Sauerkraut Pork Supper

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2009
My husband loved this! I, too, used the crock pot on low for about 8 hours and the roast was falling apart. He prefers it a little sweeter but I just let him sprinkle a little Splenda over his kraut; to me it was not actually sweet at all, but not as sour as sauerkraut alone would be.

Spicy Black Bean Cakes

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2009
this was a great alternative to having a black bean burger at Chili's! Next time I need to use more jalapeno peppers...I cut down to one huge one and it wasn't enough. I think I would make the sauce a few hours or the night before so that the flavors would be more intense. This is a really good recipe for a vegetarian alternative.

Ultimate Chicken Fingers

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2009
Excellent flavor and the chicken was very tender. We put the strips on buns with ranch and buffalo sauce...yum yum. They were a little "soggy" with butter, but I am from the dairy state...no amount of butter is too much (as I'm sure Paula Deen would agree!).

Very good...we added a little more pineapple juice to the dressing; it was a little tart for our taste!

Apple Bacon Tomato Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2009
As I was making this I was starting to wonder if it was some kind of joke...it just sounded too weird but the reviews were so good I had to try it. It was SO good...thought I was in a gourmet restaurant!! Didn't know if I was supposed to drain the beans so I didn't! Didn't seem to affect the flavor.

Lemon and Cilantro Shrimp

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2009
I would not have tried this in a million years had it not been for the great reviews. It was awesome. I only used zest from two lemons and about 1/2 c. chopped cilantro for 24 large shrimp. SO delicious!! We served it over a salad.

Buttermilk Honey Wheat Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2009
It was an okay bread. Nothing special. It is not worth five stars. A tip for others, follow the recipes EXACTLY! DO NOT ADD MORE FLOUR! I tried to do this, and ended up doubling the recipe because adding more flour made the dough too dry.

Amish White Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2008
I first made this recipe just to see how it tastes, boy did I get the best and easiest recipe. I ate the first loaf in about an hour and had to use great restraint for the other loaf, Now it is a family favorite. VERY, VERY, TASTY. An alternate variation that we did was to cut half a cup of sugar and add one cup of raisons.

I did not care for this. I halved the recipe, but other than that, I followed the recipe EXACTLY. It turned out very watery. Do yourself a favor, and don't make this recpie. Skip over it for another!!

High Temperature Eye-of-Round Roast

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2008
Like many others, I was very surprised that this cooked up the way it did. Perfect medium rare and juicy. My only negative would be that it did not "tenderize" this eye-of-round to my satisfaction. I wonder how this would work (the high temp method) for a standing rib or tenderloin? Would I use this again, maybe not with the same cut of beef, but the concept of cooking is wonderful.

Garlic Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2008
Good, but not five star good. I used italian bread crumbs, and pounded the chicken. It was good but needed something else. I put it on top if spaghetti to create chicken Parmesan. I will make the chicken again, but next time i will experiment with different herbs.

Shrimp Scampi Bake

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2008
This is "the Best". What an easy way to have a wonderful meal. I recalculated this to 3 servings, which uses 1 lb. of shrimp and is plenty for just the two of us. Wouldn't hesitate to fix this for guests. We love it with grilled asparagus and a salad.

Hawaii Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2008
I follwed the recipe exactly except added a tiny bit of ginger, and used chicken breasts. At first it was okay. Nice and sweet, but had a weird texture. The more I ate of it, the worse I felt. Then after eating almost half a plate of this, I couldn't eat it anymore. My husband asked me to please don't make this dish again.

Slow Cooker Pepper Steak

Very tasty but when in the crock pot,but you need to add more liquids. This is a very easy throw togehter meal for a weeknight!great for those who like pepper steak. Tip when using stewed tomatoes, use one with the Italian seasonings. It adds more flavor to the dish.

Marsala Whipped Sweet Potatoes

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2008
The first time I tried this recipe my husband accidently put grnd coriander instead of nutmeg. So I added extra nutneg, and extra cinnamon to cover the mistake. The second time I made this, I followed the recipe EXACTLY. BUt it had a very balnd taste, so again I added extra cinnamon, and nutmeg. That did not help, so I added brown sugar and allspice. For that reason alone I am giving it two stars instead of one. If you attempt at this mrecipe, add extra cinnamon, and extra nutmeg to improve the taste. If that doesn't help, try about a 2 Tsp of brown sugar.

Blueberry Streusel Muffins

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2008
I've made this recipe a couple of times and it's wonderful. The batter is rich and creamy and the muffins turn out perfectly round and beautiful. The streusel is really unnecessary but if you use it I think you should add oatmeal or something to make it more substantial. I also tried a 50/50 mix of whole wheat and white flour and they definitely didn't have the same loft as before. They still tasted very good but they were pretty flat.
