World's Best Lasagna

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2009
I have made this it is fantastic. I have one question though, directions do not say to drain the ground beef and sausage after cooking, are you supposed to? I have made it both ways, without draining is delicious but boy what heartburn later. When you drain the meat mixture there is no heartburn but not as tasty. Is it bad not to drain the meat before adding the sauces??

Rich Green Bean Casserole

I don't even know what to say about this except that if my wife didn't stop me, I would have eaten it all. I will hold off on the salt next time b/c between the the canned green beans, cheese, soup, and onions there was plenty. This is comfort food at it's best!

Country Fried Steak and Milk Gravy

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2008
Made this last night and it was delicious. I used vegetable oil instead of lard b/c that's what I had, and it was still delicious. The gravy was awesome and so easy. I can't wait to eat the leftovers for lunch.

It's good, go easy on the lemon curd for a less sweet/tart taste.

Indian Chicken Curry II

Reviewed: Aug. 13, 2008
I made this curry the other night and thought it tasted pretty good! I did leave out the lemon and cayenne pepper as some other members suggested, but I do think the next time I make it I will add that and see where that takes me and see how much it differs, if any, from making it without. All in all the recipe is easy to make and tastes great, the whole family enjoyed it and asked that it put on the remake list!

Grandma's Egg Custard Pie

Reviewed: Aug. 11, 2008
I made this for a sick friend who was craving custard. Stuck to the recipe but added one egg yolk left over from the egg white wash on the crust, as others did. Used half milk, half 1/2 'n 1/2. She raved so much I have made 3 more pies since! Can't get enough of it! Thanks, Grandma!!!

Mexican Egg Rolls

Reviewed: Jul. 29, 2008
When I made these I was afraid I wouldnt have enough filling so I added and extra taco seasoning and some refried beans. Well instead I ended up having extra which was great becuase I turned the extra meat into a taco pie. It was a perfect way to get an extra dish with out a lot of fuss. Will do this one again. My company raved over both :)

Easy Pasta Casserole

Reviewed: Jul. 25, 2008
I did not have high expectations for this. A sick friend gave me some hamburg and rotini and asked me to make something for her and her husband. I found this recipe, added chopped onions, minced garlic, salt and cumin to the meat. Used 1 jar of Newman's Marinara Sauce, 1 large can of tomato sauce, and one large can of diced tomatoes. I added a container of sliced baby portabello mushrooms. Mixed it all with the cooked pasta, and covered generously with lots of mozzarella. There was plenty because I doubled the recipe, so my husband I got to eat it, too, and so did two of our neighbors! I could not believe how tasty and filling it was. And so easy to fix! This is now on my regular schedule.....

World's Best Pasta Sauce!

Reviewed: Jul. 20, 2008
John Chandler's Lasagna is the World's Best! Ever since I have been making this, my husband wants me to make it once a week (I make it every other week)and he invites people over for dinner. I started doubling the recipe and save half for pasta sauce as it is as good for pasta sauce as it is for lasagna.

This soup was really great. I wanted a recipe to move some of the veggies from my hubbys garden and this one hit the spot. I kept things the same but just added the whole pound of sausage that I had. It was perfect, our childen loved it and I had plenty to share with my neighbors too!

Lemon Crisps

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2008
Oh my! This recipe was so wonderful! I am doing a bake sale for Cystic Fibrosis and I am sure people are going to love these! I know we do...I used just lemon cake and added vanilla pudding to the ingredients(dry not made), used 2 eggs like previously mentioned and also an extra cup of rice crispies and cooked for 14 minutes in my oven. I topped them with lemon icing! Divine!!! Making these again soon!!! Thanks so much!

Chocolate Cherry Cheesecake

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2008
I decided to use almonds instead of pecans, and it was a great match with the cherries! Also, instead of 1/2 an ounce of white chocolate for on top, I used a full ounce. For all of the cheesecakes I make, I wrap the bottom of my springform in aluminum foil, place it in the bottom half of a broiler pan and pour about an inch of hot water into the pan. This keeps them from drying/cracking. Also, after the time called for in the recipe, I turn off the oven and let it sit inside for an hour. The consistency is perfect every time! This was definitely a hit, and I plan on keeping the recipe for the future.

Best Ever Corn Muffins

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2007
These muffins are SO good. Did make some changes, though. Cut the bisquick back to 1 1/4 cups, increase the cornmeal to 1/2 cup, and lower the vanilla to 1 teaspoon or even 1/2 teaspoon. I thought the sugar amount was perfect. You can even sprinkle some cornmeal over the tops of the muffins before you bake them if you like a crunchier top. I will be making these constantly. Thanks!!

So many great reviews and I had high hopes. But we did not like it at all even though I followed the directions exactly. It tasted like bad roadhouse fare cooked by a hashflinger named Stinky. Sorry.

Kentucky Biscuits

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2007
Let me make this clear. I don't like bicuits much. Pretty bland and tasteless. But my husband loves biscuits so I relented and tried this recipe. Okay, I eat my words...I LOVE these biscuits!! I was floored by how tasty they were. And everyone is right, knead the dough very little (about 10 times) and they will be oh so tender. Now I have a freezer full so we can have them with almost all our meals. I am converted!!
