Spaghetti Squash I

Reviewed: Jun. 30, 2009
This recipe was delicious and easy to make...I used two small squashes and it yielded enough for two. Next time I will make atleast 3, that way I have at least some leftovers!

Moroccan Lentil Soup

Reviewed: Jun. 25, 2009
I made this recipe with a few slight alterations/substitutions, and it turned out great...I didnt have garbanzo beans on hand, so I used Navy beans. I also did not have canellini beans, so those were just omitted. Also, instead of all water, I substituted some with chicken broth. Other than that, I followed the recipe. I found that the lentils were ready in about 45 minutes over medium-low heat, and felt that it didnt need to be blended at all. BTW- Dont spend big $$ on buying cardamom unless you plan on using it a lot. (This spice is usually already found in Garam Masala.) I will likely try this again, but with some nice Naan bread! :)

Downeast Maine Pumpkin Bread

Reviewed: Jun. 18, 2009
Ive made this recipe a few times now, and never rated it. Its absolutely moist, delicious, and moist! Definetely even better the next day. Make sure you dont cover too tightly though...Allow it some breathing room. (I lightly wrap mine in foil and keep inside microwave or on counter). Otherwise, it will turn into a dense, pumpkin log!

Ham Cheddar Biscuits

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2009
These were great! I added 1/4 cup melted butter to the mix. I also added onion powder and garlic powder. These were not dry at all! Mine came out soft and moist on the inside. They were so flavorful with only a small amount of ingredients. GREAT to use up that Easter ham! Thanks.

These were so delicious. We all loved them over here. My husband said these were the best cookies ever, and they are his new favorite. My 1 year old really loved them too! I made mine bigger than the recipe called for so I got 18 big huge cookies. Thanks so much for this recipe. It's going to be in my family forever now.

Homefried Potatoes with Garlic and Bacon

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2009
These potatoes were fantastic. I didn't make the recipe exactly, because I didn't have some of the ingredients. I used granulated garlic with some black pepper. (I didn't have the garlic pepper seasoning) I also added some salt to taste. This recipe is going into my recipe box. Thanks so much. It is such a wonderful addition to everything else I make at breakfast!

i was skeptical about this recipe, but it was a huge hit at a Super Bowl party this weekend! :)Dont judge it by the way it tastes before baking! I followed the advice of another reviewer and topped it with Panko crumbs and grated parmesan before baking. YUM!!

Slow Cooker Chicken Taco Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2009
This absolutely wonderful...I didnt have taco seasoning, but used the advice of another reviewer and added spices normally in taco seasong individually(paprika, blakc pepper, etc.) Also, I used "spicy" chili beans instead. I cooked in slow cooker for abour 6 hours, shredded chicken, and cooked for another 2-3 hours.

Cake Balls

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2008
Don't listen to bad reviews. I almost did, and if I would have I REALLY would have missed out. Key tips: 1) Refrigerate mixture for a hour. It's easier to make balls. 2) Freeze balls for another hour. Easy to dip. I followed those 2 key tips from another review, and everything went easy for me. My husband told me he couldn't believe I made these. They reminded him of those fancy chocolate covered strawberries. These taste special, they look amazing, and anyone would love to receive them as a gift. Thanks so much AMALLEN23!

Homestyle Turkey, the Michigander Way

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2008
Ive never made a whole turkey, and I decided to use this recipe...And boy was I glad I did! It was absolutely perfect. The only slight alterations I made were 1)I used a little more butter than it called for and buttered the whole bird, as well poured some into the breast meat. (I did this buy holding the bird upright and pouring melted butter into the space between the skin and breast). 2)I used chicken broth instead of bouillon diluted with warm water. And 3)I added a little dry vermouth to the cavity as well as the broth, and finally, 4) I chopped a whole red onion, some celery, and fresh herbs and put them into the cavity. I believe the fresh herbs defintely made a big difference.
