Baked Asparagus with Balsamic Butter Sauce

Delicious! I too swapped the amounts for the soy sauce & vinegar, and even sprinkled just a bit more vinegar on after tasting. Very easy and tasty. Thanks for sharing!

Famous Butter Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2006
Very easy and very tasty. I used a full teaspoon of garlic salt but not the whole 1/2 cup of butter and also cut my chicken into strips and baked for 30 minutes. Very tender and juicy...and I think it would be easy to add many different seasonings to suit your tastes. Thanks for sharing!

This was delicious! I made it for a snack after a tennis match and it got all eaten up (even though it rained, and the match was cancelled...I REALLY enjoyed it!!) ;-) Thanks for sharing!

English Muffin Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2006
I carefully warmed the milk in the microwave to the right temp...not as much chance of me scorching the milk that way! Good flavor, although my dough didn't spread easily or rise particularly well. Excellent toast! Flavor of an English muffin without the nooks and crannies. Thanks for sharing.

I had high hopes for this soup based on all the good reviews...but it was just average. It was much thicker than I wanted...more like a stew. Thanks for sharing.

Luscious Buttercream Frosting

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2006
Very good taste, nice texture. Use clear vanilla if you prefer white icing, otherwise it will be slightly off-color...not too much of a problem if you are tinting it to decorate. It seemed a bit stiff to me but I probably could have added a bit more milk to make it flow better for decorating...it picked up a lot of "crumb" from the cake. Got lots of compliments on my Steelers Super Bowl cake! Thanks!

Roasted Chickpeas

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2006
This was really different and good! I used olive oil, and Cavendars Greek Seasoning, along with just a bit of cayenne pepper to give it a bite. I did stir the peas on the cookie sheet every so often to help them brown more evenly. Unique and delicious! Thanks for sharing!

Southern Living Magazine's Chicken-Fried Steak

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2006
Absolutely wonderful! I used chicken breasts (flattened into cutlets) instead of cube steaks...and didn't make the gravy since I am the only one who eats gravy. The breading adhered nicely the the chicken. My daughter gave this 50 stars, and my husband said that it's a keeper! Best chicken fried chicken since I left Texas...and I made it myself!!! Thanks!

Never Fail Biscuits

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2006
Came together nicely with ingredients that I always have on hand. Good flavor, but mine raised very nicely then seemed to fall a bit the longer they baked. Next time I will try brushing some melted butter on top for more even browning...and I'll cut them to get 9 instead of 12 so they will be a bit bigger. Thanks so much for sharing@

Cooking Light magazine's Cherry Cheesecake

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2006
Delicious flavor with a lighter texture than the usual heavy, dense cheesecake. Everyone enjoyed this. I think I beat my egg whites a little too stiff, however, because it was difficult to fold them into the cheese mixture and not have it "lump" up. My cheesecake cracked quite a bit on top, so if appearance is important, you might definitely plan on using the cherry (or your favorite) topping.

Linda's Lasagna

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2006
Just the lasagna I was looking for! This was perfect in taste and consistancy. I too used the Barilla no-cook noodles, and adjusted the baking time & temp to match the instructions on the Barilla box (50-60 minutes, covered at 375, then uncovered for about 10 minutes) The lasagna "rested" out of the oven for about 15 minutes while I baked some quick breadsticks, and it set very nicely: firm layers...not slip-slidn' away as usual! I subbed 1/2 pork for 1/2 of the ground beef because that was what I had leftover from another recipe, used fresh garlic (2 cloves)instead of garlic powder, and added a tablespoon or so of basil to both the sauce and the cottage cheese mixture. The sauce was a little sweet, but just the way I like it! Next time I'll use 1/2 beef, 1/2 Italian sausage. We ate 1/3 of the pan tonight, we'll eat another 1/3 as leftovers in a day or so, and I'll freeze the rest for an easy meal another time. Thank you Linda so much for sharing!!!

Creamy Chicken Lasagna

My family did not care for this. The chicken mixture was bland, despite the fact that I followed several suggestions from the reviews to add seasonings, etc. I've been instructed to stick with "real" lasagna from now on...Thanks for sharing.

Turkey Pot Pie III

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2005
This is my standard pot pie recipe for chicken or turkey...the only difference is that I use a can of cream of potato soup instead of mushroom or cream of chicken. Also, make sure you use a can vegetable mix that includes potatoes. Use more or less milk to make a nice creamy mixture. My family requests this often, and with refrigerator pie crusts this is a real time saving version of the traditional comfort food.

Butternut Squash Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2005
Sorry, but I just didn't think this soup was very flavorful. Maybe my squash was not up to par...I measured everything carefully and didn't stray from the recipe (except to only use 1 block of cream cheese instead of 2, and to use chicken broth instead of water & bouillon). I sprinkled a little cinnamon sugar on top of my bowl and that was a big improvement. But, it was very easy to make, and maybe I'll try making it again with a better squash! Thanks Mary for sharing.

Grandma Johnson's Scones

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2005
Wonderful recipe! I got many compliments on the scones when I took them to a recent open house. I followed some of the many good suggestions by other reviewers: added 1 tsp vanilla to the dough, divided the dough into thirds...then made one batch with mini chocolate chips, one with dried cranberries and orange zest (I also made a orange glaze for these), and one batch I just added cinnamon and dusted the tops with cinnamon sugar. I used my food processor to mix the ingredients and cut in the butter and it couldn't have been easier. Even though I divided the dough so that I got 24 instead of 12, they were still good sized...and if I make them for an open house/brunch buffet again, I will cut them a little smaller yet so that they would be more "bite sized". Thanks for sharing (PS...I wish that MY Grandma Johnson had made these for me!)

Lemon Ice I

Reviewed: Jun. 27, 2005
Very tasty! I halved the recipe and poured it into ice pop molds. The pops turned out to be a little soft...but still very delicious. Here's a few tricks I used to make this recipe really easy. First, cut your lemons in half and juice them...THEN you can zest them very easily by tucking your fingers inside the lemon for protection. Second, put your sugar and lemon zest in the food processor and process until fine. Third...go ahead and add the milk and process until well blended. I didn't cut back the sugar, but I did add extra lemon and lemon zest to taste. Can't wait to try it again by freezing in a pan. Very yummy! Thanks for sharing!
