marshmellows and those white chocolate peppermint baking chips as they melt very quickly in hot liquid, while giving it a minty flavor. Tied the bag with a festive ribbon, and they make great single-serve holiday gifts for friends and coworkers. They just the entire contents in the cup. Very tasty recipe! Also, I for the non-dairy creamer, I used a flavored one like Caramel Vanilla, and for the chocolate drink mix I used Ghiradelli's Sweetened Cocoa instead as I feel it gives it more flavor than something like Quick drink mix. I also made chocolate covered spoons to mix into the cocoa (or even coffee).

Savory Grilled Potatoes

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2008
Absolutely the best potato recipe EVER! My boyfriend begs for these every time we grill! I usually have to double or even triple the recipe since we just gobble these up! I always add some extra garlic for the flavor. My boyfriend loves to sprinkle some sharp cheddar on the potatoes when they are done, too!

Spicy Grilled Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2008
Absolutely delicious and easy to make! This is our favorite chicken recipe! Instead of vegetable oil, I always use olive oil, I just this the flavor is better. And I never seem to have any limes on hand, so I just add some lime juice. So flavorful and juicy!

Chicken Tetrazzini IV

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2008
This recipe was went over well with my whole family. Even my pickiest eater cleaned her plate. Before making this i read many of the reviews so i made a few modifications. I doubled the amount of sauce and added about half a cup of an Italian cheese blend to it. I used fresh mushrooms which i sauteed with 2 cloves of minced garlic. And i used a 13 ounce box of spaghetti. I ended up with extra white sauce, which will be great for keeping re-heated leftovers from being to dry.

Bread Machine Bagels

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2008
These were AWESOME. I'm making more tonight. I followed someone's advice and only made six, but they turned out too big to just be one serving size- this time I will stick with 9. I did add two tablespoons of vital wheat gluten. I topped with kosher salt... Tonight I'm going to try some cinnamon crunch bagels. Other than the vital wheat gluten though, I didn't make any changes and they turned out beautifully. They looked and tasted professional!

Fluffy French Toast

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2008
This recipe is AWESOME. I ended up using wonder bread (only stuff left in the house)-- which normally disintegrates under french toast treatment. This recipe had the bread holding up strong and actually tasting really good. Can't wait to make it again, I think I'm going to try making enough that I can freeze it and have my husband reheat as he needs for breakfast.

Snow Peak Frosting

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2008
Good stuff- not too sticky sweet, but still kind of marshmallow-y. Use fresh egg whites (at room temperature). My mother attempted this frosting with egg whites from the box (like All Whites), and the silly things wouldn't turn into a meringue (even though the box claims it will work).

We LOVE this recipe. As is, no changes, nothing- it is just awesome. I have doubled it with success because biscuits seem to disappear in my house.

My Best Clam Chowder

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2008
This recipe was AWESOME. Great proportions. I did change it a little to suit my family's taste and to accommodate what I had in the house. I omitted the celery, and reduced the roux to 1/2 cup, instead of 3/4-- it made the soup a little thinner, BUT that is how we like it. I added about 1.5T of Old Bay Seasoning for a little spice... I also used "fancy whole clams" in the can, because that is all we had. Great recipe though- we loved it... Even my husband, who insists soup is not a full meal, ate only this with the Baking Powder Biscuits (also on this site).

This is a great, versatile recipe. I made it as a sheet cake, and as cupcakes (changing the baking times, of course). Very tasty and moist each time. Great with any frosting or just a dusting of powdered sugar!

Very tasty- I added a little bit of cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla. It puffed up nice and high around the edges and was like custard in the middle. We ate with jelly and some powdered sugar. I really liked that this recipe was for 2... Cute! I may try in a muffin tin next time to have small individual servings.

Creamy Chocolate Frosting

Reviewed: Aug. 27, 2008
What a lovely frosting... I used it to frost some cupcakes (Chocolate Oil Cake recipe)... the contrast of depth of chocolate was amazing. This frosting is beautifully buttery with a smooth chocolate flavor- like milk chocolate, where the cupcakes are more dark-- Easy to work with, though a bit soft- that was my fault because I couldn't find any more powdered sugar. Great recipe!

Soft Chocolate Cookies

WONDERFUL cookies. I had everything on hand, melted the butter completely because I didn't feel like getting my stand mixer out, but that was the only difference- okay that and the fact that I only made 18 cookies. I just dropped them onto a greased cookie sheet and baked for about 14 minutes in a 325 degree oven. Oh my goodness-- cakey, chocolatey, AMAZING.

This was a good and hearty meal. I didn't have sausage, so I used chicken breast and diced it up. Seasoned with a bit of Tony's Cajun spices, and it was great. My family was impressed.

This recipe is delicious. The market did not have lemonade concentrate, so I went with limeade concentrate instead. I also used Burgandy wine in those big jugs. Oh and I added a splash of Rose's Lime Juice, too.

One Bowl Brownies

Reviewed: Jul. 4, 2008
Maybe it is because I have gotten into the habit of using unsalted butter, but these brownies needed SALT. I added about 1t the second time around, along with 1t of baking powder. The first time I made them they were good, don't get me wrong, but they needed some salt.
