Hamburger Steak with Onions and Gravy

Reviewed: Jul. 17, 2009
More like a 3 1/2 as written for me. If you just love the taste of meat (like my hubby) you will probably like this as is. It just had a very basic meat taste to me and I like my stuff with more flavor so the second time I made this I added to the patties: 1/4 onion minced, 1 or 2 tablespoons A1 bold and spicy sauce, maybe 1/3 packet mushroom and onion gravy packet and salt and pepper to taste. I always cook a little tiny bit before cooking them all to make sure seasonings are perfect. I doubled the gravy and added about another 1/3 package of the onion and mushroom gravy packet once my gravy had thickened up and before I put the patties back in. I also added a bit garlic powder to the gravy. 5 stars and even my husband said it was delicious. Served over Mashed Potatoes.

Extra Easy Hummus

Yummy - the kids and I really liked this. Usually I make with Tahini, but because I was out I tried this version. Added some lemon juice and extra garlic and reduced the cumin some.

Greek Burgers

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2009
Cut this recipe in half to serve my family and it went over pretty well. I only used a quarter of a bulb of fennel (my fennel must have been huge so go with your gut instincts on this). I sauteed the fennel and shallots in some olive oil and garlic and salt/pepper until they were nice and soft. I didn't want to bite into hard bits of fennel, plus cooking the fennel mellows out the flavor. I added greek seasoning (mccormick brand) instead of just the oregano - the greek seasoning had oregano in it. Ofcourse I seasoned with salt and pepper to my liking. I always cook a tiny bit before making my patties to taste the seasonings. I served in Pita Bread. For the Aioli mayo - I always add a bit of lemon juice and salt.

Cookies were soft but not as flavorful as I would have liked and were a little flat. Next time I'll add a little more spice to them. Good recipe.

Best Lemonade Ever

Reviewed: Jun. 24, 2009
Great Recipe. I like the idea of a simple syrup, and usually do it this way but in a pinch, like when my impatient kids want lemonade NOW I just mix it all up in a pitcher and skip the simple syrup step. FYI, In a major pinch I have used bottled lemon juice and it's definitely not as good, but it's worked (use slightly less than called for and adjust to your taste).

Loved it. Do not be put off by the mayo...it is actually very good. I added more curry (per our taste) and have made it both with crackers and with Italian-style breadcrumbs. Great either way.

Corned Beef and Cabbage II

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2009
I made this recipe in a crock pot combined with the "Corned Beef and Cabbage" how-to video from this site. (Which means that I added 1 bottle of red Irish beer instead of water and included the spice packet that came with the meat.) The spices were perfect. I have made this 2 times since St. Patrick's Day this year! :) Goes great with the "Amazingly Easy Irish Soda Bread" from this site. *Remember to cut the meat against the grain.*

Amazingly Easy Irish Soda Bread

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2009
This is fantastic. Beware: it does come out with a slightly dry and crumbly crust, but that is just to soak up the delicious corned beef & cabbage juice! It has a wonderful flavor that gets rave reviews every time I make it. The only thing that I disagree with is the "servings: 20" part. It is a dense loaf, but I'm not sure 20 servings is accurate. The pieces would be awfully small and that would not cut it for this yummy recipe!

Easy Spinach Souffle

Reviewed: May 18, 2009
I liked this a lot and so did my family. I didn't give it five stars since i made some adjustments to what we liked. First, I doubled the sauce and halved the spinach. Second, i threw it all in the blender and pureed it. Don't forget to season and season well!!

so so so good. Used to frost One Bowl Chocolate Cake III also on this site. I actually didn't have enough cocoa powder for what the recipe called for, but it still tasted superb - like a wendy's frosty!! yummy! I will make again with the full recommended cocoa powder amount, which I'm sure will taste just as good if not better!
