Apple Bavarian Torte

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2009
I made this for Thanksgiving to take to my sister in laws house. Everyone who tried it, seemed to be really impressed with it. It is really good, the only reason I gave it four stars instead of five was I felt that there wasn't enough cream cheese filling when following the recipe. I am making it again for a bake off for work and I plan on increasing the cream cheese filling by 1.5 x's. It is a really simple to make. Peeling the slicing the apples was a little time consuming. I nuked the apples for 3 minutes as suggested by others. This will be a repeat recipe at my house.

Thank you thank you thank you for this recipe! I used pecans instead of walnuts, but otherwise followed the recipe exactly. It went together very quickly and the squares are delicious.

Burrebrede (Scottish shortbread)

Reviewed: Jun. 27, 2009
We really liked these. They melt in your mouth! I didn't have any superfine sugar, but I whirled some regular sugar in my food processor, which did the trick. The flavor is very subtle, but letting the cookie dissolve in your mouth lets you get the full effect. Thank you for the recipe, Tech! I will add it to my collection.

One word...Wonderful. Easy, inexpensive and taste out of the world. I would just like others and add a pinch of garlic salt and the bread crumbs next time.

Grandmother's Buttermilk Cornbread

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2008
As a southerner, I have to say that this falls short of good cornbread... but as a cornbread cake it's not too bad. We actually make a similar recipe at work and add blueberries to it. It sells well this way, but we've had some people complain about our labeling the plain version "cornbread." In the south cornbread is never sweet but rather dense and moist with a deep corn flavor. We use only white cornmeal and never add sugar.

Gourmet Pretzel Rods

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2008
I made these at Christmas time and gave away to neighbors and friends with homemade cookies. The favorite was the one with chocolate and rolled in crushed butterfinger candy. Just freeze the candy and beat up in a plastic bag. I recommend laying down either wax paper or plastic because of the drips and mess. but oh so easy and oh so good

Ranch-Style Quiche

Reviewed: Jul. 29, 2008
i rated this 5 stars based on my version, I use more bacon (8 slices)instead of swiss cheese, I use 3/4 cup grated mozerella and 3/4 cup grated sharp cheddar plus about 2 tablespoons of finely chopped onion. perhaps this cuts the salt of the dressing mix. This is a favorite of my husbands

I had this at a babyshower last week and everyone there requested the recipe. I made a batch this weekend and served it with angel food cake (to reduce the fat) My daughter raved about how good it was and how simple it was to make. Because of her preferrrences I added strawberries.
