Cornish Game Hens with Garlic and Rosemary

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2006
This was wonderful! I used the ingredients on a small chicken instead of a cornish hen, and omitted the rosemary (I don't care for it). I will definitely use this recipe again. Thanks for the great recipe!!!

French Silk Frosting

Loved it! I did add 2 tablespoons more milk, and I used chocolate milk instead of whole milk. It wasn't too sweet. I will definitely use this one again, probably on brownies. Thanks for the great recipe!

Blackened Salmon Fillets

Reviewed: Sep. 10, 2006
This was great! I cooked on top of the stove for roughly 5 minutes total (about 2.5 min each side, just enough to sear) and then broiled in the stove. I also tried this recipe with Tilapia, and it turned out just as good. A keeper! Thanks for the great recipe!! I've often broiled the salmon also, using a bit of olive oil and the same seasonings, also using Smart Balance instead of the butter.

Baked French Fries I

These were excellent! The first time I made these like the recipe stated. The second time, I made these and added 1 tsp grated parmesan cheese and an additional 1/2 tsp garlic, for a garlic parmesan flavor. These are a definite keeper!!!

Lemon Ginger Shrimp

Reviewed: Jun. 27, 2006
These are absolutely wonderful. I didn't change a thing in the recipe. I've already made them twice this week! The first time I cooked these, I cooked them on the grill. The second time, I cooked them on the george foreman - and they came out just as good! I also tried the marinade on asparagus - they were wonderful! I am going to try the marinade on chicken and salmon at a later date. I imagine those will be heavenly too!

Pot Stickers Traditional

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2006
This recipe was excellent!!!! Similar to the ones you would get from a Chinese restaurant, or even Friday's. I made modifications to the recipe, not because I felt they needed it, but because I was trying to make these a little more healthy. I did omit the cabbage (I haven't seen ones with cabbage in them), and I used ground chicken instead of pork. I used ground ginger. I also added minced carrots and onions. I left the ground chicken raw, and mixed the ingredients, then cooked them in peanut oil instead of sesame oil, and then steamed them in chicken broth. While steaming, I placed a top on top of the skillet. I also steamed for additional 7 minutes - wanted to make sure the ground chicken was thoroughly cooked. I also used Leanne's sauce of 2 TBSP soy sauce, 2 TBSP rice wine vinegar, 1 tsp sesame oil, and 1 tsp minced scallion, which was right on point. Loved this recipe and will definitely make again!!!!

Grilled Delmonico Steaks

This is some of the best steak marinade I have ever made!!! The only thing I did was reduce the salt drastically, and also reduced the soy sauce. I used filet mignon steaks instead of ribeyes. I will definitely make this again. Thanks for the great recipe!!!

This was an excellent recipe. The only thing I did differently was to add some black pepper to the seasonings on top of the turkey. Thanks for the great recipe, I will definitely use this one again!

Absolutely The Best Shrimp Scampi

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2005
I wasn't overly impressed with this recipe. It wasn't bad, but I felt like it was missing something. I will try it again, and maybe tinker with it a bit. Update (9/10) - I made this again, adding green onions and some lemon juice (1/4 lemon), and loved it. I also let the shrimp sit in the flour mixture about seven minutes before sauteeing, and added one small diced roma tomato to the garlic mixture - to imitate the scampi made at a restaurant famous for it's cheesecake. Thanks for the recipe!

Sesame Shrimp Stir-Fry

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2005
This was great! I used 1/2 soy sauce in the teriyaki, and added the sauce to the initial marinade. I also added additional vegetables, like baby corn, sliced white onions, and water chestnuts. This is great served with lumpia or Korean Cucumber Salad. Thanks for the great recipe!

Cheesecake Cookie Cups

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2005
These were excellent!!! Instead of making "cups", I used a small jelly roll pan and made bars. I used the "triple chcocolate decadence" cookie dough (it's the chocolate dough with the white chocolate chips) and the end result reminded me of a cheesecake brownie. I reduced the cook time of the cookie dough to eight minutes. I used reduced fat cream cheese, egg substitute to reduce the calorie/fat content, and I eliminated the cherry pie filling, didn't need the extra calories. I will definitely make these again. Thanks for the great recipe!!

Southern Dirty Rice

Reviewed: Sep. 20, 2005
This was great! I substituted 3/4 lb of ground beef for the chicken livers (not too keen on them, sorry!) - I also added 1/2 cup chopped celery and 1/4 lb chopped bell pepper. I will definitely make this again. Be careful with the cayenne pepper, if you can't handle spicy food! Thanks for the great recipe!

BUSH'S® Baja Rice & Beans

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2005
I had to doctor this up quite a bit...hence the 3 star rating. I added cheese to the end result, as well as cilantro and sour cream. I felt like the beans didn't have enough flavor...maybe some Pico de gallo/salsa/tomatillo salsa would have accented this nicely? I also added additional garlic to the beans. Thanks for the recipe, might make again with the additions.

Chap Chee Noodles

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2005
This was pretty good. I did add a teaspoon more soy sauce to the noodle mixture, as well as 1/2 teaspoon of sesame oil to the noodle mixture. I also added a few more veggies, such as 1/2 chopped yellow onion, a can of stir fry mix veggies, and substituted shredded coleslaw cabbage for the napa/spinach. I also cooked a side of filipino lumpia to go with the recipe. Will definitely make again, thanks for the great recipe!!!

Old Fashioned Peach Cobbler

Reviewed: Aug. 30, 2005
This was sooooo good! I used 2 cans of cherry pie filling (I wanted cherry cobbler instead of peach). I also substituted butter for half the shortening, and used an egg substitute instead of an egg to cut a calorie or two, LOL. I added a bit of vanilla to the crust, and served with vanilla bean ice cream. I will definitely make this again. Thanks for the great recipe!!!

Eggplant Parmesan II

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2005
This was excellent! I soaked the eggplant in salt for 20 min and then rinsed, to eliminate the bitterness, before breading. I used egg beaters to reduce the fat/calorie content. I also used sauce as my last topping. I served this over angel hair pasta and with garlic bread. Will definitely make again!! Thanks for the great recipe!
