BBQ Country Style Ribs

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2010
These were great. The only change I made was to add a little bit of orange juice to the pan during the first baking. They were very moist and delicious. We will definitely be making these again.

Pecan Pie IV

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2009
This is a wonderful pecan pie. Tasted just like my mom used to make, and I'm glad that I found it because I couldn't find my mother's recipe. It filled a Pet-Ritz 9" deep dish pie shell perfectly with no overrun. Very simple to make, with great results. I liked the fact that it didn't call for dark corn syrup as many of the others do. Will be keeping this one in my recipe box for future use. Thanks for sharing your recipe!

Cranberry Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2009
This is an excellent basic cranberry sauce. In the past, I always made a version with nuts and apples in it, but my family doesn't care for it, and I end up eating it all myself. This year I decided to try something different. The only changes I made were I added some grated orange zest and about 1/4 tsp of cinnamon (because I saw Tyler Florence make a similar version yesterday on Food Network, and he used a cinnamon stick & grated orange zest). Excellent! I highly recommend.

Parmesan Herb Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2009
This chicken was excellent! I used boneless chicken breasts, and cooked at 350 until they reached an internal temperature of 165. They were moist and delicious. The seasonings were perfect. I will definately be making this one again and again. Thanks for the recipe!

White Chocolate Grapes

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2009
Wonderful and refreshing...I tried dipping them 1/2 way in caramel first, then after that set up, I dipped it in the white chocolate...the BEST touch was instead of nuts, I rolled in crushed Golden Graham cereal...My next feat is to somehow make these less messy...perhaps dipping in the chocolate, rolling in cereal and then drizzling the caramel ontop...

Sesame Beef

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2009
Excellent. I used 1/3 cup soy sauce, 1/3 cup sugar, vegetable oil plus a couple os splashes of sesame oil to fill 1/3 cup, 3 cloves of garlic and 3 green onions. I had "beef round sliced thin for milanese", which is what it said on the package, and it worked GREAT. I marinated the meat for about 4 hours. After I cooked the meat in the pan, I removed it, then stir fried some broccoli, carrots and mushrooms in the sauce that was left in the pan, then added the beef back to the pan. Served over white rice, and it was wonderful. My family loved this - no left overs! Yeah!

Spiced Pumpkin Seeds

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2009
We make these every year, and love them. I had about 3 cups of seeds, which I washed really well, then dried them. If you leave them too wet, the mixture won't stick to the seeds very well (the whole oil doesn't mix with water thing). I adjusted the ingredients a bit because I had more seeds than the recipe called for. I used the same amount of butter, but added about 2 tsp of olive oil. I used 1 tsp of salt, 1 tsp of Lawry's season salt, and 1 tsp of garlic powder (didn't have any garlic salt on hand). I doubled the worcestershire. Yumm-o!

Sugar Cookie Icing

I'm sure this recipe works for others, but I couldn't get it to work for me. Maybe it's my decorating skills that aren't up to par, but I'm going back to my recipe with butter in it.

The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2009
This is a great recipe. I mixed mine up the night before and refrigerated overnight. The dough is a bit hard to work with directly from the refrigerator, but if you let it warm up "a bit" it works out great. For those of you that had trouble with it sticking, you need to be sure that your surface is well floured and that your rolling pin and/or top surface of the dough is floured too! I tried rolling it on the parchment paper (which I thought was a great idea), but it didn't work out that great - so I defaulted to my normal method, which is to roll it out on my Pampered Chef Silicone mat that is used for rolling our pie crust/pizza crust, etc. I just flip it over (because the normal side has the diameter marks embossed on it for the size of pie crust you want)and roll my dough out on the back side - well floured of course. You can lift the cookies right off - sometimes they even pull up with the cookie cutter alone, and then you can transfer them to your cookie sheet. We make cut out cookies for all of the holidays, and I've used this recipe about 5 times now, and it has never failed me. No alterations to the ingredients at all. Wonderful!

Grandmother's Buttermilk Cornbread

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2009
This is a great recipe. The cornbread was moist, sweet (but not too sweet) and full of flavor. It also held together well - not crumbly at all. I didn't have buttermilk, but the commonly used substitute of milk and a Tbsp of lemon juice did the trick. I also baked it in a cast iron pot which let it brown nicely.

Best Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2009
This is a reliable recipe. I often have issues with my chocolate chip cookies going flat and the flavor is sometimes a little off. Not with these. The texture is perfect, so is the flavor. I freeze whatever I don't need so whenever I'm craving some I can just pop a cookie in the oven. Thanks Dora, I won't be following the recipe on the Chocolate Chip packages anymore.

Cake with Buttercream Decorating Frosting

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2009
This was very good buttercream. I used heavy cream instead of milk and added a bit of almond flavoring. I piped it onto cupcakes using a 2D tip, and everyone at the Fall Festival thought they were store bought. Will use this one again.

Jamie's Cranberry Spinach Salad

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2009
Absolutely LOVED this salad. I used mixed greens instead of just the spinach - which I highly recommend. I also added crumbled gorgonzola, which gave a nice balance of salt to the sweetness of the dresssing & dried cranberries. The dressing is wonderful. I left out the poppyseeds, because I didn't have any on hand - but didn't miss them at all. I will definatley be making this one again and again.

Chicken Lo Mein

Reviewed: Oct. 7, 2009
We all really enjoyed this. I used 4 pkgs of Ramen noodles (without the seasoning packet) in place of the linguini. I also added julienned carrots, finely chopped broccoli, celery and pea pods. I added about 2 tbls. of oyster sauce to the chicken broth/water mixture (which I believe really helped the flavor of the sauce). I will definatley be making this again. Thanks for the recipe!

Slow Cooker Kielbasa and Beer

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2009
Loved it. I used a squirt of honey and a big teaspoon of grain mustard in with the beer. I used only 1 bottle of beer and 1 14 oz. can of sour kraut, and 1 lb (1 ring) of kielbasa. Cooked in the slow cooker for about 3-4 hours and YUMMO!

White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Cookies IV

Reviewed: Oct. 1, 2009
I've never really been a fan of the whole white chocolate and macadamia nut thing. These cookies have converted me. I doubled the recipe, but kept the chocolate/nuts the same. I used a 12 oz bag of white chocolate chips. I also only added 1/2 tsp of salt because the nuts were salted. I had to cook them for 12-14 minutes at 375. But they were soooooo worth it. I could sell these if I wanted to.

Rempel Family Meatloaf

I did sift out the powder from the onion soup mix like the submitter wrote in her review, and we really enjoyed this. Tasted great the next day too on a cold meatloaf sandwich. Kids liked it too. Thanks for the recipe. Will make this again.

Chuck's Favorite Mac and Cheese

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2009
The mac & cheese part was very good, but the bread crumbs were too much. I ended up scraping as many of the crumbs off that I could so the kids would eat it. They asked me not to put the bread crumbs on it next time I make it. Will probably just put extra cheese on top like some other reviewers suggested.

Apple Crumble Pie

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2009
I had some apples that needed to be used up, and I threw this together in literally 15 minutes. It tasted great, but could have been baked just a bit longer as the apples weren't as soft as I would have liked. Next time I'll wrap the crust with tin foil and bake a bit longer. Flavor was definately there though. Thanks for the recipe.

Orange, Walnut, Gorgonzola and Mixed Greens Salad with Fresh Citrus Vinaigrette

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2009
This salad was soooo good! I absolutely loved the dressing. I left out the walnuts because I didn't have any on hand - but will definately be putting them on my grocery list so that I can make this salad again with them. Very refreshing salad. Could be made into a main dish by adding some marinated grilled chicken breast strips on top. Love it!
