Man-Lovin' Potatoes

Reviewed: Mar. 23, 2009
We loved these! I didn't want to cook bacon so I just tossed some real bacon bits into the sauce. I also didn't add onions, because my boyfriend and I aren't fans. I didn't have any American cheese, but I had about half a bag of shredded Mexican cheese and half a bag of Colby Jack cheese. I was a little worried that I might be messing with the flavor, but it ended up being delicious! I also just baked the potatoes for a little over an hour since I already had a roast in the oven, instead of cooking them before adding them to the cheese sauce and then baking. them

Three-Cheese Potatoes

Reviewed: Mar. 23, 2009
My boyfriend loves grilled potatoes and he loved this recipe! I didn't add any onions, since both of us can't stand them, and I just tossed some real bacon bits on top instead of cooking up my own bacon. Plus we added some extra cheese, but we pretty much add extra cheese to everything! :)

Best Lemonade Ever

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2009
Sweet and not too tart! I was definitely not prepared to make this lemonade, since I had only half a lemon on hand! I just squeezed the heck out of that half lemon and made up for the rest with that fake lemon juice stuff. I don't think the flavor was effected much at all. Next time I will be much more prepared!

Microwave Popcorn

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2009
Probably the best non-movie theatre popcorn I have had. I did use the butter flavored popcorn oil that my dad uses for his popcorn popper instead of vegetable oil and I added butter flavored salt instead of regular salt. Absolutely delicious and the dogs loved it too! :)

Dijon-Dill Brussels Sprouts

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2009
I love brussel sprouts so this was a great new recipe, since plain old brussel sprouts in butter was getting boring. I only added a tiny squirt of mustard because I'm not a fan of dijon and it was still delicious!

Dad's Pan-Fried Green Beans

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2009
Family loved them! Instead of balsamic vinegar, I just used red wine vinegar, since balsamic wasn't on sale! And I didn't have any sesame oil, so I just used some extra virgin olive oil instead. They were very flavorful!

Buttery Cooked Carrots

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2009
Excellent! I haven't had cooked carrots in about 17-18 years after trying them at a friend's house when I was very young and HATING them. Since I've been trying to eat healthier, I thought I should give them another try and I really enjoyed them! I didn't get very many since I made them for my parents, boyfriend, and two very ravenous friends, but what I had was wonderful and, obviously, everyone else enjoyed them too!

Creamy Italian Dressing II

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2009
We thought it was very zesty and wonderful on baby spinach. I needed to make a dressing very quickly, since dinner was already sitting on the table, so we had to use the dressing immediately... It was better after it chilled overnight!

WOW!!!! I followed the amounts in the recipe, but used my bread maker for the dough-- I had to add some extra water, but I believe it is because we live in the desert and there is NO moisture in the air. I grilled, brushed with butter-- AMAZING. Great chewy texture, wonderfully tasty. I am so impressed.

Italian Spaghetti Sauce with Meatballs

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2009
I've always wanted to make spaghetti sauce and felt intimidated to do-so. But this was so, so easy and delicious! I followed everything to a "T". The only thing I did differently was to use Panko bread crumbs in the meatballs. I can't wait to eat the leftovers tomorrow.

Tiramisu II

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2009
This is truly a fantastic recipe! I've finally completed my search for the most decadent Tiramisu. I agree, at the very least, DOUBLING the espresso/liquor mixture. Using the Savoiardi ladyfingers(DO NOT SPLIT), I dipped them in the liquid 3/4 of the way(sugar side up)and immediately flipped them over and placed them sugar side down. That way the liquid soaks down into the last 1/4 of the finger and decreases the risk of over-soaking. These little buggers can get soggy quite quickly. For every layer I would assess the moisture content of the fingers and add, drop by drop, more espresso onto the portions that didn't soak up initially. There should only be a few spots here and there. You can always add more but you can't take it away. And who wants soggy Tiramisu? Bring the Marscapone to room temp before incorporating into the cooled egg mixture. There will be less of an opportunity for lumps. Also give the occasional stir to the egg mixture as it cools in the fridge. For the cream, I folded the two initial mixtures together into one homogeneous one. It then became the perfect balance of weight and creaminess. I agree with the other reviewers who stated that this dessert is best after a couple of days. I tasted it at intervals and it appears that time is definitely needed for the flavors to mingle and marry. To fully develop and bloom. This recipe is a keeper and will absolutely NOT disappoint!

Original Nestle® Toll House® Chocolate Chip Pan Cookie

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2009
Delicious! I did 3 different kinds of chips: semi-sweet chocolate, milk chocolate, and butterscotch. It adds a deliciously sweet taste to it. The center was VERY chewy, but that is how we like it. If you aren't a fan of the chewy, then you'll need to modify this somehow.
