We love these. I have cooked them two ways. The first time following the directions exactly. The second time I preheated my oven to 500 degrees and put a few at a time on cooling racks and put the whole thing on the top rack of my oven. It took about 3-4 minutes per batch to bake this way. You are looking for the bread to puff and then you know they are done. When they came out of the oven I brushed with them with butter. Both ways were fabulous. I will definitely be making these again soon!!

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2009
Yummy! My hubby said it was the best apple pie I have ever made. Loved the caramel-y sauce - it really made the pie. The only change in the recipe was that I used red delicious apples since it was all I had on hand. I used the 'Pie Crust IV' recipe for the crust also on this site. Thank you for such a great recipe.

Butter Cream Frosting I

Wonderful and easy. My family loved it on our Valentine's day cupcake. I added red food coloring to make them pink :) The taste wasn't too rich either. It was a soft, sweetness that brought out the flavor of my chocolate cupcakes.

We loved this! Anything with vinegar, garlic and chicken gets my attention because you know it is going to be fall-off-the-bone good.

Nice and Easy. Used light cream cheese and lowfat milk. Still came out creamy and delicious.

Creamy Banana Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2009
Very moist! I made mini muffins (minus the brownsugar and cinnamon mixture) and these were simply delicious. I used three medium sized bananas, used half brown sugar and half white sugar (because I like the "crust" you get from using brown sugar) instead of all white and cut that down to just two cups. Plenty sweet. A little trick for those of you with picky kids or veggie-hating hubbies (I have both!): I threw in a 1/2 cup of butternut squash puree to up the vitamins and such. You can't even taste or see the squash, but you get all the goodness of that veggie. Anyways, five stars!!

Creamy Rice Pudding

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2009
Excellent - creamy and delicious. Used a short grain rice (Arborrio, which is used for risotto and such) which makes all the difference. Do not use a long grain rice for this recipe because you want the texture to be creamy and a long grain rice will not give you this texture. I also used lowfat milk and the pudding was still uber creamy.

Balsamic Vinegar and Ginger Bok Choy

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2009
Pretty Good. I added salt and pepper because I season everything and I think it tasted better seasoned. Also, I cut back on the vinegar to a little more than half of what was called for. It was still plenty vinegary. All in all a very good recipe - loved the capers in there!

The first time I made this I followed the recipe to a "T" and it was excellent. The second time I added about 2 tablespoons of powdered sugar and, in my opinion, it was perfection.

Cake Balls

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2008
Oh Fantabulous!!!!Followed the advice of others and froze first before dipping in chocolate. I used WAY more than 3oz of chocolate for the coating. Also didn't use the chocolate bark stuff (didn't want a waxy aftertaste), so I used the bakers dipping chocolate. Super Easy and soooooo Good. My 5 and 3 year old have already told me they want cake balls in place of a regular cake for their upcoming birthdays. Two thumbs up!

Super easy and super good. I always sub whole wheat for white flour and add somewhere between 1/4 and 1/2 cup of peanut butter and a handful of mini m&ms. I would like to say I make these just for the kids, but my hubby and I gobble these up too!

Tzatziki Sauce I

Very Good. Gave it 4 stars because I added shredded cucumber (don't forget to put in a towel and squeeze out extra water). Without the cucumbers, it was missing something. Once I added the cucumbers, it was 5 stars. I also used Greek Yogurt.

Baked French Toast

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2008
We just love this recipe. I always modify according to another review I read when I first made this dish almost 2 years ago. 6 eggs, 1 cup cream, 1 1/4 cup milk. I make it just a bit healthier by adding ground flax seeds to the egg mixture for the kids. Once the caramel topping goes on, you can't even tell the flax is there. 10 stars!

French Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2008
Yummy. I added 1/2 tsp more of salt and used my kitchenaid to mix and knead. It was a cinch and came out perfect. I didn't have any eggs, so I didn't brush the top with egg white. Still came out crispy and crunchy on the outside and tender and chewy on the inside. I did throw in a handful of ice cubes while the bread was baking which may have helped crisp up the crust without the egg/water mixture. Thanks for sharing this awesome recipe!

Overnight Blueberry French Toast

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2008
I think I made this as written about a year ago and wasn't too impressed by the blobs of cream cheese throughout the dish. I came back to it today and tried again given some of the mods by other reviewers and was wowed by what the slight changes did to the recipe. I only used 8 eggs and whipped the cream cheese with some confectioners sugar for a while then spread on the bread cubes. I also used homemade bread from this site called "amish white bread." Fabulous!!!

Pretty good, but I wasn't blown away by it. Was missing something so I added some garlic salt. Didn't have much time today, but next time I'll try searing the meat first (rubbed with salt, pepper and garlic) before adding to the crockpot.

Fabulous! The only change is that I decrease the sugar to 1/2 cup. My husband, who rarely eats bread, loves this bread recipe. I make this atleast once a week. I bake both loaves and freeze one - It freezes very well. Since I found this recipe we don't buy bread at the grocery store anymore!
