Banana Sour Cream Bread

I thought my Mom's banana nut bread was the best until I tried this. This is banana-nut-bread HEAVEN!!! I added some nutmeg and ginger for a little more kick, and I thoroughly enjoyed every last muffin <3

Onion Roasted Sweet Potatoes

Reviewed: Sep. 14, 2008
This was VERY good and quite easy to make. I did partially cook the sweet potato chunks in the microwave before tossing them with the oil and onion soup (to save time.) Will make this one again!

Grilled Flat Iron Steak with Blue Cheese-Chive Butter

Reviewed: Sep. 10, 2008
This was the easiest and tastiest steak recipe! Made it for my husband and throughout the entire meal, he kept saying "Wow, this is really fantastic!". To serve it, I slathered the butter across the top of the steak then cut it along the grain as suggested. The butter melts in between each slice, making it even better. Definitely will be making this one again!

We made this as a weekend treat several weeks in a row. My husband even got in the kitchen. He now can make this himself with no help. Even better with homemade vanilla icecream.

Bulgur Wheat with Dried Cranberries

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2008
This recipe is wonderful. I used home made chicken stock, onions, a little garlic and parsley to balance the flavors. Bulgur is a high fiber, protein grain. Use it to replace rice or potatoes. B.J. Corpening

Very easy and tasty quiche. I agree with reviewers who increased hot sauce and substituted Old Bay for the salt. I also used Jumbo Lump Blue Crab meat, Pricey but Soooo worth it.

Easy Fried Eggplant

Reviewed: Aug. 23, 2008
I wanted to eggplant since i had never had it before and this was delicious! i did my homework on eggplant before i even tried this. after i washed and peeled it, i soaked it in salt water for a few minutes. I drained and added seasoned salt and pepper. i also added wishbone ranch dressing to the egg and used italian seasoned breadcrumbs. i used enough oil to cover the bottom of the pan and they came out wonderful. I also used some ranch dressing for the dipping sauce. will be using this again-thanks for the post :)

Cheesecake Pops

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2008
Ok, so I have to admit that I have only baked 2 cheesecake's in my life and this was the 2nd one! Either way...the cheesecake turned out well and I formed the balls quite simply. My problem that I ran into was that my chocolate dip became to thick...I guess I need to watch it better. All in all an amazingly clever recipe but definitely very, very time consuming. This is a 2 day project but would be perfect for kids to help. I dipped some in crushed Butterfinger, Heath Bar and Snickers. I don't reccomend the snickers so much b/c of the caramel but any other hard candy bar would work great. Thanks for the recipe!

In the south we love a bbq flavor to this recipe, so I added small amt. of liquid smoke, and some left over pork roast. Reminded me of my childhood.

Butter Cream Frosting II

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2008
I had to make a super quick frosting this morning and this is the one i had all the ingredients for. I love it. I didn't have margarine or shortening so i just used all butter. It tasted wonderful. I did ad about 1/4 cup of merange (sp) powder to help stiffen it up. my only suggestion is to refridgerate for about 1 hour before using if you are going to decorate with it. I also added 8oz of cream cheese to half the batch for a second cake. It turned out to be one of the best cream cheese frostings i have ever made. I will defately use this as a base for my frostings from now on.

Fried Onion Rings

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2008
I made as recipe stated, however, I noticed the 1 cup of beer was not enough. I used 1 12oz can of beer. Added cumin, paprika, season salt, pepper and garlic powder to the batter as well. Soaked the onions in water and dropped them in a gallon bag with seasoned flour then dredged in the batter. (MAKE SURE TO DRAIN EXCESS FLOUR WHEN TRANSFERING FROM GAL BAG TO BATTER AS THE BATTER WILL THICKEN TO PLA-DOH CONSISTENCY-to fix, add more beer and let set.) I used wooden skewers as my guides to drop in the batter and then a different one to scoop the cooked ones out. BTW-don't have a deep fryer so I used a cast iron skillet and veggie oil. Turned out AMAZING! A great recipe!

Bacon Wrapped Barbeque Shrimp

Reviewed: Jul. 20, 2008
Wonderful recipe! You do need to precook your bacon a little in the microwave so it gets done when your shrimp does. I also skewer mine, cook on the grill and brush with a honey mustard, and serve more honey mustard on the side for dipping. Devine! This is my very favorite way to eat shrimp.

Spinach and Carrot Quiche

Reviewed: Jul. 19, 2008
This was great even though I made a few changes--I used about 1/2 cup of frozen onions and didn't saute them and instead of 2 pie shells I used a 9x13 pan and made a potato flake/butter "quiche crust" I use quite often. This was great for a vegetarian dinner but I can see how it'd be great for brunch!

Bow Ties with Sausage, Tomatoes and Cream

Reviewed: Jul. 7, 2008
I give this recipe a definite 5 on ease and a 4 1/2 on taste. My bf messaged me 20 min before leaving work and what do I do...go to AR and post a request for help with dinner. Within minutes I received a few recomendations and sent links to BF. He picked this one and when we came home, he ended up making it. It turned out delicious, if I was in the kitchen I would have tweaked it a little. The only thing we changed was used 2 (14 1/2 oz) of Stewed Italian Tomatoes and added a about a have a tsp of granulated sugar 3 minutes before combining sauce to pasta. Turned out great, would only possibly add a 1/2 cup vodka and 4-6 oz of pan seared pancetta! Either way, definitely a simple, easy weeknight dinner the whole family would love. And best part-NO PROCESSED SAUCE!

Scalloped Potatoes and Onions

I was so hungry for scalloped potatoes and had never made them myself - but this recipe was so easy and delicious! I used sour cream since I was out of mayo, and added parmesan cheese and fresh parsley to the top for the last few minutes in the oven. Great recipe!
