The guys gave this 4 stars. I cooked it in the slow cooker and I think it wold have been better in the oven. I followed the recipe exaclty and they are still eating the left overs so they must have liked it.

Used this on baked chicken. It's very traditional and inoffensive, but it feels like it needs something more. 4.5 out of 5.

I was worried this would be too spicy, but I used this on a roast and it was awesome. My guests all went back for seconds. Thanks!

Shoofly Pie IV

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2009
Sorry to have to give this such a low rating...It is a GREAT pie but without MOLASSES, it is NOT a SHOO FLY PIE, and I have eaten many versions...I made this recipe and enjoyed it, but then changed the white sugar to Black Strap Molasses and it was fantastic...The cornmeal helps to firm the pie a bit...

Very fluffy and very sweet. I used half-and-half instead of milk for extra richness. We love it!

Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies I

These are the most amazing cookies I've ever made. I did, however, take out the walnuts and make it half semi-sweet chips and half white-chocolate chips, to mimick Otis Spunkmeyer's cookies of this similar flavor. Everyone I make them for goes NUTS and becomes addicted!!!!

Snickerdoodles II

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2009
Used butter flavored Crisco, which I think lent a weird sour/chemically aftertaste. Never used it before & wanted to try it before holiday baking ensues. The texture was great, though they didn't spread very much. Probably will try another recipe next time.

This is a good standard meringue. You can add 1/4 teaspoon of cream of tartar to help stabilize the meringue if you like.

good recipe, i didn't have enough cream cheese to double as others recommended, they're fine as is. i added 2 Tbsps sour cream to my mix & used chopped almonds instead of walnuts. i really like this isn't the typical graham crust base. YUMMY!!

Baked Garlic Parmesan Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2009
I let the garlic and oil sit for about half an hour, allowing the oil to be infused with flavor. Used Italian seasoned bread crumbs.`I had 4 large breasts and thought the amount of crumbs was just about right, with a little extra to sprinkle over top. I found this recipe very flavorful.

Grandma Ople's Apple Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2009
Thank you Grandma Ople! Her tradition carries on through each and every holiday. We love this recipe, I do add 1 teaspoon of cinnamon - I mix it into the apples rather than the sauce. I combine the apples with 1/2 the sauce then put it in the shell. I top with lattice and pour and brush the remainder on. I use the premade rolled out crusts when I'm pressed for time and I can't tell the difference between those and homemade - not like the frozen crusts that come in the pan. Thank you for a new tradition!

Black Lung Braised Brisket

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2009
I have always thought that if you are going to use marinade for sauce you should make extra and set it aside. I made the marinade and it is really good but I made extra and discarded the meat soaked marinade in the bag. Very tender...and the name doesn't fit.

Grandma's Polish Perogies

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2009
These were pretty easy to make and tasted good too. I added both sauted onions and onion powder. I also threw in some chili powder too, which I think was a good thing. I didn't have enough sour cream so I threw in some cream cheese and a little milk and I don't think it hurt it any. We will probably never buy another box of perogies. My husband is already to make them with cabbage now.

Easy Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2009
These were great. I cut the recipe in half, make larger cookies and had to cook them for a bit longer. The only changes to the recipe that I made were that I put in twice the amount of vanilla extract and I added some almond extract. I also iced them and dumped a bunch of sprinkles and decorations on them. I used the Sugar Cookie Frosting recipe on this site by Kathy Brandt.
