Crispy Baked Chicken

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2007
This was okay... good flavor, although I did add a bit to it. More pepper, some garlic salt and some red pepper flakes. And i STILL thought it was a bit bland...I will continue tweaking it, but it was pretty good! My hubby liked it. I also added cornflake crumbs for added cruch like others suggested.

Four Cheese Macaroni and Cheese

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2007
I liked the option of switching out cheeses, easy to make. It is much better to serve the day-of: we tried to make it ahead of time and it really loses it's flavor.

Golden Sweet Cornbread

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2007
This was really good, but it did not hold together at all. Whcih surprised me, considering I added cheese to it which should bind it even more. However, the flavor was GREAT. I added cheddar cheese and green chilies to it to make mexican corn bread. I cut the baking powder like everyone suggested also. I will try it again, only this time I will maybe use another egg. Good recipe.

Ten Minute Enchilada Sauce

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2007
After making enchiladas and realizing I did not have the can of sauce in the cupboard I thought I had... I went searching for a quick and easy enchilada sauce. I found this one and went with it. I will say, I am SO glad I didn't have my canned Enchilada sauce on hand, and I will never buy it again. This was SO good! I used Chicken Stock instead of water and only used a little over one cup of it. It made a nice, thick, hearty sauce. I also turned the Chili Powder down to two heaping Tablespoons and it was more than enough for our taste. I also used regular flour, came out perfect. The best enchiladas I have ever made...and I even got to boast that the enchilada sauce was "made from scratch", which always feels good:-) Excellent recipe!

Grandma Ruth's Stuffing

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2007
Super easy and SO good! I made this for Thanksgiving, and it was so easy I couldnt believe it would taste this good! I cut the recipe in half because there were only 3 of us at dinner. But it really surprised me! I have an herb garden and used fresh thyme and fresh rosemary instead of dried, and used rubbed sage. I added a bit more sage like others suggested, and I am glad I did because it needed it. However, I couldnt believe how good this was. It makes a full 9x13 pan in a half recipe!! My favorite stuffing, I will make this every year.

Smushed Apples and Sweet Potatoes

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2007
These were unreal! And so easy! I microwaved the sweet potatoes because the oven was being occupied by the turkey. The apples needed to simmer for a bit longer than this recipe says to get soft. I used Braeburn apples, they cooked up perfectly. I used a more cinnamon and nutmeg instead of allspice because I didn't have any. Once they were done I just threw it all together and used my handheld mixer to combine everything. There were perfectly sized chunks of apples, and they REALLY complimented the potatoes! I was pleasantly surprised! I will make this again every year. My husband who doesn't like sweet potatoes ate two helpings! Great EASY recipe! Thanks! My new Thanksgiving staple...

Pumpkin Cake II

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2007
Tasted REALLY good, the texture was odd however. I expected it to rise up more and be more cake-like. It was so moist and so dense it almost was like pumpkin PIE cake. But it tasted soooo good. I used more cinnamon and less sugar as other suggested. I also used a store bought Buttercreamm Icing as if it wasn't rich enough. yummy:-)

Best Brownies

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2007
These brownies are SO good! I wanted a sweet chewy brownie but didn't want all the fat, so I used only 3 Tablespoons of Butter and 1\3 cup of chunky applesauce instead of the 1\2 cup butter. That's just too much butter for me! They are supermoist and taste amazing! This will be my brownie recipe from now on!!

Buffalo Chicken Wings III

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2007
These were really good! I omitted the Tomato Sauce because I didn't have any, and used Texas Pete instead of Franks Red Hot because my husband prefers the taste of Texas Pete. These are such a great alternative to the greasy fried wings, are heck of alot less mess and the texture is very close to fried! I will be making these for superbowl! Thanks!

Butter Flaky Pie Crust

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2007
This crust tasted really good, but it was a bit tough. That may be totally my fault though. Also, next time I will roll out the dough BEFORE putting it in the fridge because this chilled dough is harder to work with than dough made with shortening BY FAR. I paired this crust with the Grandma Ople's Apple Pie form this site that has over 1500 reviews and it was DELICIOUS. I will not used trasfat-laden shortening ever again.

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2007
This pie is really good! I used an All Butter crust from this website for the crusts. It is a bit harder to work with, but the taste is WELL worth it. I added some things to the pie though. I added innamon and nutmeg to the apples before putting them in the pie. Then I added some vanilla to the boiling sugar liquid. All in all, this pie was awesome! Would be GREAT for Thanksgiving especially!!

Colleen's Slow Cooker Jambalaya

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2007
My picky 6-yr-old took one look and said, "I'm not eating that!" But after one taste he was begging for more! My whole family enjoyed this recipe. The only thing I will change next time is I will add the diced chicken about half an hour before serving and the shrimp about 10 minutes before serving so they don't overcook and get tough. This recipe is a keeper!! Thanks!

Apple Crisp II

Reviewed: Oct. 10, 2007
This recipe is outstanding... I really loved it! I used Braeburn apples, they are my favorite to bake with because they stay somewhat firm when cooked and give more of a bite instead of a squish that you get with some other apples. THe crumb topping was REALLY, REALLY good, however I agree with some other people who reviewed this recipe. It could use more of it. I think next time I will double the crumb recipe and use some on the bottom and on the top. But, GREAT recipe, and SO easy!!! This will be my top dessert for when I have company!

Slow Cooker Barbeque

Reviewed: Oct. 6, 2007
Okay, This is awesome. I couldn't believe how simple, quick and easy this was!It tastes better than any of the packaged stuff in the grocery stores, for sure. I did tweak it just a bit, I added Chili powder to the seasoning before cooking to give it a little kick. I also used a Sweet Southern BBQ sauce and it was incredible. I will make this over and over again, especially if I have company coming. It's such a time saver, and SO good. I have a two month old daughter, and this allowed me to have some time to myself in the evening instead of cooking! You've gotta try this one!

Banana Sour Cream Bread

Reviewed: May 29, 2007
This was absolutely delicious. I'm diabetic, so I replaced Splenda for the sugar measure-for-measure. (I used a scaled-down recipe and made one loaf instead of 4.) To make it lower-glycemic, I replaced 1/2 the flour with whole wheat flour, and 1/4 of the flour with vanilla whey protein powder. The other 1/4 I used white flour. (If you're used to substituting some flour in your breads with vanilla pudding, this has the same effect.) I've missed banana bread, and now I can have it again! I'm keeping this recipe for sure.

Best Lemonade Ever

Reviewed: May 17, 2007
This recipe is PERFECT. It truly is the best lemonade I've ever had. It really wasn't very much work, i used 6 juicy lemons which gave me the perfect 1 and a half cups lemon juice. I didn't let the syrup get to room temperature and then chill till it was cold, it was still warm, but didnt matter at all. When I put the finished product in the fridge to chill it did the job! Great recipe, a new staple in my house.

Elaine's Sweet and Tangy Loose Beef BBQ

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2007
I am a BBQ fanatic but recently was diagnosed with diabetes and had to give up all my molasses and brown-sugar-based BBQ sauces. While all the ketchup in this recipe keeps it from qualifying as "low carb," it is great it you're restricting your high-GI sugars. This is by far and away the best BBQ recipe I've tried that is low sugar. Scaled to 4 servings, it only calls for 1 T of brown sugar. I tried it on sliced beef brisket last time. Tonight I'm trying it on babyback ribs. Mmm good!
