Szechwan Shrimp - Family Favorite

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2009
AWESOME! I followed the recipe exactly, but used a pound of shrimp. My family loved it - only next time they want the recipe doubled. I served it with rice, Chinese Spicey Hot & Sour Soup, and Hot & Sour Chinese Eggplant - both from this site. My 12-year-old said he felt like he was in a really nice Chinese restaurant. And it's very easy. Thanks for a great recipe.

Caramelized Red Bell Peppers and Onions

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2009
My wife is not a big onion eater...she polished off the leftovers the next day...excellent side dish...what i liked best about it is the color it adds to a plate and eases of preperation. adding the wine is a definite must also.

Awesome! Make sure you cook them enough. The second time I made them I got impatient and pulled them out too early. The family loved them and asked for them again. Don't skip on the refrigeration.

Pound Cake III

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2009
i give it a 3 because HOLY MOLY if you really used 3 cups of sugar, i truly cant see how anyone could consume it. i used barely 2 cups sugar and its no where near what REAL POUND CAKE is supposed to taste like. however going by instructions , perfect way to actually make it come together. my advice is lower to say maybe 1 1/2 cups sugar that way you can GLAZE THE THING!

Bread Bowls

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2009
I used part whole wheat flour and part all-purpose, and that seemed to make my bowls a little chewy and not so smooth. And I only made four bowls because of the reviews, which was way too much bread. Eight would've been too small, I should have stuck with six. It was an okay recipe. Nothing to knock your socks off. The bread was kind of bland.

Spicy Chicken Enchiladas

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2009
These are simply fantastic. I had to leave the jalepenos out (for my wife) but we love this recipe. I don't know what ground chicken is but it sounds gross, so I boiled boneless chicken breasts until cooked then mashed up the meat using the handle of a large knife.

The Perfect Cream Cheese Pie Crust

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2009
I really don't like giving bad reviews, but I followed this recipe to the letter, and this dough was very sticky and I found it impossible to roll it out. No matter how much flour I used, it stuck to the counter and to my rolling pin. I tried adding a little more flour, to the dough, but that only made it tear easily. I tried chilling it, and it got crumbly. I was disappointed. Perhaps others will have better luck than I did, but I won't be trying this again.

Very good recipe with only one addition. I got this tip from a middle eastern cook book...I guess they don't have thgose special california egg plants either. But they recommended mashing the egg plant after u get it out of the oven and peel it. Which also means u want to use a little more eggplant to make up for juice loss and more olive oil to taste.

Key Lime Cheesecake I

Reviewed: Aug. 31, 2009
This cheesecake is missing something, ... until you add a scoop of 'Cool Whip' to each slice. The thick, creamy cheesecake is very lime-y - however the light, fluffy cool whip balances the texture and the sweetness moderates the lime flavor.

Amish White Bread

Reviewed: Aug. 20, 2009
This bread was really, really good. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because it was a little bit heavier than what I was looking for, and the texture wasn't quite as fine as I wanted. I've made it three times now, and each time it seems to be better than the last, so maybe practice makes perfect. I did try something new this time, though. Instead of punching down the dough, I gently pressed it out and rolled it into a loaf for the loaf pan. That seemed to help with the heaviness factor, though it made the texture less fine.

Becca's Chicken-Fried Pork Chops

Reviewed: Aug. 8, 2009
I liked this recipe but found it lacking in something? It may not be fair to rate it just 3 stars as I may have under seasoned the meat before I applied the recipe? Anyway, the egg wash was a nice touch but I might suggest marinating your meat in something, perhaps "Dale's" seasoning before applying the flour, etc. I really like this recipe so I'll give it another try soon.

Pan De Sal I

I gave it a 4 only for the BLAND taste. I used my own yeast starter as well and it came through as far as flavor goes but even with salt, sugar, salted butter, its just sooooo BLAND, no real flavor at all! but the texture, everything else is perfect. the igredients are proportinate to what your end result is. thanx, but will definitely tweak for my own taste!~

Just made these this morning, wife's appetite not too good this morning..but I made her try a bite...5 minutes later she was in the kitchen fixing a plate. Need I say more? The microwaving suggestion makes this recipe easier and quicker...and i probably will also play with the spices some. Thank you Laurie
