This was really good. I made it as directed but increased the spices. It tasted even better the next day.

Good...I halfed the recipe and used one can of creamed corn, and one can of drained whole corn. I also used ritz crackers. Was a little watery, but tasted good.

This cake is so good. I changed the recipe a little and added a cup of chopped walnuts to it. Tastes so good when served warm with a little apple butter on it.

Delicious Pumpkin Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2008
Wow...this is great. I'm eating a piece warm from the oven now. I did the 1/2 oil, 1/2 applesauce. Used one 15oz can of libby's pumpkin pie filling (can never find pumpkin puree...what is that?), 1 heaping t of cinnamon, 1/4 t. pumpkin pie spice, no nutmeg, about 1/4 t. vanilla and about 1/2 c of raisons...din't measure them just dumped some out of the box. Filled just 2 loaf pans and took them out of the oven in about 55 minutes. The tops cracked a little, but the texture and taste are wonderful. I'm gong to freeze one loaf for Thanksgiving weekend. 1/1/09...made this again and didn't get the same results. The middle didn't cook. I guess I didn't check it before I pulled it out of the oven because it sure was gooey. Will have to watch that next time I make this.

Buttery Rolls

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2008
I made these twice now. Followed the recipe as written the first time, but when I took the dough out of the machine it was very sticky. The rolls didn't seem to raise very good, but boy were they GOOD. The next time I put in about 1/2 cup more flour and my dough was much easier to handle. They still didn't want to rise, but again....very light and so tasty. I'm going to make them for Thanksgiving so will make them one more time and try to increase the time to see if I can get them to rise better. My husband and I better hit the gym because having to taste test these can be very dangerous, but oh so fun.

Jay's Signature Pizza Crust

Reviewed: Sep. 1, 2008
Very good, but like other reviewers I also found it was very "sticky" and need ed to add more flour. I put in about a teaspoon of Italian seasoning just to add a little something more to the dough. I baked my pizza in a 13x9 pampered chef stone cookie sheet. It didn't seem to want to brown and it was pretty thick around the edges. Made a good deep dish pizza, but we like a little thinner crust. I will probably make it again. We all seemed to like it. Used the exquisite pizza sauce recipe found on this site and we had a very good dinner. It was a little work, but was fun to say I made the entire pizza by myself. Our 16 month old grand daughter loved it. We had to stop her from eating it.

Exquisite Pizza Sauce

Reviewed: Sep. 1, 2008
This was very good. I doubled the recipe and follwed it as written except I didn't add any cayenne pepper or anchovy paste. I made a pizza tonight for dinner and had my two grandbabies and didn't think I wanted it very hot. Our 16 month old grand daughter just loved the pizza. We had to stop her from eating it. Her 3 year old brother who is very picky...did what he always does and picked at it. I had a lot of sauce left over. The recipe said it served "4" and I made my pizza in a 13x9 cookie sheet so didn't think it would be enough. I was wrong. I'll freeze the leftover sauce for another time.

Flavor is great, but biscuits came out flat. It may have been the rainy weather, to give the recipe the benefit of the doubt. I'm definitely going to keep this recipe and try it again!

Baby Carrots with Dill Butter

Reviewed: Aug. 11, 2008
Excellent way to prepare carrots. Like others have said - watch the amount of lemon juice. Start off with much less - but it definitely plays an important role in the overall flavor. I used dried dill to taste. Very very yummy - and I usually avoid cooked carrots!

German Chocolate Cake III

Reviewed: Aug. 5, 2008
German chocolate cake is my hubby's favorite, so for his birthday last week, I thought I'd suprise him with. After having experimented with several different German chocolate cake recipes in the past few years, this one was my favorite in terms of taste. However, I ended up having to make the cake twice. I followed the recipe to a "T" the first time, but when it came time to remove the cakes from the pans, they were horribly stuck, despite my having greased and floured the pans well. I managed to salvage most of the cakes, but they were terribly crumbly. I figured I could hide the crumbled appearance with the frosting, but when I did, the whole thing literally fell into pieces. It was beyond hope trying to fix it, so I had to throw the whole thing away (after, of course, enjoying a few pieces of crumbled, but heavenly tasting cake). At this point, I felt bad for not having a birthday cake to present to my husband, so I decided to try it again. I repeated everything, but this time, omitted the water when I melted the chocolate (I was always taught never to add water to chocolate when melting). I also lined the bottom of the pans with parchment paper cut to size, and just greased the sides with Pam. Finally, I had inadvertently run out of sugar when I started on the frosting, so I substituted brown sugar. (I also doubled the amount of frosting.) The second version came out better than the first -- the cake was springier, and less crumbly, did not stick at all, and the

Special Deviled Eggs

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2008
Well, these eggs were not bad. But, they were not tasty like I had hoped. The horseradish was way too pronounced and I used half the amount the recipe called for. I like horseradish but do not think it pairs well with deviled eggs. I will stick with the traditional version - but I'm glad I tried something different.

Pizza On The Grill I

Reviewed: Jul. 17, 2008
Amazing! This pizza will make you want to never eat frozen or oven baked again! I made mine with 2 cups of flour and 1 1/2 cups of bread flour to make the dough a little more *sturdy* for some of the heavier toppings and it worked beautifully! We made individual pizzas for everyone, including my fav - red sauce, boiled chicken, garlic, feta & japaleno :) deeelish!

We really liked this. I did cut down on some of the fat by using turkey bacon, low fat mayonnaise and less chesse. I think the key to the great taste was the fresh basil. Great use for those home grown tomato's.

Very good. The potatoe mixture on the bottom was a lot better tasting then I thought it would be. Made as direced but didn't add the onion. Several in the family don't like them. An easy dish to prepare and pretty darn tasty to boot. A winner for me.
