Salisbury Steak

Simple, tasty, and kids liked it too. To add flavor, I added minced garlic and substitued mushroom/onion soup mix (w/1/2 cup of water) for the condensed soup. Turned out great!

Charley's Slow Cooker Mexican Style Meat

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2009
This was really good! I was a little nervous that it would be too hot, but it wasn't bad at all! I used all 5 ounces of the mexican hot sauce and real garlic. I also didn't bother browning the roast. Just threw it on low overnight in the crockpot and shredded it when I woke up. Then I turned off the crock pot and returned the shredded beef into the juices for a few hours. Everyone loved it! Thanks!

Chocolate and Fruit Trifle

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2009
This is easy and delicious. I have made it a few times now for guests and potlucks, and in both situations, I have gotten rave reviews! It is very versatile...as others have mentioned, you can change the cake flavor or even go with brownies. The fruit can be changed up, too, to suit your tastes. You really can't mess this up and there are so many possiblities! But as for the actual recipe itself, I think it is really good just as it is written!

Balsamic Glazed Salmon

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2009
Well, I don't see what is so great about this. It made WAY too much and barely had any flavor. I'm thinking the 1 3/4 cups broth needed to be maybe 3/4 cup. It didn't ruin the fish but what was the point in such a mild flavor? Won't bother with again. Waste of $10 worth of salmon that could have been better.

Chocolate Cavity Maker Cake

So rich and gooey...YUM! I've made this numerous ways and eveytime is a winner. I've used Godiva liquer, kahlua, Bailey's. My favorite combo is with strong coffee instead of the liquer and peanut butter chips. try this, you won't be disappointed!

Awesome and Easy Creamy Corn Casserole

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2009
WOW!! This recipe amazed me! Economical, quick, and yummy! Followed the recipe except for a handful of sharp cheddar I threw in with the batter. For the record, I was really disappointed with the dish when I first tasted it. It had just come out of the oven and was still pretty soupy. After it got to room temp it had set much better. From now on, I will make this early in the day so it will be ready for dinner. Room temp was the ticket for me!

Refried Beans Without the Refry

Awesome!!!!! I used chicken broth in place of the water and omitted the salt entirely. I also sauteed the onion and garlic (5 cloves) in olive oil. Added it all to the crock pot and threw in 5 slices of partially cooked bacon. YUMMY!

Best Spanish Rice

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2009
This is an great recipe! Instead of olive oil, I like to use a little bacon grease to sautee the onion, rice, and fresh garlic (three cloves; I really think the garlic adds tons of flavor.) Also, I make my own salsa with fresh ingredients. At the end I sprinkle some fresh chopped cilantro on top. Definitely a great, versatile recipe!

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 7, 2009
Probably my favortie soup recipe ever! I only gave it four stars because I liked it much less with ham. After we made it with ham we decided to use sausage instead. I think the fat content from the sausage gave it a MUCH better flavor! I sautee 3 cloves of garlic and shallots in some butter while I brown the sausage in an pan. Add that to the stock. I use heavy cream and that does a good job of thickening the soup. I also add about 1.5 cups of shredded cheddar. On the top of each bowl I sprinkle a bit more cheese, green onion, and a tad of bacon. Not exactly healthy, but freaking awesome!!

Slow Cooker BBQ Pork Chops

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2009
I use a variation on this recipe all the time, and I have a few tips. I would never bother to use my crock pot if I'm going to use it on high, I like to throw things in it for 8-10 hours and you never, ever get a dry result. I also wait until the last couple of hours to add a sauce, as the flavor is diluted by the cooking process. Any kind of sauce will work with this, including a cream of mushroom soup gravy. Experiment and you'll find a variation that you love. Make sure not to add too much water, or you end up with mush as well.

This was really tastey! I did sautee fresh mushrooms ,minced garlic, and onion in a pan before adding to the crockpot. I doubled the soups and liquids because we love gravy. I used frozen chicken tenderloins and it was great. Served it over bow tie pasta along with crusty bread!
