Smooth Sweet Tea

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2009
Made this for a luncheon and the first person to taste it asked if I made it. Everyone raved about it. Maybe it's the baking soda or just the right amount of tea, water and sugar. Either way, it's now the only tea I'll make. Thanks for the recipe!

Banana Muffins II

Very good muffins. I replaced half the butter with applesauce and added a little spice and nuts and they turned out grea. However, do not eat hot out of the oven. They taste much better after cooling!

Every year we pick a bunch of blackerberries off the bushes behind our yard and make cobbler. Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream while it's still warm and man oh man!

Quick and Easy Alfredo Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2009
Excellent & very easy sauce. I chose to use a double boiler instead of direct. I also added about a cup of shredded low fat mozzarella. I cooked whole wheat penne pasta & after draining, tossed that with 2 cups of diced leftover roasted chicken and 1 cup of leftover green peas. The alfredo sauce I poured over the pasta mixture in an oven proof casserole. Baked at 375 for about 20 minutes to just toast the top. My husband says this is an absolute favorite from now on.

Very good, but pumpkin pie is still better. As others have said, was done much sooner. I served it with some whipped cream and it was very good.

I made this for dessert and served it warm with half-and-half on top. It was delicious. My dad said the only thing he would change is make a bigger bowl next time.

Greek Lemon Chicken Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2009
Really enjoyed this soup! Even my kids, ages 10 and 12, liked it. I cut the recipe in half thinking 16 serving was going to be too much, but it just made 4 bowls of soup. Next time I won't half it. I scooped the rice in the soup bowls first and then added the soup. I also doubled the veggies and chicken and reduced the yolks to two (I halved the recipe). I also used only half of the amount of chicken soup base (bouillon). Make sure you use low sodium chicken broth. Yummy!

I added some flax seed and added in some yogurt and applesauce in place of the oil and used lemon zest because i had no lemon extract. These muffins were very good and moist. I made 18 and 8 people ate them all.

Mint Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2009
I was displeased with this recipe, I followed instructions to a T, and the mint icing had pieces of confectioner's sugar that were unwilling to blend, and it was hard to get the chocolate melted and on the cake quick enough... the taste was OK but I was very disappointed.

Very good. There wasn't a whole lot of topping compared to the peaches, which isn't necessarily a bad thin who doesn't love peaches but still might be better with a tad more. Still very good, i made another to stick in the freezer for later.

Excellent pumpkin pie, one of the best I've ever had. I added a touch of cloves and it was very good with the right amount of spice and flavor. Did bake it for more like 50-55 minutes but other than that, fantastic.

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Oct. 6, 2009
I followed a few of the other reviews and it turned out great. Instead of water I used chicken broth, and I put the dough in the slow cooker about an hour and a half prior to serving. I really think it helped the overall flavor and questioning of whether or not the dough is 'done' enough. Full points for quick prep time though, this can be prepared the night before and in the fridge! I cooked mine on low for about 8 1/2 hours then switched to high for another 3 hours before serving. Chicken was moist and incredibly tender. This is going into my rotations!
