it was fantastic!!! I added pepperoncinis to the crock pot without the stems and some of the juice. It added some heat, it was awesome. I also added some chopped onions to the pot.

Cucumber Salad II

You could slice the cuke a little thicker, and put the slices in sour cream french onion dip, or add extra onion and put it all in just sour cream. Quick, easy side salad.

Yum, Yum, Yum. My 17 year old son ate his first sandwhich in about 3 minutes! I used a chuck roast and took the advice of others by adding garlic, black pepper, and mushrooms. Did I say Yum?

Grandpa's Peanut Butter Fudge

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2008
Thanks for the great "TRADITIONAL" recipe. I really hate it when people add marshmellow cream and then call it fudge. Our great grandmothers would roll over in their graves...... This recipe rates a 12 on the 1 to 10 scale.

Traditional Mashed Potatoes

That's a very good basic mashed potato recipe. Seems like everyone has a little tweak that they add....I do, too. I substitute buttermilk for regular milk and still use but a little less unsalted butter. MMmmm, I want some now!

Loved this growing up...still do and you can buy it at Bob Evans restaurants. My Mom used to fry up some sausage real brown, crumble it up and add to the mixture. Nice change and we loved it.

Vegan Brownies

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2008
Very good! This is the first recipe I have tried that has yielded positive results. I did double the vanilla extract, and I used one part oil and one part melted Earth Balance vegan margarine (because I ran out of oil). I baked them for about 38 minutes, and hey turned out very, very gooey. Next time I will use all butter instead of oil, soymilk instead of water, and will bake longer. Overall, it tastes great!!

This is really good. A suggestion--If you can get Vernor's Ginger Ale, use that. Oh my! what a flavor. A glaze of the ingredients that another reviewer wrote would be perfect.

Chocolate Trifle

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2007
UPDATE: I have whipped up this yummy trifle five times since Thanksgiving. Such a simple dessert that has people begging me for this recipe. I plan on making it again this weekend...with Andes mints!!!Incredible! I brought this dessert to a party and it was gone in a flash! Everyone was in heaven eating the chocolate trifle. I should have made two trifles!!! I did change two things (as suggested by other reviewers) - used french vanilla cool whip and whipped 1/2 pint of heavy cream.

Hamburger Soup I

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2007
What's really nice about Hamburger Soup is that you can subtract or add any ingredient that you wish. I use cubed potato, and add the liquid from the canned veggies, use low-salt beef broth, make a bouquet garnii with bay leaf, oregano, rosemary, dill weed(use in place of salt), and whatever else you desire. Add heat, or not, and it still will come out delicious and satisfying. Make the soup your own.

Homemade Mac and Cheese

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2007
This is a really yummy recipe, and whether you use Velveeta or cheddar is simply a personal preference. I use extra-sharp cheddar, omit the breadcrumbs, and put onion powder in the sauce. Also use more cheddar, shredded, on the top, and sprinkle paprika over all. I make a thinner roux because it does thicken up while baking.

Slow Cooker Vegetable Beef Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2006
This is a good starter recipe. The nice thing about it is you can add veggies and your own spices and herbs. We like bite-sized potatoes and carrots, and maybe not add pasta. A can of tomato sauce is good, too, for color. Grated parmesan cheese is wonderful for sprinkling on the top. Crusty bread is a must(we like to dip).
