Spicy and Cheesy Egg and Tomato Frittata

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2009
Simple but tasty! I have a load of egg whites left over from making eggnog. What to do...what to do. This was an excellent way to make use of them! My only change was to use salsa instead of the can of tomatoes. Thanks!

Caramel Cake I

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2009
This is a great recipie, however it is not for the novice baker. I wish inexperienced cooks would not lower recipe ratings because of their ineptitude. If you the majority of the ratings are positive, isn't that a pretty good indication that perhaps you did something wrong?

Slow Cooker Cranberry Pork

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2009
My family has been making this for many years; it is my daughter's favorite dinner. We usually serve it with mashed potatoes and fresh green beans. I have tried other cranberry and pork recipes and been disappointed - this is the best!

Slow Cooker Cranberry Roast

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2009
I made this with a pork loin because I didn't have all the ingredients to make the Taste of Home "Slow Cooker Cranberry Pork" recipe which can be found on this site. I was disappointed and will not make again.

Bean Soup With Kale

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2009
Rave reviews all around! So tasty and nourishing! I made this soup twice - once with 2 cans of canellli beans, and once with 1 can chick peas + 1 can kidney beans. Both are delicious. Instead of plum tomatoes, I used a can of diced tomatoes with oregano and basil - gave the broth some extra savoriness. I'm about to forward this recipe to my mother and my best friend!

This was good but not spectacular. I expected a lot more flavor in the meat, and it just wasn't there.

These were excellent. I made these last year for Christmas and I am making them again this year. I used the Sour Cream icing and they were great.

Used this on baked chicken. It's very traditional and inoffensive, but it feels like it needs something more. 4.5 out of 5.

Shoofly Pie IV

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2009
Sorry to have to give this such a low rating...It is a GREAT pie but without MOLASSES, it is NOT a SHOO FLY PIE, and I have eaten many versions...I made this recipe and enjoyed it, but then changed the white sugar to Black Strap Molasses and it was fantastic...The cornmeal helps to firm the pie a bit...

Baked Garlic Parmesan Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2009
I let the garlic and oil sit for about half an hour, allowing the oil to be infused with flavor. Used Italian seasoned bread crumbs.`I had 4 large breasts and thought the amount of crumbs was just about right, with a little extra to sprinkle over top. I found this recipe very flavorful.

Black Lung Braised Brisket

I have always thought that if you are going to use marinade for sauce you should make extra and set it aside. I made the marinade and it is really good but I made extra and discarded the meat soaked marinade in the bag. Very tender...and the name doesn't fit.

English Muffins

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2009
These are amazing! I wasn't sure they were going to come out correctly at first, but once I got them cut out and they went through the second rise, they looked great! I baked them in a size 10 black iron frying pan and they look as good as Thomas's. I scaled the recipe down to 6 servings and for about 40 cent we have 6 gorgeous muffins for the morning which beats paying 3 dollars for a package. I will be making these again! :)

Pumpkin Spice Cookie

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2009
These were so easy and great! I added 1/2 teaspoon of pumpkin pie spice to add some extra fall flavor, and included chocolate chips. I was amazed at how well these turned out with such few ingredients. Mine were not gooey in the center at all. Much like baking a cake, you need to make sure they are cooked all the way through.

Black Bean, Sausage, and Sweet Potato Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2009
This had a good flavor. No rush, but I wouldn't mind making it again. Changes are as follows: 1) Used 2 cans of black beans, rinsed. 2) Used 8 cups chicken broth. 3) Used 1 lb sausage. 4) Caraway instead of allspice. 5) Cut potatoes up into small pieces and cooked with everything else. 6) Did not use tomato paste because I didn't have it...didn't miss it.
