Fantastic Gorgonzola and White Wine Cheese Ball

Reviewed: Aug. 28, 2006
I added twice the amount of bleu cheese to the recipe and it turned out fantastic. The presentation is very pretty and looks like a lot of time went into it.

Sangria II

Reviewed: Aug. 28, 2006
I made the recipe adding a cup of orange juice. The flavor of the sangria was great, but I thought it had too much citrus fruit in it. Next time I think I may do half of the citrus fruit and add different fruit like mangos and melons instead.

This recipe was really good. I didn't do anything different and it turned out delicious. Especially the icing.

Italian Style Sausage

Reviewed: Aug. 28, 2006
I didn't change the recipe at all and it turned out great. It's a little on the mild side, but that's what I was looking for. Next time I'll probably double the spices for even better flavor.

Baked Cheese Olives

When I make these for parties, they are gone before you know it. I can never make enough. Even the people who swear they hate green olives, end up popping these like candy.

Pesto Torta (Layered Spread)

I made this for a dinner party and my friends were so impressed. It looks like it came from a gourmet food market and tastes even better than it looked. This was the first thing to go at the table.

Chilie Pork Tacos

Reviewed: Aug. 28, 2006
These were absolutely delicious. My friends were a little sketchy when I suggested pork tacos and even more wary when they saw how much vinegar went into the pan, but they couldn't stop eating the tacos when they were done.

Cowboy Mashed Potatoes

Reviewed: Jun. 28, 2006
Awesome. They look hard but it's really not and whatever work you put into it, is definately worth it. I added a little sour cream to mix just because I had it on hand. I'm sure it would have been really good without it too.

Dad's Down Home Cornbread and Jalapeno Meatloaf

Reviewed: Jun. 28, 2006
This turned out pretty good. I took the other reviewers' suggestions and used corn bread mix instead of actual cornbread. I think next time I will add a can of tomatoes just because. Besides, any excuse to use jalapenos is a good one. :)

Cucumber Sunomo

Reviewed: Jun. 28, 2006
This is excellent. It's very refreshing and addictive. The only thing differently I did was add two thinly sliced scallions and probably used a little more than half the amount of sugar. It came out great. I'll definately make it again and again.

Easy Beef Stroganoff

This recipe was pretty good. I did add 3 cloves of garlic minced, a teaspoon of thyme and about 1/3 cup of red wine. It gave the dish a deeper flavor. There were no leftovers!

Antipasto Pasta Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 7, 2006
Oh my goodness... this pasta salad is excellent. It's not one of those salads that is a lot of pasta and just a little bit of other stuff. This is chock full of everything... vegetables, meats, cheese and pasta in perfect balance. The dressing is excellent as is. Your salad will be coated but it won't be swimming in it at the bottom. The only thing I did was add a chopped red onion, a small jar of artichoke hearts and some chopped up pepperocinis. Excellent.

Tiramisu Layer Cake

Reviewed: May 5, 2006
This cake is better than 99.9% of cakes you buy. It is light and fluffy and looks like a piece of artwork when you're done with it. The cake isn't overly sweet like the ready made cakes are. I served this to my friends from Germany and they said it was the first time they'd had desert in the US that reminded them of home.

Pseudo Sourdough for the Bread Machine

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2006
This recipe is fantastic. I used all bread machine flour because I didn't have any barley flour either. I also used low fat sour cream. Honestly you couldn't tell the diffence. Also, after the first kneading and rise, I added one small onion chopped up to the bread machine and let it work into the loaf on it's own. It made the house smell wonderful and gave the bread an absolutely fabulous taste. I am so impressed with this recipe. You have to try it.

Raspberry Trifle

Reviewed: May 22, 2005
I really changed this recipe due to my dietary restrictions and what was at my local market at the time. I used the basic recipe, but used the following substitutions: Used fresh strawberries, splenda instead of sugar, Enttenmann's sugar free pound cake. I used sugar free strawberry jam and made sandwiches of the cake, then layered. I also sprinkled the cake layers with rum. Yum!

Banana Oatmeal Cookies II

Reviewed: May 18, 2005
This is a very yummy cookie! I have to say they are addictive and you will eat the whole batch in a day! I made some changes to suit my needs. I used 1/2 c. splenda and 1/2c. brown sugar, two medium bananas instead of the recommended amount.I also added 1/2c. raisins that had been softened in a little warm water so they wouldn't be hard little rocks.I had to flatten the cookies prior to baking with a glass, as they did not spread. I also omitted the walnuts, but I think they would have been nice and will add to the next batch which I will be making soon!

Tofu Parmigiana

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2004
I love this recipe! Modified that is. I followed the other suggestions and used flour and egg before I breaded the tofu. I cut out the soaking in cold water step. I can't believe that tofu can be so yummy! And if you think it's great the night you make it, then wait until you reheat and eat the next day. Better the second day!
