Spinach Lentil Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 24, 2008
Very good! Hearty! I added some cumin, celery, and more broth to water as some other reviewers suggested. My wife is a vegetarian, so I used "better than chicken" brand broth, and didn't cook the kielbasa in the stew, but added it to mine after. Really tasty!

Day Before Mashed Potatoes

These were great! I omitted the onion powder, and they were still perfect for our Thanksgiving dinner.

Fresh Tasting Black Beans With Rice

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2008
As is, I didn't care for it... very bland and unappealing. I made it again, but this time omitted the lemon juice, cilantra, and garlic-- instead I added 2 packets of Goya Sazon and some black bean salsa, which improved it somewhat.

Easy Mushroom Rice

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2008
So comforting-- reminds me of my grandma's oven baked rice! I used cream of mushroom and fresh mushrooms sauteed w/ garlic. I also used FF, low sodium chicken broth. So easy!

Glo's Sausage Fried Rice

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2008
I made this WITHOUT the sausage because we were using it as a side dish for pork-chops. It was delicious, just the flavor I wanted. It really does make a LOT, but I went ahead with the full recipe because I knew it'd be a good left-over for packing in lunches. I actually had to make it in two batches because we didn't have a wok or a skillet big enough for the whole mess! Great fried rice! Reminds me of the Japanese steak house!

Carrot Thyme Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2008
Bread came out really dense - don't know what happened. The taste was pretty savory, but I didn't care for this flavor all that much.

Calamari in a Creamy White Wine Sauce

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2008
Yummy. I'm always looking for new ways to serve seafood as my husband is a pescatarian (no meat, only seafood). I thought calamari would be a real challenge, and I expected to have to make an alternative meat dish for myself and my 12-year-old son. WRONG! We all loved the dish. I didn't have cherry peppers so I just left them out since previous reviewers thought it too hot anyway...I used a little extra red pepper flakes and a little extra garlic and went liberal with the parmesan when serving. Delicious! We all really loved it. I also used gemelli instead of fettucine and it worked well. I will use it again and I will get the cherry peppers because I think it will only make it better. Thanks!

My family loved this. Used carrots instead of celery. Wonderful flavor. Nice and hearty too for being low fat.

Buttermilk Cinnamon Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2007
I made half a recipe at first. When I got to the grocer, the cupboards were bare..I had no choice but to implement with low fat buttermilk. (It was less expensive to buy the pint) I added a little cinnamon to the batter as well as crushed walnuts. I love this recipe!! Thanks! :) I also lightly greased, and floured the loaf pan so that the bread would come out easily.

Venison Bacon Burgers

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2007
Delicious! The best deer-burgers my husband and I have ever had. The burgers took awhile to make, but the bacon, bacon grease, and olive oil were such great alternatives to the fat we usually put in our venison burgers. MMMMM.

Chewy Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2007
Delicious... I made them just as the recipe said. I'm still a beginner so I didn't change anything. They were still chewy even a few days later. I baked them for my 2nd grade class and they LOVED them. Kid and husband pleasers :)

Cinnamon Rolls

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2007
Is NOT an easy to use dough, as claimed. Wound up adding over an extra cup of flour to keep it from sticking to everything and buns tasted like flour. I will not be using this recipe again.

Best Tuna Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2007
I had no egg noodles so I made it with shells and left out mushrooms (for my daughter). Topped with white chedder Cheez-Its. Used 1/2 the amount of cheese and it was low fat Cabot white cheddar and a little fresh grated parm. We all loved it. If it weren't for watching my calories I'd have eaten 3 times what I did!!
