Cheddar Cauliflower Quiche

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2009
This was a different twist on a quiche. We used refrigerated pie crust to save time. Toast the nuts in the microwave and don't overcook the cauliflower; it will cook more in the oven.

Grilled Romaine Salad

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2009
The dressing was a bit too sweet for my taste, I prefer oil & vinegar with blue cheese crumbles. I also do not turn the romaine, just lay the cut side down and leave a very short time until it has grill marks. Turning or leaving it too long seems to take the crunch out of it.

Overall excellent; I think I will thicken it a little more next time. Good with a splash of sherry on the top. Just enough heat.

Peppered Bacon and Tomato Linguine

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2009
Very simple but excellent. Had a hard time finding peppered bacon but finally got some at Wal-Mart. I did double the tomatoes and used Italian style. Also used regular onions, about 1/2 cup chopped. Added 3/4 c. half and half.

Peppered Bacon and Tomato Linguine

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2009
This was very good and different. I too could not find peppered bacon, so I bought thick sliced bacon then rubbed it with cracked pepper. Worked fine. I also used two cans of tomatoes to make more sauce and we like a little sugar to take away the acidity...so I added 1Tbsp. sugar. I might have been missing something, but I don't believe the original recipe indicated when to put the bacon in, it just said "drain, reserving drippings and set aside", but as indicated by others, I added the bacon just before serving. I definately would make this again.

Slow Cooker Buffalo Chicken Sandwiches

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2009
Oops I just realized we used a whole pkg of ranch drsg mix...but it was great! Very spicy (I used Ken's wing sauce) but we slathered our buns with bleu cheese dressing which helped cancel out some of the heat. A great Saturday supper!

Sweet, Sticky and Spicy Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 6, 2009
This was good but not great. I would add some cornstarch to the liquid so that it would be thicker and stay on the chicken. Also, I would not season the chicken with salt and pepper because the sauce has enough salt (and I am a salt lover!) Will probably try again with these changes; waiting for the sauce to thicken on its own causes the meat to dry out.

Chocolate Chip Banana Muffins

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2009
This is the third muffin recipe I've rated on Allrecipes and if I'd made this one first then I wouldn't have given the other two such a high rating. I gave a muffin to my mom and she said it tasted like a chocolate covered banana. They are seriously fabulous! I (like others suggested) used sour cream instead of yogurt and butter instead of oil becuse I didn't have either of those things. I also used a 50/50 blend of white flour and white whole wheat flour. They were dense for sure, but very moist and really, really tasty- just the way I like them.

Buffalo Chicken Dip

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2009
I have also been making this for years...the original recipe was only half as much and I had to double it (to proportions here) for our annual Christmas party--it was devoured! Please be sure to use Frank's sauce...it just worked better than another brand I tried b/c I think it was a little thicker.

Pizza Dough I

This recipe is fast and easy so I can make it at the last minute. I toss everything into my bread machine and let it make the dough for me. I also substitute 1/2 whole wheat flour for the amount called for. It turns out great every time and my family loves it.

Chocolate Chip Muffins

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2009
I followed the advice of Mandacook1 and added 1/4 cup of sour cream and vanilla extract. I also substituted melted butter for the oil since I didn't have any & I used 1cup white flour and 1 cup whole wheat flour. It turned out fantastic and very moist. This recipe is super simple to make and tasted really good. I love it because I can throw these together at the drop of a hat.

Makeover Fruit Pizza

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2009
OK, maybe you all think I'm crazy, but this was really good. I was skeptical when I formed that crumby mixture on the pizza pan...but it was really good. The only change I made was to substitute orange juice for pineapple (1/4 c. concentrate w/ 1 cup water) and skipped the lemon.

Awesome Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Reviewed: Aug. 14, 2009
I make this all the time, but with not quite as big a roast, so I only use one can of mushroom soup. Instead of water I use about 1/2 soup can of red wine--(whatever is sitting open on the shelf--or a bottle I have deemed undrinkable for pleasure). You really don't need more liquid than this in the slow cooker and it makes great gravy. Sometimes I throw in a handful of baby carrots.
