Quick and Easy Alfredo Sauce

Reviewed: Apr. 21, 2009
I had this recipe in my recipe box for over a year and kept forgetting about it. I made it one night and my son RAVED about how much he loved it with his noodles. I used the lower fat cream cheese with no problem. I did use a fresh garlic clove instead of the powdered stuff. A great and easy cheese sauce, yum!

Cream Puff Cake

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2009
I was very skeptical of this crust, but mine turned out perfect. I made the filling by whipping the cream cheese well first and then alternating the pudding powder and the milk. This was quite a lot of filling, next time I might scale the pudding and milk back for 2 pkgs, instead of 3. I used real whipped cream on top also. This was great and the leftovers were good as well, although not quite as nice as the first day. This would be great for a crowd as there really are 8-12 generous servings. Very yummy and impressive!!

Jo's Rosemary Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2009
excellent bread as written. I did try it with 1 cup of whole wheat as another reviewer suggested and that was WAY too much whole wheat flour, the flavor of the herbs was lost. Last time, I also added a few tsp of vital wheat gluten (some of the recipe exchange members recommended this) and it made for an excellent, tender texture. Very good bread!!

Slow Cooker Buffalo Chicken Sandwiches

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2009
This made for a decent, edible meal. It must be my personal taste, but I don't care for the shredded texture of chicken in this recipe. It winds up like the texture of tuna salad with the flavor of buffalo chicken. Not for me, but thanks for the idea.

Cha Cha's White Chicken Chili

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2009
I didn't follow this recipe exactly, (I used ground turkey and decreased the broth to one can and the beans to 2 cans) but I thought the seasoning using oregano and cumin along with the jalapenos was very yummy. I seasoned to my families tastes (not QUITE so spicy) and it was a very nice meal. I will make this one again, thanks.

Pierogi Casserole

Reviewed: Feb. 12, 2009
This totally fit the bill for my pierogi craving (I can't find them here and have never made from scratch). This was a little time-consuming to make (like any layered lasagna type dish) but very yummy. I did take a short cut and make instant mashed potatoes (a cheat) and I did as some other reviewers and added the onions and bacons throughout the casserole. This was very rich and pleasing and delish with some sour cream on the side. Not good for the waistline, but a nice treat. Thanks for the idea.

Dough Ornament Recipe

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2009
This was a fun and easy project. I halved this recipe and found I needed a touch more water to yield a nice, smooth dough. I mixed mine up in the kitchenaid, so I didn't have to knead by hand. It rolled out nicely with a touch of flour. I made small hearts with my boys and we did some with holes punched with a straw, and some with the paperclips that Cheryl (1st reviewer) suggested. I think I like the clean look of the clip as a hanger. Then just painted then and added 2 coats of mod-podge to seal and get a nice finish. They were fun to do and so cute. We are giving them as necklaces with our valentines cards this year.

Buffalo Chicken Dip

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2009
Great dip! This went over well at my Superbowl party. I only used one 8-oz. package of cream cheese, used bleu cheese instead of ranch, measured the hot sauce only to taste, and baked it rather than slow-cooked it. It's fattening as all get-out, so it's really rich, but I think it was a 9 out of 10. It should definitely be served hot, I'd say. The recipe made a ton, so I had a lot left over from my gathering of about 10 people. I will make again. Thanks for the recipe!

Best Bread Machine Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2009
this was excellent sandwich bread. I did use 1 1/2 tsp of salk as some reviewers recommended. As soon as it was cool, I sliced the whole loaf and made my son's sandwiches for the week. I got 5 sandwiches out of the loaf, which I froze (PB and J) and he loved them in his lunch. I love when I make that stuff ahead of time!!

Lana's Sweet and Sour Meatballs

Very good recipe, but I agree with others to double the sauce. I did double all the sauce ingred (except the canned pinapple) and served over steamed jasmine rice with some broccolli on the side. A good dinner.

Roasted Brussels Sprouts

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2009
Excellent method for brussels sprouts. I also have made green beans and asparagus using this hight-heat roasting technique and it adds sweetness to anything. YUM! I followed others' suggestions and halved most of my sprouts. These were delish.

Super-Delicious Zuppa Toscana

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2009
Good flavors. I used about 4 potatoes (the amount states sounded like a lot!) and the 4 were plenty. I used half a package of frozen, chopped spincach which was a great short cut. I thought this soup was kind of thin. I ate a bowl and was disappointed. I took what was leftover, made a slurry with about 3 TBSP of flour and some water and wisked that in and brought the soup back up to a boil. NOW, it is great soup, just needed some thickening to send it to greatness. I will make again, thanks for sharing.

Quick and Easy Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2009
This was great! (And truly quick and easy). I was worried about the amount of sugar in it, but it wasn't too sweet at all. I made two changes: I diced my chicken breasts into large chunks before cooking, and I added only 1/2 the amount of black pepper it called for. We'll definitely make this again and again!

Oatmeal Carmelitas

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2008
Not bad. Mine were not quite as sweet as I'd like and I'd say definitely too floury as is. However, I see a lot of potential in this recipe and I won't give up that easily. Made this as dessert with chicken pasta. I made mine with caramel-milk chocolate morsels and it came out very well using that. For presentation, I squeezed caramel in a drizzle pattern first and then melted chocolate with a little butter and drizzled that over the caramel. Pretty good as is, and with tweaking, it can only get better. DF loved these and said they were remniscent of Chewy bars. Thanks for the recipe!

A Plus Fair Corn Dogs

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2008
this was an excellent recipe for corn dogs, they fried up crispy on the outside, and tender inside. Awesome!! We made some by putting cocktail sausages on a skewer, 3 at a time and they were SO darn good. Totally worth the time and effort to make these at home. I did cut the sugar by about 1/3 based on reviews, did everything else by the recipe. Excellent, thanks for this batter recipe!

Candied Sweet Potatoes

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2008
This was a pretty good recipe. I added a little extra butter and cinnamon and was careful not to overtoast [burn] the marshmallows. Sprinkled pumpkin pie spices lightly on top for flavor and aesthetics. DF devoured this, and he doesn't usually like sweet potatoes. Good recipe!
