Chocolate Layered Pie

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2009
Wow!!! Great recipe and really easy! It tastes like it's from a restaurant. I read other reviews, but made no big changes other than using two 4oz boxes of pudding instead of one 6oz box. Consequently, I changed the milk amount to 1 cup. I think the pudding is supposed to have a very thick consistency for flavor and to help the pie hold shape. I used a spatula and my fingers to spread the pudding layer. The best part by far was the crust! I didn't have pecans so I used mostly crushed walnuts with some macadamia nuts and pecans too. Fabulous and Easy!! I will use this crust for many other pies to come! My only complaint is that there was no estimate of time for browning the crust, so I had to check on it repeatedly. It ended up taking around 40 minutes to brown in the middle.

French Onion Soup III

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2009
Yummy! My husband said he'd never even had it before, and LOVED it! As good as, if not better than, a restaurant french onion soup. I don't feel it needs any changes, but I did add a few seasonings as suggested by other reviewers. I also used more broth and less water. I will definitely be making this one again and again!

I followed the recipe and they just didn't come out like I expected, they were dry. I'd personally rather have the peanut butter cup plain.

Brunch Strata

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2009
Super yummy! I made this for brunch at our MOPS group and saved the other pan for our family. Needless to say, EVERY bit was eaten by both parties!! Delicious! I followed some of the other commenters and assembled everything the night before and baked the next morning, and it turned out perfectly. I used bacon instead of ham, but want to try it with ham once and sausage the next. It would probably be good with all three! I will definitely be making this again and again.

Simple Beef Stroganoff

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2009
I've only recently started cooking around the house since my wife went back to school. This site has been my best friend with great recipes-- this one is no exception. I added the Hidden Valley Ranch Mix as suggested by one reviewer and also added an onion and a jar of mushrooms. I used milk in the Cream of Mushroom soup rather than water which gave the dish an overall creamier consistency. The only thing I will change the next time I fix it is that I will decrease the amount of garlic powder. It gave it a bit too much of a garlic taste for my liking. Otherwise, this is a great dish and I will definitely enjoy cooking it again!

Sausage Balls

Nothing but raves!!! I agree with other reviews that Jimmy Dean spicy sausage works best and isn't too spicy. Also, the tip to work the sausage and Bisquick together first and then the cheese was an excellent tip. Will be making these for many years to come!

It's one of those stupid simple things! Great for Weight Watchers if you just put the kernels in by themselves. 1/4 cup kernels makes about 4 cups & it is only 1 point.

I traded the fresh herbs for 1/8 cup dried except for the dill & I only used about 2 tbsp of that, since it is pretty strong. This stuff is awesome on triscuits!

Nikki's Steak Saltimbocca

I have been making my version of this for several years. I use swiss, fresh spinach and shaved VA ham from the deli. I roll them up, sprinkle with McCormick's grill seasoning & then freeze till almost frozen and then slice thinly & pan fry the pinwheels till they are done and serve on top of prepared angle hair pasta and my most favorite side of roasted green beans.

These brownies are the BEST! I make them my own by changing the recipe a little and I add 1/2 cup chopped baking chocolate or mini chocolate chips. My family loves them and I couldn't ask for anything more - thank you!

Chicken and Stuffing Casserole

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2008
I used the frozen chicken breast I keep in the freezer for other dishes. I thawed several out & boiled them with a little salt & pepper. Instead of the bread stuffing I used the chicken flavor stuffing. I was out of milk- of all kinds except for instant, so I used that(thanks to the kids). Easy dinner that used items from the pantry. Will be added to our rotation of meals! Thanks!

Pumpkin Bread IV

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2007
This was the best pumpkin bread I have ever made! I did the math to reduce the quanity to one loaf, which turned out perfect! The only change I made was to the spices. I used pumpkin pie spice and didn't measure it using the traditional method, I measured it using my nose. When I smelled the right amount of seasoning, I stopped adding it. I also made it in my breadmachine on the dough/cake cycle. I make it the night before and then we have it for breakfast.

Cabbage Roll Casserole

Reviewed: Sep. 1, 2007
Tried this yesterday and loved the meat ingredients and it came out pretty good except that the cabbage didn't cook thoroughly and it was tough....next time i would also use tomato juice besides the sauce so that the cabbage would cook better, even better, I would parboil the cabbage . liked the concept of a lasagna -like dish.
