Whole Wheat Blueberry Pancakes

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2009
this was good - not to die for, but a good breakfast to start the day. i doubled the recipe and added 1 more egg. took the advice of others and added 1/4 cup more milk (2%). mashed 3 bananas and added it to the batter because i didn't have blueberries. also added about 1 tbsp. pure vanilla and an extra tbsp. of splenda.

French Pastry Pie Crust

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2008
I decided to make my own crust because I couldn't find any at the frozen section at our local store. I am so glad I made that decision because this is the best pie crust - together with grandma ople's apple pie recipe, this was a match made in heaven. I will always use this pie crust from now on.

Grandma Ople's Apple Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2008
I used the french pastry pie recipe for this pie - I added 1/2 tsp. salt, 1 tsp. cinnamon and 1/2 tsp nutmeg to the sauce and had no problems with the color at all. The sauce, combined with the french pastry pie, is what makes this pie so good. Next time I make this, I will do what others did by combining half the sauce with the apples and pour the other half over the lattice top.

Soft, Moist and Gooey Cinnamon Buns

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2008
i was looking for a good cinnamon bun recipe and i think i found the best - husband said it was the best thing i ever baked! i only had banana pudding mix on hand and like some, put the entire box in. i was a little worried about the banana flavor, but it turned out fine - you won't even know it was in it. i did omit the raisins and used pecans instead of walnuts. i also took heed of others and doubled the brown sugar cinnamon mix. i thought it would be sweet enough without the frosting so i omitted it completely. definitely will be one of my favorite things to bake.

Quinoa with Veggies

Reviewed: Aug. 3, 2008
both my husband and i love the flavors of this dish. as the recipe states, you can use almost any vegetable that you have on hand. i used garlic, red onion, fresh corn cut from the cob, red bell pepper and celery. i also used red quinoa which, i think, takes more time to cook than white quinoa. awesome recipe!

Swordfish a la Siciliana

Reviewed: Aug. 3, 2008
the only thing i didn't have were the pine nuts - because the fish wasn't fried or grilled, it made the sauce too watery. next time, i will either fry or grill the fish first.

Chocolate Trifle

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2008
everyone thought this was really good - the one drawback is that you can only eat so much of it. i followed some of the suggestions - i added bailey's cream and used real cream instead of cool whip. if i had used the cool whip maybe it wouldnt have been as rich as it was. however, if you are a chocoholic, this recipe is for you.

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2008
i agree with most viewers that you can add anything (within reason) to this soup and it will still be good. since i didnt have any celery, i used a can of cream of celery instead. i also didnt use any chicken flavorings because i used ham bone leftover from a spiral ham we had for dinner. i also added chopped green onions towards the end for color. great recipe!

Oranged Cranberry Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2007
i did this recipe once before but didnt rate/review it. i love this recipe - it is a good introduction for a non-cranberry sauce lover. update: i decided to make this again for thanksgiving 2008. this time i used the zest of 1 orange and the juice of 1 orange instead of oj. i also put 3/4 c. white and 3/4 c. brown sugar. i added only 2/3 c. water and i think it this helped in the making the consistency a little thicker. absolutely delicious!

Rotelle Pasta Salad

Reviewed: Oct. 6, 2007
i've had pasta salads before and never really cared for them because i found them too oily and sour for my taste. i was tempted to make this recipe because it had vegetables in it which i found interesting. this recipe turned out to be really good. i used skinless chicken breast instead of turkey. i also used grated parmesan cheese instead of cheddar. i thought about making my own italian dressing but decided to use paul newman's family recipe instead. i also used hormel's real bacon instead of making my own bacon bits.

Crumb-Topped Rhubarb

Reviewed: Jun. 12, 2007
This is an awesome recipe! I added three cups of cut-up strawberries, baked it in a round stoneware pan. It cooled overnight and we had it warmed-up in the microwave the next day (about 20 sec. a serving). Anyone who likes rhubarb will love this recipe. A terrifice summer dessert!

Graham Cracker Brownies

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2006
i was a bit skeptical at first because of the use of graham crackers as the "main" ingredient. i was even more skeptical because the only binding ingredient holding the batter together was 1 14. oz can of condensed milk! but the outcome was surprisingly good and chewy, just like a good brownie. however, i would hesitate to call this a real brownie.

Pork Butt Roast with Vegetables

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2006
this was really good! i did add a lot of garlic and celery with the onions. my husband doesn't like mushrooms so i omitted them altogether. i am not a great fan of gravy so i did not even bother to reduce the liquids to make it. this is definitely a keeper.
